I am actually surprise to see that there are some people who doesn't know how to face public, this happened on a seminal hold on our group friends where someone among us was asked to host the people since it was their turn to do that, but it happened that weren't able to present themselves very well. Though I never mean to post this here but something stroke me to post here to know if we have same people here, there are some people who doesn't know how to express themselves in public and they would want it to be private or somehow meet someone in private to be able to express themselves and their feelings. Same thing happened to popular person we know to be Mark, and through such experience he created facebook where people can communicating and sharing their feelings through online.

have you experienced such a thing before to you knowledge?

It's very common, i could remember some dude who was called up by our principal in secondary school days to give a speech on behalf of his hostel but he ended up shaking with the mic in his hand, it was so embarrassing and I could remember some group of girls laughing at his girlfriend, I laughed too but felt pity for the girl cause I would've feel bad if it were my boyfriend.

Not cause he's embarrassing me but what was going through his head and how embarrassed he felt. Some people are like that, they ain't dumb or lack what to say but they're so shy that they can't express themselves in a crowdy or public space without stammering or fidgeting, it's caused by lack of self confidence.

Some people are born with a personality and distaste for crowds.
Some people are born with a personality that strongly prefers crowds.
Some people are untrained in crowded situations, and
Some people are trained in crowded situations from childhood.

In these things have different backgrounds that we can assume why from some people are not able to express themselves in public, this is different from public speaking more to how our daily lives that make the crowd seem to drain more energy for those who are not used to it, while conversely for those extroverts when too much alone they will be much weaker than when crowded.
Personality has a great influence on someone and it make you comfortable and define that how comfortable someone is when they are in crowd I do not think that it is simple to say that people are born to either enjoy or dislike public situation, confidence is the main thing, confidence in front of others is often learned skills that can be learn rather than a fixed personality trait I have seen many people who are introvert and later they became excellent public speakers and there are people who are extra word but they don't feel comfortable while talking in public. self confidence plays  important role in definingpersonalities and its define ability of someone on how they interact with others, this ability can be developed with the help of training exposure practice and encouragement.

Related about personality such as character, emotion, intelligence basically we know that genes influence in this case, but the most influential is the habit, where the habit can be through education (or educated), or someone does have an interest in independently so that he learns and has the ability to be either introverted or extroverted (have confidence), if a person is accustomed from birth, and this will affect them as adults in expressing themselves to the public, although anyone can be able to change depending on the conditions he experienced and the willingness so that someone wants to do something for his life.

Yes, during end of the year party when many schools use to celebrate their end of the year party with different activities that will be making students to display what will make their parents to leave them in that school next term, not that the children don't know book but they are not bold in standing in public to display but if you give the student pen to display what is planning to showcase in public he or she will do better in that presentation, in such category of people in the classroom, just give them few years and you will begin seeing changes in them on how to get display perfectly in public.

Well it's not a new thing, it is called stage fright or inferior complex. This feeling makes a person not express themselves freely in public. Most times it is not there fault, it's just unfortunate that they are not used to speaking in public. And anyone who is not familiar with public speaking will surely embarrass him or herself in public. Some people are introvert and don't have that energy to withstand crowd because they are used to private communications. Infact public speaking is not for everybody. People even go to study how speak in public because it's not really easy as you think. Don Just blame the person in question, because he is not used to it.

All you said is just the truth because I have some friends who are like that. They can't talk when there is someone new around them. It sounds funny but this is who this people are. They feel extremely unsecured in the mist of crowds not just talking but also in there feelings.
This is as a result of upbringing for children raised in environment where they are not exposed to interact with other children even at home whose parents are over protective. They go to school, come back and remain indoors, no friends, nabours visiting and family members visit occasionally.  By the time the grow up it becomes a life style for them, seeing others as suspects to there well being.

Yes of course, so many people has the same Problems of facing the public because facing the public is something that one should be starting why growing up, I'm talking out of experience and i noticed that once one passes the young age when he could have learn how to  withstand or overcome stage frightening, it seems so difficult for him at the point of being a man/woman that has not been practicing or speaking before for a while and i believe schools management and churches should be given younger one the opportunity of standing before the public while growing up as teenager and i think people can cope in dealing with stage frightening with consistent practice of speaking before the public because stage frightening is one of the major problems people are facing in the society now.

We often see this event happening regularly, whether in schools or churches, mostly found in public gatherings. The cause of it is stage fright or public anxiety.

The audience judges instantly that they have low IQ, are not intelligent, incompetent, or not completely ready for the stage. But deep down, we know that most folks in such a situation are highly intelligent, more competent enough to steal the show. Anxiety should not be used to judge intelligence. In African culture, the conclusion is that the kid is not sharp. If the anxiety is worked on, such a person will be bold enough to address the public in due time.

That's right, not everyone has the boldness to present themselves in public, as they shy and afriad that they might be judge if they make mistake and this can make them to often forget to present well and its not actually good for one to think such, as it can cause them low self esteemed and others things that won't help them to grow, but believing in oneself that they can no do it no matter what it takes can will help them to be focus and encourage themselves the more, as it can also help to increase their IQ.

Sincerely, there are people who can't face crowd at all. Some can't even present a paper work to some groups of Persons due to stage fright. I have seen people stammer on stage trying to deliver. I have also seen people shed tears on stage trying to perform. Some failed woefully due to there poor ability to stand crowd.

