Is it possible to learn patience and control with gambling, or is stopping the only choice?
The last several days all/most of my play has been controlled and for very small amounts. It was fun and could have lasted much longer. Then, when winning nicely, I lost patience and over-bet quickly losing both some money and the fun, responsible times I had been having recently. Do you frequently go through periods of patience and control followed by eventually "losing it?" Is completely stopping the only real choice?
Why would you put a complete stop if you really enjoyed something? When you enjoy something, that's because you're patient with it, and that you had fun with the process. I think you're being confused with being patient and greedy. You said, you over bet because you're winning consistently with small bets, well, I think you just didn't really enjoyed the gambling process, but you became greedy. You think about winning a huge one. It's a pretty common mistake for a lot of players, and this habit can be controlled, so there's no need for you to stop when you actually enjoyed it.

It comes back to yourself How do you know you, I may have to stop for a moment when emotions and want to keep coming to do gambling at that time I decided to stop rather than continue gambling even though the funds I have are still enough for a few more gambling. But if you can still control yourself you can continue it and stay on the path of discipline that you build for yourself in gambling activities, because I do not know how your mentality is when doing gambling, if you can describe your situation here Well maybe I can help more to find a solution for you.

Is it possible to learn patience and control with gambling, or is stopping the only choice? Isn't it the same? Knowing when to start and stop gambling is basically saying that you can control yourself. Gambling definitely requires control because if you don't, you might be burying yourself with problems. The last several days all/most of my play has been controlled and for very small amounts. It was fun and could have lasted much longer. Then, when winning nicely, I lost patience and over-bet quickly losing both some money and the fun, responsible times I had been having recently. If you manage to experience something like this, I think you know the reason. The loss of patience is basically you losing control. It's good that you recognize it but you should reflect and know why it happened so you know the root cause. (not asking the forum for inputs anymore and being with yourself)

Gambling out of control is usual amongst many gamblers and it is mostly as a result of greed. This happens on occasions when winnings come consecutively and it begins to feel like its a lucky day that could never end. But learning on patience in gambling is very possible, it is a matter of discipline and planning before execution and that should give a sense of guidance and restraint towards bankroll management.

I think it depends on the person's mentality because the patterns u described are very common. The problem is that patience is easy when the bets are small or when things are going well. After a series of wins sometimes emotions takes over and people start increasing their bets to chase bigger profits or recover losses due to overconfidence. That is why many gamblers go through cycles of being disciplined for a while and then they lose control. If this happens majority of the time after setting limits then i suggest self control alone may not be enough. In that case taking a long break or stopping completely may be the better option. Because the real test is not whether you can gamble responsibly for a few days but whether you can consistently stick to your limits over the long term or not.

That's right, patience in gambling is basically about discipline or Self-control, staying grounded in with is right and protect one from making mistakes that will ruined their plans. That is why its essential for one to set rules and stay focused in adhering those rules, it can help one to be in charge of their emotions, as they will not gamble with pressure, in that way, it can even be possible to quit from gambling without any form of struggle.

Most of the times, I’m made to believe that the behaviors that gamblers exhibit in gambling is kinda like a reflection of their behavior in their day to day life. Anyone who ordinarily have mastered discipline and is able to apply it in their day to day lives, wouldn’t have any difficulty at all maintaining discipline when gambling, regardless of the situation they may find themselves. But still, discipline could still be mastered even in the field of gambling, besides they say experience teaches the best lessons, so experience can equally teach anyone who’s ready to learn how to be disciplined.

There's nothing like patient in gambling because patient wouldn't bring you luck or limit your losses. The best way to limit your losses and ease your mind is to stop the game at the right time.
A lot of gamblers have been gambling for long hoping to win big patiently but it hasn't come to past yet some of them are already addicted. However, you can learn and practice self control as a gambler setting up a gambling budget for your gambling activities.

Well this experience is normal for most gamblers, I actually see it like it’s a test to know whether a gambler is disciplined or has mastered self control yet or they’re still struggling with them. Many people who lose control while gambling didn’t initially start that way, in fact, just like you, they started off very well, with small amounts and with mindset of just having fun while at it, but the real test comes when the winnings starts to come in, if a gambler is able to still maintain his stand and continue to gamble responsibly or stick to his original strategy at this point, then surely they are able to control themselves because that’s the point where a lot gamblers fall. But if you change your approach at this point because you wanna maximize or capital on the potential opportunity in front of you, then it means you’ve still got more work to do on yourself.

