I would rather agree if the sentence is "wealth requires knowledge (intelligence) to preserve it" the word to refute it is if someone who is rich then try to find power by thinking to preserve his wealth but on the one hand he is not so smart it will be useless too, which actually makes his wealth decrease, we know that financing political relations is not cheap, especially if you run yourself to get a seat of government that costs much more expensive.

And the fact behind it is if there are rich people who are getting richer are those who know how to get power at a much cheaper price but can be a strong position.

I have this sick idea that wealth can be built on the level of tenacity, smartness and the available opportunities present to a particular person but to sustain it, I feel you have to dip your hands into unethical activities, and that wealth invariably needs power to strive and power was not meant to be held by one person.

The powerful will always strive to keep power to continue there wealth and the tenacious and smart ones will always try to take that power from off there hands, that's the battle everyday to sustain wealth.

A wise man once told; "In nature, if a monkey hoarded one trillion bananas, the other monkeys would beat that monkey to death and take its bananas." It sounds persuasive, until you confuse wealth with inventory. Imagine the monkeys do exactly that. That kill the richest monkey, convinced they are about to divide unimaginable riches among themselves. Justice has been served, equality restored. But when they gather around the fortune, there is no mountain of bananas waiting for them.
The trillion bananas were ownership in a company that grew banana farms, built irrigation systems, designed banana launching rockets. And supplied distant troops that could not grow bananas themselves. The wealth existed because one monkey was organizing capital, coordinating labour, taking risks, and solving problems that no one else could.

This reveals a distinction that envy rarely understands. Wealth is often not s pile of assets waiting to be divided. It is the continuous output of knowledge, leadership, organization and judgement. Destroy the source and the stream dries up. It also explain why wealth alone is never enough.

The wealthy are perpetual targets of resentment, often from those who already possess considerable wealth. Success attracts competitors, great success attracts coalitions.

Power changes that calculation. When people sense that wealth is protected by influence, alliances, institutional support or the capacity to retaliate, their envy usually remains inside their minds. They may still resent you, but they become far more careful acting on that resentment. Power transforms hostile intentions into private thoughts.

That is why wealth creates opportunities but power preserves it.
The greatest fortunes rarely survived through money alone. (Even Elon Musk once aligned with Donald Trump) The greatest fortunes survive because they were surrounded by network, institutions, reputation, political influence, strategic alliances, or capabilities that made attacking them expensive.

"A wise man once told; "In nature, if a monkey hoarded one trillion bananas, the other monkeys would beat that monkey to death and take its bananas." It sounds persuasive, until you confuse wealth with inventory. Imagine the monkeys do exactly that. That kill the richest monkey, convinced they are about to divide unimaginable riches among themselves. Justice has been served, equality restored. But when they gather around the fortune, there is no mountain of bananas waiting for them." - It was precisely this idea of "taking from the rich and distributing it" that formed the basis of communist ideology... This ideology ultimately claimed more lives than any other in the history of humankind.

I highly recommend that you read the book "Heart of a Dog" by Mikhail Bulgakov. Believe me-it will leave a lasting impression on you! It offers a very nuanced description of the ideology of the lumpenproletariat, which you mentioned in the excerpt above.

First off I don't think you can build wealth without power in the first place and anyone who has built wealth, did so with power. Now I'm not talking about inherited wealth because it is very possible for a powerful man to acquire wealth and then his children because they were born into money already may not full understand the concept of power and if that powerful man dies, you will see alot of flies coming around to pick out his wealth from.his children. I have seen this play out a lot of times, normally people think having money automatically equals having power but that's not how it works at all so yeah you still need power regardless and thats why rich people tend to put their own in power so they can sustain the wealth.
The popular saying "with great power comes great responsibility" has a similar translation to the topic in question. Power could be seen as qualifier while wealth is seen as a quantifier, both are very important but could be seen in a different light. One with power would need wealth to sustain that power, but one with wealth does not necessarily need power to function, as power is an entity that does not have any qualifications but basically a measure of wealth.

True.

Imagine a very wealthy man who lives in the slums. Every man there will probably have an evil intention against him just to claim all that wealth. But when a wealthy man gains power and connections from the authorities or government officials, you cannot even touch them anymore. Just the thought of robbing their wealth comes to mind, but it will never be done.

I agree that wealth needs power to survive, especially if it is a big wealth that we are talking about. Money that will flow for a long time and probably be a family business. Actually, power will come to them as many investors will come in and offer something for money. So, there are times when it automatically comes to the wealthy man.

Yeah, Think about someone who is rich but has no influence or protection, people around will always try to take advantage of them. In my opinion when a wealthy person also has power and good connections with authorities, no one will even think of touching them. Forr a big wealth that needs to last for generations, you really need power to protect it, a lot of times that power comes naturally too. When you have money, investors and important people will come to you, and that gives you influence.

Wealth and power usually end up going together because wealth alone isn't enough to last if you are rich without protection, people will target you. Come to think of it, it's will be hard for people to get close to someone that is rich and have securities agencies protecting them in other to harm them. Your wealth and health will be safe from any harm when you have power.
