I think you're being confused with being patient and greedy. You said, you over bet because you're winning consistently with small bets, well, I think you just didn't really enjoyed the gambling process, but you became greedy. You think about winning a huge one. It's a pretty common mistake for a lot of players, and this habit can be controlled, so there's no need for you to stop when you actually enjoyed it.

You are right, if one continue playing game, it means the person enjoy the game and that also means that the person is patient with the game, because if one is not patience with it, one would have stop playing so as not to harm their mental health but they hope being patient with it can still turn out to be a good one for them, where they might win big and its good for one to enjoy what they are doing, as far as it won't lead them into debt, regrets or destruction.

I think the issue of OP is not that without patience = stop playing immediately.

This is also what I'm thinking, it's better to just quit gambling immediately or for good if you can't have patience or you doesn't want to go to experience of losing money. Mental health is more important to just money.

Yes, it is possible. Playing poker taught me to be more patient, because you can't be a winning player if you're impatient. And it's a virtue I've since applied to other areas, such as investing. As for stopping you should learn when to stop a session, generally when you are overconfident, or if you feel tired or angry but you don't need to stop gambling completely.

Very true, patience is indeed virtue that is not just useful in gambling but also in divers areas too. Controlling our greed during gambling is quite hard; at the beginning you have to apply your patience, but don't expect it to last much longer anyway. I am not saying there are not patient gamblers, but the quantity would be very small. In gambling, patience and controlling yourself don't mean you will be a winner, but I admit that they will reduce the losers and manage the risk.

For me, really, I don't have patience during gambling. Sometimes I get some free money from a gambling platform to test, but I really don't have enough patience to gamble longer. Although I never win at the end of the day, I still do. At the end of the day, I also can't control my patience. I am still gambling, but very rarely in slots. I am now more into sports betting, and I am actually enjoying it. I lost a lot of money in slots, and that's on me. My fault for being too optimistic about the multipliers that it could happen when the truth is, it's rare for it to happen to every gambler. I didn't consider that, so it's my mistake for getting greedy after winning 1 or 2 high multipliers like x5000+.

Look at yourself after losing a lot. Think twice before depositing again. Think about the responsibilities you have before placing the bet. That's what I did. You don't really need patience in gambling, but you need alot of control, if you can't control yourself it's better to do something else with your free time, this is why I like telling people that gambling is no for everybody.

Once you know your weakness you will know what to get involved with and what to run away from, so many people can't deal with gambling because they can't control themselves, when to stop and what to withdraw their money is something that's more powerful that they are.

Such people are better elsewhere than to gamble.

Gambling is something that always increases like a bacteria and there comes a time that you can’t control yourself enough. One is a person that is financially independent and gambles for fun, for him control is possible. That's good, boundaries are everything, which helps to put a stop to what will not make one to have a good time when gambling, because when one refused to accept that loss is part of gambling can make them to chase after them, as they can be addicted to it. It is surely possible, but having the patience and control doesn't mean that you are guaranteed to win in gambling, nothing is guaranteed in gambling that is just the way it is, You could still lost in gambling with this, so stopping might be the only option at some time, if you have control on it, you are going to stop if you already know that you are already losing a lot to the point where you cannot maintain it already, vice versa ofcourse, if you are already winning at some point you need to stop it because it is not a guaranteed thing and you might end up losing everything in the end.

I have a different approach that is why I didn't experience losing control, when I gambling I already know and accepted that im going to lose the money most of the time, so I usually just bet freely, I do make a good guess or some kind of analysis but it wasn't for sure going to be a guaranteed win as well so I know that the risk was to high, I dont gamble to make a profit it is more like for fun.

yes I agree that it is possible to learn patience and control in general . The difficulty
is being disciplined and being able to stick to those rules you set. As the OP states he

If you are a casual gambler its easy to learn those skills but if you are an addicted
gambler or have a problem with gambling the best course of action is to stop. Learning
new skills like patience and control has likely failed at that stage.

As at the time I newly started gambling, I had this experience too but I won't completely say that I learnt patients and control through gambling, I had other life experiences which thought me that patients and self control is very important in a lot of life journey and so I started to apply it to gambling and that's how I was able to just resist some urges that always arise each time am gambling. Realizing the mistake and intentionally deciding not to repeat it again is the best approach to stop losing money or getting carried away while gambling. You are just simply impulsive on which you can really say that you do have the control but on the moment or time that  you do make out some winnings then you do have that kind of reaction or perception that you can win up even more or simply you cant be able to control your greed. If it turned out that you do always end up with this kind of reaction then it do basically shows that you are someone who cant really be able to control your gambling activity on the moment that you do win. If it turned out that you cant be able to control or failed to do so then you dont have any other way but to stop or having some break if you wanted to specially if you are losing up that huge amount then its the best action to be made but if you are someone who do play gambling for fun and doesnt mind up much about those loses because its simply within your budget then i dont see any issues with it, just make it sure that you wont be making yourself getting addicted.
