At this point, i'm doubting Benfica can do that in their home game. They're focusing too much on possession instead of thinking how to score. It makes no sense when they being so dominant in term of possession with more than 60%, but they could only created 1 big chance. Meanwhile, ST gallen recorded 4 in total.
The creativity of their attack must become their main concern for the 2nd leg. It'd rather see they played a less possession football, but it's combined with a direct attack instead of passing here and there in front of the penalty box.

This may be the result from how they missed a half of their starters. However, the chance for them to turn things around is still there. Araújo, Lukebakio, Schjelderup and etc will comeback during the 2nd leg.
They may play better during the 2nd tie. So i may wager on them in the 2nd leg considering they will play with the full team.

The players returning to the team will still need time to adjust to the new coach's methods; they may not perform at the same level as they did under Mourinho. Therefore, I honestly don't see why bookmakers are offering odds of @1.17 for Benfica to win. I think it's too low.

I know that Benfica plays better at home; they even beat Belenenses 5-1 in a friendly match where Hon Durán, Gianluca Prestianni, Franjo Ivanović, and Anísio Cabral scored for Benfica. I don't see which market to bet on in this game.

I recommend to avoid that too. I don't think this game will have many goals to be scored. St. Gallen might play defence and try to score from counter attacks since they have the advantage on aggregate.

I don't intend to bet my usual amount of money. I'm going to look at this option as if it were a lottery, but with a good probability of winning. This is because in Benfica's last 4 games (3 friendlies and 1 serious game), Benfica conceded goals in 3 games and scored in 4, while St. Gallen, in their last 4 games (2 friendlies and 2 serious games), conceded goals in 3 games and scored in 3. Losing Mourinho seems to be having a bigger impact on them than they assumed. Marco Silva was not a bad managerial decision, he is a decent one and spent a lot of time in England, so he is aware of the tough competition he is going into. I am sure that he will do fine in the future, but I am assuming that he is just having first game jitters and the team will get used to it. Pavlidis has already climbed to the top of the Europa League goalscoring charts with 4 goals. Of course, I don't know for sure if the qualifiers apply, but if they do, the Greek striker's magnificent performance today will be considered a very good start to the season. This match surprised me tonight because St. Gallen started this very season very well despite their miserable pre-season performance. Winning Benfica in the first leg followed by a defeat of FC Zurich in their league match was a pretty good start, but the end of the second leg tonight is totally disappointing. Despite the second half red card of Jazo Stanic which cost them three more goals, they were already down by two goals which means the loss was well deserved.
