I don't buy your opinion here, gambling is for fun and any fun loving person is free to gamble as long as they have their gambling urge under control. It is natural that there would definitely be a period where one would want to gamble as much as they want but at that period, it seems the person is being addicted and can not control their urge which is personal.
However, gambling is a thing of choice as against the notion of "not for all". The government regulations made it for adults to be able to access gambling platforms because they feel anyone above such age is matured enough to live their life but people below the age of 18 could be influenced and not be in the right position to take decisions hence the law prohibits them from such and also not allowing casinos to accept such age and below on their platforms as well.
Like what most of the members here whom I have read their replies have said, gambling requires discipline and self control if you must conquer addiction. Not only that, having knowledge of what gambling is all about, knowing the principles involving gambling, it could help to cushion the urge for gambling while one just focus on the fun they derive with just the little funds they could afford to lose while gambling.

It really depends on the individual. Some people are not concerned about how others perceive them and openly admit that they gamble primarily for profit rather than entertainment. Given today's financial realities, many people are less likely to gamble simply out of boredom unless they have a lot of extra money or income. However, constantly chasing the goal of winning every time they gamble will increase the risk of developing unhealthy gambling habits or worst part is the addiction. That said, I am not a healthcare professional, so I cannot determine or diagnose whether someone has a gambling addiction based solely on the amount of time they spend gambling.

A gambler has a mental desire to make a profit, which is right, but at the same time he gambles with the expectation of entertainment because if he does not get entertainment in gambling, that gambler will not be able to stay involved in gambling for a long time. If there is no entertainment in gambling, you will gradually lose interest or if you keep losing, it will be natural to lose interest in gambling.

Literally, a gambler gambles for fun and to make money, if there is a lack of either of these, he will not be able to stay involved in the gambling industry for a long time. It is so bad that there are many gamblers who are into gambling but don't even understand that gambling is not meant for them. They just believe that since gambling is a game of luck, they can be lucky to play just the way they like and thus will even increase their chances of winning.

Those who says they are gambling merely for entertaiment are usually those who want to hide something from others because 99% gamblers are gambling to make profit.

I completely agree with you. Gambling is not for everyone because not everyone is lucky enough to win bets. Believe me I lost most of my bets in this World Cup but I won most of my matches in previous tournaments. Gamblers who gamble for entertainment can also lose money but a responsible gambler knows when to stop gambling.

The two things you have suggested are very important. You need to know how much money you can afford to lose and when to stop gambling, then you can reduce your losses. If a gambler can stick to these two strategies he will be able to avoid becoming addicted and become responsible gambler.

You are very correct, most of we gamblers are always acting  opposite of what we mean by gambling for fun, majority of us literally running after winnings but will never admit we are doing the wrong thing till we end up learning hard lessons. However, the real fun is mostly when we're on a winning streak but for safety purposes we shouldn't be more desperate about it so we won't be victimize in anyway.

What you said here is true, and I agree to every bit of it. Having freedom to gamble as an adult doesn't mean that gambling is for everyone, especially when you lack self control, because we have seen how most people goes into gambling and their life never remains the again, but to some people nothing will change, because they are not that emotional when they lose or they are discipline enough to gamble only with what they can afford to lose.

Furthermore, knowing when to stop is one thing that not all gambling knows, so if you don't know when to call it a day when on a losing streak, gambling is not for you.

You’re right. I can easily think of celebrities who have had gambling problems in the public eye like Bruno Mars, Micheal Jordan, Mayweather and so on. I think for these guys, they earn so much money that even when they lose millions they still find a way to earn it back. My problem with the case OP shared is that the person isn’t a regular or rather doesn’t care much about gambling instead he gives money to someone else to gamble on his behalf. That is what someone persons fail to understand, the fact everyone can access gambling games does not mean that gambling is for everyone, some persons can not withstand the psychological effect gambling games has on it subject if only they do,  then we will have more numbers of experienced and true gamblers in the space that is gamblers who understand the true nature of gamble, it effect if care is not taken, and how to avoid losing one's sanity in the game. While I understand that everyone can gamble. I don't think that gambling is appropriate for everyone. It is not about someone being able to gamble. It is about whether they can manage the risks. And emotions involved in gambling. When playing a casino game, many people are in the game for profit and tend to get greedy, make bad choices, and try to recoup their losses. Self-discipline and self-control are essential to responsible gambling. Some can play it for fun and be "within bounds" while others may have trouble being in control of it and should steer clear of it.

Gambling shouldn't be seen as a source of income especially if you belong to a middle class family. People from high level of life will be able to bear some certain loss, because they will only gamble with what they can afford to lose.
