Both are possible and the choice is yours to make as a gambler, you just have to choose between both of them because there are situations that might require you to stop gambling for good and this is something some gamblers need to work on because their issue isn't going to be solved by learning patience or self control, they just need to stop gambling totally, it is not easy but it is very possible but the problem is that people don't really know how to go about stopping gambling addiction, it is not something that can be stopped within a short period of time.
to stop partaking in gambling is not easy, one thing about gambling is that you need to understand that gambling is something that keep people accompany and then when you addicted in gambling it is very difficult you can separate yourself from gambling, but the only solution that you can stop involving yourself in gambling is for you to find a relevance something that will be doing that will give you money and also consume the time you use or spend in gambling, if you can find anything reasonable doing at all occupy your time and also give you money them you will come stop participating in gambling totally,

Patience and control are probably something you can learn. But to do so, you'd need to build a whole system, encompassing many elements—from risk management and philosophy to guidelines on which games you should actually play. Again, if you're gambling "for fun," there's no need to build such a system; it's pointless. Only if you have long-term plans for making money from gambling should you consider it. Patience isn't a problem if there's something worth enduring for. The problem is that sometimes it's pointless.
I think if you are gambling for fun it might still be needed because if you don't build your mental discipline to be able to practice self control then from gambling to have fun you might find yourself becoming addicted to gambling at some point. There are lots of people that started gambling for fun that are now gambling addicts. You can have fun and also make sure you don't go off track by being disciplined, although it isn't really common for people that gamble for fun to deal with such but it's very possible.

Is it possible to learn patience and control with gambling, or is stopping the only choice?
Yes, it is possible for someone to learn better patience and control with gambling through strict limits and discipline but not everyone can do it. So like If you repeatedly find yourself having periods of control that always end with you losing patience and over-betting, that pattern most likely just means gambling may be difficult for you to moderate long term and in that case, stopping is often the more reliable choice because it removes the situation that keeps leading to the same outcome.
So yea, patience and control can be learnt but you as the student must be willing to learn.

At some point stopping gambling enterly is the best option or best choice. When gambling start being problematic you need quit immediately if not you will live to regret it in the future.

To answer your question OP, someone can actually learn patience and control with gambling. When I was working as a manager at a gambling office, at first I was gambling to entertain myself but it got to a appoint were gambling shifted from fun to were were I was using office money to gamble with the intention of replacing it back. So I have to control myself and start gambling normal, because gambling is something that can control you if you don't have self control.

Stopping when you feel overwhelming and uncontrollable is very necessary but if you can control yourself from going overboard then stopping will not be a chance, in gambling self control is all you need to play smart because without self control a gambler can become addicted and may lost so much money,  though patient is not that mandatory as self control put it's one of the required features that must be possessed, so instead of quitting self control should be practice from the start.
Like that is just it, stopping when you feel uncontrollable is very very important, in gambling self control is all you need to play smart because without that self control a gambler can become addicted and may lost so much money..
So it is mandatory as self control is one of the required quality that is really really needed as a gambing, it compromises of patients and so on..

Is it possible to learn patience and control with gambling, or is stopping the only choice?

The last several days all/most of my play has been controlled and for very small amounts. It was fun and could have lasted much longer. Then, when winning nicely, I lost patience and over-bet quickly losing both some money and the fun, responsible times I had been having recently. Do you frequently go through periods of patience and control followed by eventually "losing it?" Is completely stopping the only real choice?

Stopping is the bestter option in that case but it is not the only choice, you can simply chose not to bet more that what you intend too which ofcourse easier when it's said but when we are on the fun the dopamine will go us crzy that is when the real life lessons should kick in which we gather from experience on different things.

Once we starts managing the situation then it will get better, it is not about gambling but says more about the individual's character which can be tested and ultimately only few can stick with it.

Patience and restraint are psychological things. Being patient in gambling is not as easy as it seems if you are not able to manage your funds properly. I am talking about limited allocation in gambling because no matter how experienced you are, you may reach a point in your gambling that you cannot maintain patience and restraint. Because excitement can build up in you and you will not be able to stop gambling until you have a certain amount of funds allocated.

If you can give up gambling completely, it is good but most gamblers cannot. I would advise you to gamble with control, not to use gambling as a means of earning money. Losing your temper is normal because losses are inevitable in gambling. Limiting your allocation is a form of patience and restraint.

Its just like playing with fire m8. You don't want to get burned then put the matches down you know. If you can't stop playing with fire and find yourself getting into too much fun lol as in you gamble and lose too much then its best to just stop altogether for a time to re-assess and figure it all out. From there maybe you can find a way to start again after a prolonged period of not playing but even then its till playing with fire. Its so easy to go back to your old ways...

The gambling situation that is done is out of control so it is best to stop, to prevent worse things from happening such as sustained large losses because this becomes a certainty that will happen when we still force to continue playing while the situation has started to get out of control. Therefore, apart from self-control, awareness is also important because with this awareness we will be able to stop gambling at the right time. With many cases that have happened, it should be a lesson for everyone who does gambling to be able to control themselves when gambling and not experience a loss of self-control.

