Nice one OP, we all have different definitions to wealth, I want to be wealthy in secrecy without becoming the face of the public, eye is very powerful, once set on you there is no going back, if you look like the perfect victim you are in trouble.
We all crave for different things in this world and my respect goes out to those who want to be wealthy enough in the face of the public, too much headaches it's going to be for me, I choose Bitcoin to stay off the rader and look average as I can.
When I got my first car I intentionally choose something small, just to blend in my own world where people don't mind their business, they always want to know, I can't risk getting even popular for having some earthly things.
If I were rich, I would also prefer to keep it a secret as much as possible. I think living away from the public eye is much more peaceful. The moment people notice your financial situation, their perception of you can change. Some become jealous, others constantly expect something from you. They start seeing you as a target. Unnecessary attention often does more harm than good. For me, wealth isn't about showing off, it's about being able to live comfortably and freely. It should mean being able to buy what I want, support my family, and live without worrying about my future. What's the point of showing off

Wealth needs to be protected. "If you can't hold it, then it's not yours." So there is a need for power. However, in reality, wealth is just one of the means to achieve an end. The real goal is always power. Power, in turn, can never come from wealth alone. Power cannot be bought. Such is, for example, political, religious, or even criminal power, in the origin of which money often has an auxiliary meaning. In general, there is a good book by M. Khazin "Stairway to Heaven" about the theory of power.

That is why wealth creates opportunities but power preserves it. The greatest fortunes rarely survived through money alone. (Even Elon Musk once aligned with Donald Trump) The greatest fortunes survive because they were surrounded by network, institutions, reputation, political influence, strategic alliances, or capabilities that made attacking them expensive.
This is a reason you don't see the wealthy businessmen comes out to speak in a suffering country, all businessmen are politically involved and play their roles significantly to government directives. Every businesses owned by a wealthy person does have loopholes, if they don't work hand to hand with politicians, those with power can make things unbearable for their business not to flourish, a wealthy man is usually a friend of a politician, some even spread their wings into politics, these alignments is what keeps their investment flowing, even give them a chance over their competitors. This is true 100%. A very wealthy businessman always side and choose a politician, so they will not only gain massive wealth, but gain power as well. That power allows them to eliminate competitors that poses a huge threat, by not making them shut down operations, but force them to sell it and expand their business empire. This power also serves as wealth protection from any form of threats, both legally and illegally. Also a very common set up, a normal person who works 9-5, suddenly became a politician, and eventually climbed up at a higher rank in politics, will become businessman at the latter. Why? Because they understand that if you have power, wealth tends to follow suit.

There are two sides to protection here. One is you letting the world knows as you can't stay anonymous to yourself and those around you, such person needs all protection they can get, political involvement and fundings of political people to gain more power. To the world this makes some people to be scared of wealthy people, they will remain untouchable but let's say the truth, wealthy people get neutralised by same people that are supposed to protect them, I can't even count how many have died in the hands of politicians. The second is where I prefer, stay anonymous forever, the type shit that Nakamoto played, he is the richest of them all, I even like anonymous for who he is, the man in the mask that no one can uncovered, sorry my life is just way easier living this way.

This reveals a distinction that envy rarely understands. Wealth is often not s pile of assets waiting to be divided. It is the continuous output of knowledge, leadership, organization and judgement. Destroy the source and the stream dries up. It also explain why wealth alone is never enough.
If you are the only wealthy people in a locality, you are not safe, your asset is not safe and you risk loosing everything to the systems around you that you have failed to uplift. wealth needs power and stays protected when in addition to the power it is able to attract the average subordinate to you. At certain stage of your life, regardless how wealthy you are, you need to build a community of loyalist that are of a lower and upper class to you which will stand to relate with those beneath and above you and feed you with information that helps you relate with each of them in a manner that relates well with them. wealth sustainability requires a lot of work and except you want to remain anonymous, you cant do without people.

Wealth also attracks power and power brings influence. when you are wealthy you get the links to meet the high and mighty who will connect you more and make you become more influencial , you can be powerful because of how wealthy you are but if you do not have influence you will still be defeated that's why you see rich people moving closer to dine and wine with those who are in top positions in all sectors so that with their money they can have good connection which will in return make them more powerful, influncial and also give them more wealth. With money you can get connected to those in power but you can't buy power but having powerful people around through your wealth is as good as being powerful because of the money you have.

Wealth doesn't need power to survive. One of the steady things to keep your wealth or for it survive is, earning the wealth through legal means. Politicians are the ones who need power in order for their wealth to survive because they earn it through that means. Wealth could only survive if it is well taken care of. You can't expect your wealth to grow without putting more effort into growing it. Financial management is one of the basic ways to prevent excessive loss or extravagant, and that is only going to be possible if the person is well disciplined and composed. Hard work, commitment, investment, saving and accurate budgeting are part of the major things that makes wealth to survive.

Wealth gives you power, wealth also gives you access and with this access you can get into places that you wouldn't have been able to access if you do not have wealth. Wealth and power needs each other and with great wealth you can always use it to attain the power that you desire. Wealthy people need protection and they can only get those protection by being in connection with those in power and those in power needs money which they can get from their wealthy allies for them to achieve their goals. Both of them understand their importance and that is why you can't find one without the other, a wealthy person will always have power and a powerful person will always have access to wealth.

