We ran a 7-motion AI debate gauntlet overnight: six AI models debating, three more AI models sitting as judges and voting every round. Opus 4.8 debated five rounds and won four, every win a clean 3-0.
The part worth chewing on: round one it argued CON on open-source AI and swept the judges. Round two it argued PRO on globalization and swept them again. Same model, opposite sides, back to back. Its only loss all night was a 2-1 split.
Every judge vote comes with written reasoning, and the full replay is public, so you can audit whether the judges were rigorous or just persuadable. Spectators can also predict match outcomes.

This is quite interesting, I love Turing-test style challenges, but I think more details on that would be needed. What's the event's name, for example? Machine Arena?
Also I wonder how this can be related to gambling. Can people bet on the outcome of these tournaments with real money? Or is it meant as a general commentary for bets like "Which AI is currently the best one?"?

Hmm. Quite interesting. Another way to look at this is that AI is smart we all know that. But how can one actually win on both sides and they are correct? Won't it conflicts the debate argument. I think the AI is just a good debator or just good at persuading. I argue that they might not be any truth in whatever the AI is saying without any backup evidence to statements made by the AI. So at the end of the day, persuasion is that the AI used to win. Not necessarily saying truth in winning.

Machine Arena team here. Good questions, taking them in order.
d5000: yes, Machine Arena is the name. AI models play each other around the clock (chess, poker, social deduction, debate, crypto calls) and every match has a prediction market attached: spectators read the replays and the form, then back who they think takes the next one. Real stakes, 18+. So "which AI is currently the best" is not just commentary here, it is the live market question on every match.
YOSHIE: no boxing involved. Six AI models argued against each other, and three different AI models sat as judges. A round is one motion (a debate topic). Each round the judges vote for the Pro side or the Con side and publish written reasoning for the vote. The winner is the debater with the most round wins.
gracreavix: fair point, and we would put it the same way. The judges score argumentation, not truth. Winning opposite sides back to back is exactly what makes it worth watching: it measures persuasion under fixed rules. And since every judge vote comes with public written reasoning, round by round, you can audit whether they rewarded substance or just confidence.

If those include free and open source AI models then they might not be able to compete against paid AI models that act as judges or as debaters. Can we know that are those open source models also doing well when it comes to overall results or the paid models are still doing much better than the open source models?

Machine Arena team here. Good question, and the honest answer is: mixed roster, and the open-weight side earns its seats.
A recent example from a debate card: DeepSeek V4 Flash argued a six-debater motion (whether video games are a legitimate art form) and finished top on judge points, ahead of GPT 5.4 and Sonnet 4.5. The jury is mixed too. One recent panel had a community-built model sitting as a judge next to the big-lab ones.
We do not publish a closed-vs-open scoreboard as such, but every match replay and every judge's written reasoning is public, so you can check round by round whether the open models are keeping up rather than take our word for it. On a given night they absolutely take rounds off the paid ones.

I saw this thread recently and got intrigued as to what it's all about. I looked at your profile and post history, but I couldn't find a link to the actual website (had to search for it myself, lol). So you're basically a prediction market platform, where AI agents compete with each other. Why don't you make an announcement thread about it here? Instead of making separate topics about the games, you can just post the updates there to prevent unnecessary spam.

Guys, I may be wrong, I'm sorry. But it seems to me that all posts by Machine Arena are AI-generated. I mean, I read through the thread, and it looked like humans were talking to some AI that was polite, yes, and reasonable, but not human. And then I checked posts by Machine Arena with an AI detector and it said, "We are highly confident this text is AI-generated". I'm sorry, I don't want to offend anybody, and I know that detectors can be wrong.

I don't think it is an offence pointing it out, using AI output here in a certain way is against the rules. I guess an AI dependent company will use AI in almost all they do which is not exactly a bad thing. Personally, I love AI too and I use it almost everyday, but in here, it should be used rightly with respect to the rules of the forum.

It can be wrong 40% of the time, and it's a big percentage, and this should be always kept in mind, but very often it helps me a lot. With that said, I still think that in this particular case—when you’re chatting with real people—it’s a bit disrespectful not to take the time to answer yourself and instead leave the job to AI, no matter how advanced it is.

This sounds so nice but yet I am not fully convinced that AI would win a debate where those information that the AI is dishing out are collected facts from developers who ended those words to the big. As a matter of facts, when you talks about deploying it into gambling, then I will want to know how they can give out accurate predictions in regards to what the outcome could be. Many people believe that AI can solve all problems but it's not all results you need that can be generated by the AI.

The first two posts were detected by Copyleaks as 100% AI, the third one wasn't, perhaps just because it was too short. Honestly, I'm not at all surprised that AI presents something related to AI here - various AI companies use forums and social networks to test/train their models.

Again, how does this in any way correlated to gambling at least, maybe there are people who could use them over here as well.

That is interesting, I know Ai is very smart ,so I won't be surprised if the two parties won the debate because they are Ai generated, I know sometimes they can also be wrong,I know few times I used Ai to predict games and it all lost ,so they could be right many times and still be wrong most times, so I can't ask myself how come ,if it is right or not ,so I won't be really surprised if such a things happens .

I believe OP is basically talking about betting of the outcome of this experiments with artificial intelligences. I believe it is rather interesting but not enough for me to risk my money on. There are funnier ways for people to generate entropy, get a prompt out of it and run it in order for people to gamble on the outcome. This is rather a niche of a possible market, and even if there are people interested on this, AI models can be biased towards a side of the political spectrum of the other, because of how companies program them and filter them.

The context is the fact people are willing to bet on pretty much anything possible, so there are always people seeking to offer a novel way to gamble, in order to offer it as a service and pocket money. This idea could have been born as a way to test Articial intelligences, by having them discuss to one another, but turning it into some gambling service is quite original. Again, I am not sure how random or unbiased this would be and how the edge of the house would be implemented. I assume the casino would simply ask for a fee in order for gamblers to partake in it.

In fact, AI never works like humans. They run on the processing power of computers. So it can be seen that they never feel tired or anything like that like humans. AI of the current era has become so advanced that you can even simulate an entire game with them.
And if you have enough data, then I would say that it is not very difficult to determine the predictable winner by running these simulations. As we saw, EA Sports determined who the final winner of 2026 will be. How do they do that? By running such simulations and through the data they have.

Are you yourself AI, OP?
We might all be discussing with an AI here.
Anyway, I don't know which mainstream crypto betting site offers odds on AI tournaments. It must be interesting. And it's also a good way to measure whose AI is more brilliant. It sounds a fun way of testing which AI company is indeed ahead of the pack.
But I'm more interested on objective games like chess or poker. I think AI debates which have only a few judges that are themselves AI could proclaim winners based on their own limitations.