If someone cannot control their emotions in any way and repeatedly loses control and decides to bet aggressively outside the limit, then they should stop gambling. Because if the matter goes to a point where you are repeatedly losing money and are not able to stay within your limit, then stopping gambling for a few days cannot be a permanent decision . But there are some gamblers who, after suffering a big loss, do not stop gambling after that but continue to bet within their limit. Where they can keep their losses under control even if they cannot make a lot of profit. That is, they bet with the amount of loss that they can afford financially and they can handle this limit fixed strongly. But for those who cannot control this, it is best to refrain from gambling.

While gambling, you've got to know when to stop, you've got to know when to pause and when it's healthy to continue gambling at the pace you're going at. There's how you will get too comfortable while gambling that it becomes an habit you can't do without. Other times, it might be that you have to reduce the amount you're gambling or the frequency of your bet. If you don't work on those things and just allow things go the way it throws itself at you, you're definitely on the part way to becoming a gambling addict.

As long as you're struggling to remain an active gambler in terms of the availability of the financial resource you're putting into gambling is concerned, then it's only ways to stop of put a break to it. It's that simple.

Your problem is not a loss, but a loss of control after a win. You were able to stay calm with small bets, but your confidence in gambling has become a problem as a result of repeated wins. Control can be learned, you cannot rely on willpower alone. It is always better to set a specific loss limit when gambling and not change it. This will not give you as much regret. If gambling replaces your joy with regret, then there is nothing left to prove.

Knowing when to observe all of these you just mentioned in our gambling streak is very important, you can't force anything as long as gamble is concerned. If you're on a losing streak without possible way out then the best is just to work away, if possible take some weeks off as you wish maybe by this you can be able to fit in and do better when next you come around, but trying to persist further even when is not working  is a red flag which can result more lost.

Self-control is just everything in gambling, as it helps one to understand the importance of luck in the game and to also help them to sustain responsible gambling lifestyle, which they can be able to quit or stop when they are giving in much in gambling, that is to say when they losing more in gambling, as it might make them to change their mindset towards gambling and that might also take away their peace, their money and the fun away because the game can only be fun if they really adhere to the rules when gambling.

Absolutely, if one is able to stop themselves when they notice the game is getting out of hand. Stopping themselves doesn't mean they are weak, it means they are aware of the consequences if one doesn't comply with the right rules in gambling, as it will lead them to destruction and realizing themselves early of that, makes them to show that they really value their wellbeing. And making sure that they protect their wellbeing will also help them to control themselves whenever they are gambling.

‎I agree with you. When a gambler emulates the habit of self control, they will know how to control themselves when gambling.  Thus, when they are  losing a lot, they can decide to stop and step away from it for a long time. Someone without self control can't do that, because they will want to try and win back those losses they incurred hence they lose more money. or even in the aspect of winning, a gambler who has self control knows when  to withdraw their profits and stop gambling, but someone who doesn't have that, their mind will be "since I won this amount, what if I increase my stake amount to win bigger amounts" .  They will continue to do that till they get addicted to it and spend up their entire savings. As a gambler you shouldn't make gambling be something that will influence your money, peace of mind, or daily life, it is a clear sign to stop and take a break.

The most fun thing about gambling is when you keep winning but the most difficult thing is when you suddenly lose after winning and then stop playing for the day. Self-control is the main tool in gambling and if it is right, you can protect your wealth before any bad situation happens.

If someone starts losing after winning 3-4 rounds, it is natural that a kind of process is going on in the brain to regain that money. So the best control is to stop playing at this time and those who can do this are included in regular gambling. And this control is not possible in a day.

Exactly and that is how it should be as a gambler, they are to ensure the observe the rules of gambling in the right way and that will make them to stay disciplined about that the rules, as they won't gamble beyond their rules. This helps them to protect their peace of mind and also their bankroll, as they won't have any issues in their financial aspects that might cause them emotional impulses. That is why no matter anything, one should make sure they approach gambling with the right mindset.

It is completely normal to get trapped in this situation but for the most people stopping completely is the only way to fix the problem. When u start winning your brain gets too excited and you stop think clearly because of the excitement which makes impossible to stay carefull or controlled. If your good days always end with a big loss and a bad feeling so it means gambling will always be a dangerous trap for u . I think it is actually much easier to place 0 bets then to try and stop yourself after you start winning so walking away or giving space for good is not giving up it is a smart choice to save your money and protect your happiness.

Even though it's possible, I would say it's extremely difficult for one to actually learn to stay patient and gain control if they are not generally disciplined by nature, because for someone who isn't specifically good at something naturally, it will take a lot of work for them to actually be able to be good at that thing, especially when it comes to emotions and feelings. And, I personally believe that it's not possible for someone to learn to be patient by themselves without the support of a second party, which means that if you have someone around who keeps reminding you to stay patient and keep calm, then you might get used to it, but if you are trying to do it yourself, you might fail.

You were probably a generally well-disciplined person which is the reason why you were eventually able to control yourself when you realized that things are getting out of control, because the situation you were in is very dangerous. When you use money that isn't supposed to be used for gambling with the mindset that you are going to put the money back after you win then you are up for trouble because if you lose the money and then have no money to keep, it is going to create a lot of trouble.