I don't know what could be the major cause of that, but maybe, it might be the level of exposure. Some people while growing up didn't get the chance to face crowd. Some are those introvert that don't like facing people, and so, they prefer staying all alone instead of talking too much. I never had that experience before because I like talking and performing functions. But one day, while performing a function on stage with many crowd , I shivered, and later I regained confidence, and I grew over it all my life

Yes of course, there are people like that in this world, who can talk very well when they are alone or with just one to two persons they know very well, but when it's a public they can't speak again . some are because they are shy and some are their nature of life, and that is to say they were created like that, they can only talk to few people whom they know very well but cannot talk in the public anymore and there are some who are not introvert but cannot speak in public too, because they are shy or afraid of making mistakes while talking in the public because they are ashamed of being laughed at ..

Challenges such as glossophobia, also called Social Anxiety Disorder, might be a main reason why some people avoid public speech. It could also be caused by stage fright, which fear or feeling of nervousness during a public appearance. People who have issues with speech impediments such as stuttering always avoid speaking in public. Others might not be fluent in speaking a particular language making them to act abnormally.
I think there is a solution to this challenge, but many don't realize it until it is too late, and they struggle with it. The main reason why some people are nervous in the presence of certain groups of people is because of speech expression, and it can be corrected by constant practice of public speaking, by gathering a few close people. As one becomes more articulate in speaking, it becomes easier to face the crowd. The right time to work on this is at a tender stage of life, so that as one becomes an adult, it isn't a difficult challenge.
Quote
Some people naturally want to avoid public speaking.
I think this is just nature.
Quote
They might be introverts who enjoy their private spaces. I have experienced it several times because sometimes I want to disconnect from the crowd.
Their are introvert who are even good public speakers. Introvert is not a disorder but a composure or a way to live.

I'm a very shy person naturally and I find discomfort with crowd and too many people around me, I also don't function well where there's too much noise so most times I'm always just by myself. When I was younger I realised that I had stage fright and it got so bad till I grew older to the point where I can't even stand in church to lead or even teach Sunday school class because back then I was a Sunday school teacher.

There are so many people out there who can't express themselves publicly not because they're not educated enough or sociable, some people just don't function well with too many people and for others the boldness is there but once they're on stage that fear just grips them and you see them lost or stuttering.  I'm still very much uncomfortable with facing public and the crowd but I'm better now compared to year's back, and what helped me was joining small groups, gatherings, school parties where I was giving speech to deliver with another beside me and from there I picked up.

It's funny though, but during my school day's I see people sweating prior to project defence, you can see the fear literally on their faces because in their head how are they even going to face the these people, for anyone going through stage fright, you can overcome that gradually by surrounding yourself with people who genuinely loves you and will not mock you once you fail, people that will also motivate you, correct and cheer you up, start by leading or participating in small gatherings and events and from there you'll pick up.

What you saw could be referred to as social anxiety disorder and this is what many people battle in there life whenever they're to face the crowd.
The only way to know that someone really has social anxiety is when they are in public. I used to think that I lacked confidence in speaking in public because I had never tried it, until in certain situations I had to do it and it turned out not to be what I thought. Experience will prove the presumption.

We actually don't have a particular place to no if we have an anxiety of speaking in the public because is already self exposing, if you are someone who cannot speak in the crowd you would no even when you have not been called out before because is an emotion and everybody knows how low or very confident they can handle themselves. Your case was different because it wasn't the severe type of anxiety that you would see in most people even at home when they're just limited with few people they still lack the boldness to express properly.

What you have offered as a solution, totally hasnt worked in my youth experience. Some of my classmates were afraid to talk, do presentation or answer question in front of a class. It was easier for them to say "I dont know" or "I am not ready" (even though they knew and were prepared), then go to blackboard and answer teachers question, read loud and etc. But, when these students were in a group among friends, or at some day many were absent in the class, they did not shy or hesitate to answer. I dont know the reason why they were so afraid to be on public, nervous and hesitated. During years of study, that their problem did not disappear. I can only suppose that reason why they were like that is being afraid to make mistake and get laughed at.

I'm such weird case. I guess everyone gets a bit nervous addressing a huge crowd but some people get more anxious.
In my last farewell, I was surrounded by about 20 of my co-workers and had to give a small farewell speech. I was confident I'll speak some sentences and didn't prepared for it but when I had to stand and start speaking, all words were lost from my mind. I was having awkward long silences between sentences and my coworkers thought I was not being able to speak due to separation anxiety while I was not being able to speak in public. I was not even a bit sad leaving them.

I was not even a bit sad leaving them.
As a student of communication and public speaking I’ve been told if you have not spoken or practiced in at least 100 different public spaces being it large gatherings or smaller ones, you can’t escape the anxiety which comes with it. What it takes for you to build confidence to addresses the public is not what you learn overnight, it’s like me watching a video on how to swim and the next thing is I jumped inside the swimming pool with the mindset of practicing it immediately, believe me, you , I almost got drowned and drank alot of water. The same thing happens to us when we think we can just watch a video or listen to a friends advise and suddenly become like them. It all takes time and please it’s okay to have those silences, it doesn’t make them awkward, it’s only you trying to be you in adapting a somewhat unusual situation of communication and it’s your brain trying to gather the information before you speak so it is okay and you did well to have done the farewell.

Facing the public and withstanding the crowd with or without making mistake is determined by the type of person we are talking about. We have the introvert and extrovert and this are different species of human being in opposite directions. The introvert are usually skeptical about appearing in the public and whenever they are called openly to make speach, there will be stage fright and you will not like the performance unlike the extrovert. This people are real an they are many of them. They only need to work on themselves by learning how to present themselves in the public, it is called publiclic speaking program/ training.