I think you're being confused with being patient and greedy. You are right, if one continue playing game, it means the person enjoy the game and that also means that the person is patient with the game, because if one is not patience with it, one would have stop playing so as not to harm their mental health but they hope being patient with it can still turn out to be a good one for them, where they might win big and its good for one to enjoy what they are doing, as far as it won't lead them into debt, regrets or destruction.

I think the issue of OP is not that without patience = stop playing immediately. It's about you bet quick, like go all in immediately because on your mind = you want to end it already, in loss or in win (of course we want this).

What you need to learn right now is discipline to help you reshape your gambling journey. Patience for gambling does not stop the urge in you when you are betting. But if you have the discipline, you will be able to help yourself and control how you bet which can give you a lasting result. Take a break and always control your feelings never to gamble based on your personal emotion that can trick you in believing that you are going to make profits in your next bet.

It's very possible to control your betting habits that's why there's need to have a budget and also be on a bankroll Management in that way you can also check and balance yourself and know when you are betting out of control, another factor to take into consideration while gambling is discipline because you can't control your betting habits without disciplining yourself to stay within the budget you have lay down for yourself as a gambler. Stopping is not the solution because there are means of staying without your bettings habits which I have outlined above and we should stop chasing looses that's why it's important to have patience and see gambling as a means of having fun and entertainment because once we think we can actually get our means of survival from it, it becomes a problem and we can no longer control our habits due to greed and wanting to win always.

Is it possible to learn patience and control with gambling, or is stopping the only choice?
Very possible for us to learn how to be patient in gambling and also have self control, and one of the way we can easily achieve this is by being well disciplined in gambling, this begins from how we discern on what to do and what to be avoided by us, gambling should be entertaining to us and we should not see it as what will cause us to go into other things beyond our control. By doing this gambling can actually teach us to be patient so it makes sense to do gambling to exercise our patience and self-control. This makes sense even though only a small percentage of people do it, because it is true what you say, we should be able to do gambling for entertainment not with something that can cause us to lose self-control. I think most people gamble with the aim of getting a profit of funds a small part aims for entertainment by setting strict discipline and people like this who gamble while exercising patience and self-control because with the aim of getting money they tend to play with impatience and loss of self-control.

You certainly can't learn patient with gamble but you can learn control with it. Alot of people gamble with a mindset that just keep gambling one day you will hit the jackpot and that is a wrong way of thinking about gamble because it has helped alot of persons get addicted. But when we talk about control you can learn to stay discipline by giving yourself a monthly budget and st8cking to that budget that alone would not just affect your gambling life but also affect other areas of your life that need discipline.

Offcourse that's the real fact, you can't say you are doing great for just staying consistent for only a short time. The point is if you can be able to last longer without crossing lines then that's ok. Most times it's easy to stick to plans or budget at our initial stage of gambling but immediately things start going smoothly, greed start surfacing and change the whole mindset. Perhaps, you start going higher in your staking power thinking you can even do better, but unfortunately lose everything along the line. So in essence greed remains the greatest challenge that changes everything overtime even when you are trying to be a responsible gambler.

Stopping is the only choice I understand.
What can be done is shifting to something that we love to do and spend time on that without thinking about gambling. The problem is that most people have forgot about the basic things that are their favorites but if they rediscover it and start it they will anyway become engrossed into it and forget about gambling.
Once that happens they are able to look back at the gambling days, they will be in a position of higher control, they will be able to control their habits, not gamble recklessly and have the ability to completely stop gambling once and for all.

Stoping may not be the best option because there are people that stop gambling for sometimes and still continue after weeks or months but without getting the desire results. The best option is to learn self control and to always gamble with what you can afford to lose whether you are on a winning streak or not. Moderation is also important in gambling, gambling shouldn't be every day thing to avoid being addicted to it. For me I don't allow winning to get into heads to the point that I will gamble with what I can't afford to lose . Even when am winning I always stick with an amount I can be able to lose.

Is it possible to learn patience and control with gambling, or is stopping the only choice?
Yes, it is possible. Playing poker taught me to be more patient, because you can't be a winning player if you're impatient. And it's a virtue I've since applied to other areas, such as investing. As for stopping you should learn when to stop a session, generally when you are overconfident, or if you feel tired or angry but you don't need to stop gambling completely.

Once you start to gamble stopping will become very hard, the best time to stop gambling is when you are about to start and someone pull you back or you make the decision to avoid it, this is the best way. Once you start to gamble you mind will be on possibilities of winning, and if you stop now how will the opportunity comes? It's possible to learn control but it's not that easy, someone who is used to risking all they have on gambling will find it hard to start keeping time table and risking little money. Some people don't even find gambling fun once they start risking small money, the excitement from their end is when they risk huge amount of money and the possibility of winning is there even if it's not going to happen.