With wealth you have power already, wealth takes you to places you have not been before, it unlocks many more opportunities, it makes everything that would have been difficult you if you were not wealthy to be very easy for you, the power of wealth is too much, poor and average people lose many opportunities in life because of their financial status but that is not the same when it has to do with wealthy people, ordinarily people looking for partnership comes to weathy people to invest in their ideas, in most countries wealthy people sponsor politicians and when they win, they pay back with major contracts and different positions thereby making those wealthy individuals more powerful.

First of all it is never possible, the only wealthy person in the area. And considering the current times, most people have some wealth. However, you have to believe that everyone has a lot of respect for wealthy people. But nowadays powerful people confiscate the wealth of others. Yes, powerful people can keep safe very easily but if they are on good terms with all classes of people there is no need for power. But for this he must be an honest person.

You're absolutely right. Every business has its own loopholes especially those that exploit natural resources. Approaching the government will facilitate business growth. Conversely in a democratic system achieving power requires significant funding. So, the two are interconnected even interdependent. Furthermore, wealth is more easily maintained through access to power and political networks. In many countries, this has become commonplace as regulations and bureaucracy can be used to hinder competitors, especially in a democratic system where capitalism goes hand in hand. Indeed, some wealth can survive without political influence. Many survive through continuous innovation, adaptation, and value creation but ultimately they need protection. Essentially, the wealthy ally themselves with the government to seek privileges. Money without power is vulnerable but power without value creation is also unsustainable.

The alliance between Donald Trump and Elon Musk didn't last because of a clash of interests. The world's richest man wanted to gain far more than he contributed. Trump's close associates needed to curtail his excess, and he ended up losing his place. However, he got some benefits that made his support worthwhile. Some of the richest people in the world support more than one political party. They are aware that political decisions could either mar or make their business. So they want to ensure that a change of government would not end the protection and privileges they enjoy. Don't be surprised when a billionaire decides to resign from his companies to contest for a political post. He might not necessarily need the financial benefits from the post, but his businesses or wealth need to be protected.

The way inflation is going, everyone has saved some money to face future difficulties, which is why it is not a brave thing for someone to see the power of their wealth. In today's era, a rich person is one who has things like protection, respect, justice, and honesty, and this is related to being good to everyone. So, even if you have wealth or power, people should consider you a morally rich person because today's rich people's ideology is that they seize the wealth of others to protect themselves, which is why it is difficult for others to believe in them. That is why a good person is better in the eyes of others than a rich person.

I believe that wealth requires not only power but also stability. Stability requires strong social institutions (fair courts, reputable human rights organizations, uncorrupted law enforcement agencies, independent media).🙋
I'm a proponent of justice... But I understand justice not as the implementation of the principle of "take and divide," but as equal rights for all citizens of the country. A poor person should have exactly the same rights as a rich person. Then the poor person will demonstrate hard work and enterprise, and over time, they themselves will become rich. Or maybe they won't, but their children or grandchildren will.
In practice, the stronger the social institutions in a country, the higher the average per capita income. There are many rich people in the country, even more people with average incomes, and some poor people, but there are no destitute people at all. In totalitarian countries, per capita income is typically low, and no government action can change this situation. The authorities are usually not happy about this situation either, since low per capita income means low domestic demand. 🤷

That's why Elon musk could even have an alliance with Trump in the first place even though he isn't a politician. A wealthy person like Elon who has his wealth as an open secret can hardly get missing or attacked out of the blues because of the powerful influence that surrounds him and his investment both in form of charity, donations, support and that's because his wealth is woven into the fabric of the modern society and an attack on his wealth would definitely come with great retaliation and consequences because his foundation is solid and a better part of the economic system of his country.

It is true that a good legal system is the key to prosperity in a nation. Citizens should be assured of equal rights in order to realize the fruits of their labor. Justice is not the process of equitable distribution of wealth, but ample opportunities to all to travel onwards. With clean institutions, a healthy economy with extreme poverty will be developed.

The banana analogy is on the money but it does not go far enough. What happened to that monkey before it became the organizing monkey? What it gave up? How long it took it to watch others sleep while it constructed the irrigation system that no one else could imagine. Yes, Power preserves Wealth. But the building itself that was brought from within a person who chose, at some point, that building was more important than belonging was.
Musk and Trump. That is just one example that could be the basis of an entire discussion. Two high-level operators that mutually benefit from one another. Nobody in that arrangement was naive. They read the room right. But when it is a power based on alliances from the outside, it is borrowed power.

Having wealth also comes with various risks and you have to deal with them. There are plenty of bad people in this world who want to take other people's assets for themselves. It doesn't matter whether the amount is large or small, this kind of asset transfer happens all the time. You can be exposed to it even if you keep a low profile. What OP is trying to explain is something we see clearly in everyday life. Believe me, no matter how careful you are, your assets will attract attention in one way or another and one day you could become a target.

People, I believe, should also value and protect their basic natural rights. You can't rely entirely on the actions of the authorities. Such basic natural rights are usually enshrined in the Constitution, but in reality, they don't need to be spelled out in law. They belong to people by the very fact of their birth. You're born, and you already have rights. 🙋 Any ruling elite is prone to authoritarianism and totalitarianism. They are only restrained by the people. Therefore, people themselves must protect their rights. For example, scientists once conducted an experiment... They broke some of the windows in a non-residential building. People installed new glass in these windows. However, the scientists broke these windows again. A few months later, all the glass in this building was broken. People themselves broke them when they saw that it was possible and no one was punished for it. That's exactly how people lose their basic natural rights. It's enough to demonstratively break the rules a few times, and everyone will break them. For example, if someone takes bribes and people see that there is no punishment for this offense, then within a few months everyone will be taking and giving bribes. This will become the new norm. 🤷
