What worries me about this kind of prediction is that the predictor wouldn't know whose commentary the market is tracking or uses for the final results. Different TV stations deploy different commentators, Super sports, and Sporty TV, for instance, have unique commentaries on a football match.
Even if different TV stations may employ different commentators, there’s usually an official commentary, and that definitely would be the one the market would carry. So if anyone wishes to make such a bet, then they should be sure that they are actually tuned in to the right station that’s giving the official commentary, or else have to just sit, wait and hope that their predictions would turn out great.

Unless so, waiting for the final results is the best option, because not all persons would be watching from a station with the official commentary. Such predictions are pure luck as the chances of hitting a win is very lean, those guys talk so much, thinking of how many times they'll use a specific word is absurd, and the market will make a kill from this concept, whoever they want to crown the winner wins, knowing that not all bettors will absorb the tracking process.

I think there would be a lot of manipulation because the commentators or announcers can be told to say something that goes against what people placed their bet on. I might be wrong but I think this can happen because most of the sports book and leagues work together to manipulate the results of a particular game. I don't really bet on every option I come across, that's why I don't make use of the poly mar because i always stick to what I know. Even if you consider betting on any of these always remember to stake an amount you can afford to lose.
The reason why many of us are skeptical about prediction sites is because there are lots of manipulations inside them, it is very easy to rig because of insider trading are clearly happening, all you have to do is get information or rig an event to win a lot of money so luck is not a major factor to be successful in the prediction market. A dubious announcer can conveniently tell his conspirators how many times he would repeat a word or phrase and all his cronies have to do is to put a lot of money into it and before the game is over they would make huge amount of money without breaking a sweat. Despite the lack of trust about prediction market the industry is gaining ground so it's left for anybody to decide if they want to trade on prediction sites or face the traditional sports bets on gambling sites, in essence we should stake our money on events that we feel comfortable about.

So that there is no problem in determining the correct result or the commentator is not influenced by any force outside the house and the result is not predetermined. However, there is doubt about the extent to which bettors can get the correct result in this type of bet.

Do not let these commentators know that their self-talk is at stake in the Polymarket, fearing manipulation. Lol

I don't know which odds are higher and the most commentators say later, it's like it's difficult to predict, even I myself am not interested at all.
The moment they know, it's cash out time for them. All they need to do is register accounts under every family member's name, their siblings, friends and relatives as well to get on him not saying a particular word/exactly how many times he'll say it any way.

It's crazy that people still bet on ridiculous options like this in an attempt to make money. What about the main event?

It just goes to show the trash that Polymarket will allow you to bet on and the bets that people are taking.
The more the masses entertain it, the more Poly market tends to come up with something even more bizarre.

While I was looking at bets on the World Cup match to be played tonight on a few different platforms, I came across this:

https://polymarket.com/event/what-will-the-announcers-say-during-argentina-vs-spain-world-cup-match-20260716154956883

You can bet on how many times the commentator will say certain words during the Argentina vs. Spain match. For example, there’s an 82% chance he’ll say “VAR” and a 50% chance he’ll say “hat trick.” Since this is a market with relatively low volume, I thought maybe not everyone has noticed it yet. What do you think about this market? I think it makes sense to bet on certain words with odds around 50–60%.
How are these not immediately abused by commentator's friends? I don't see any risk of him mentioning what he says beforehand to one of his friends. I mean close relatives are automatically suspects and usually barred from gambling, but since this isn't technically gambling so even they could be in it. If they wouldn't be afraid that they could be sued later on when all this gets investigated.

I feel like i would be just funding a potential insider scam if i participated to something like this.

I would never risk any coin Roll Eyes or even cheap token in such kind of bets Grin
There are still many "grey points" on these kinds of bets that I would never seen as "funny".
Many gamblers would not agree on such opinion but it always better to have a stepwise approach on these "markets".
Yes these looks "funny" but has no sense and totally out of the context. Plus it seems there are often issues related to "rigged" outcomes.

They can as well initiate a system on their website that counts the number of times the commentator mentions a word, just like the way scores get counted. By doing so, gamblers will have to track their winning chances by refreshing the page to know if the number are tallying with their predictions.

Does the commentator know about these bets? Something tells me yes. In that case, perhaps the commentator even has clear instructions about whether or not they have the right to say something during a football match, and if so, how many times. This might seem ridiculous to some, but I think that if there are events on which bets are accepted, then there will be those who can influence them if they gain their advantage.

And, I don't know, I've never been a fan of such narrow markets, which clearly leave room for manipulation. Although, on the other hand, if you look at how the final between Spain and Argentina ends, and consider that Argentina doesn't take a single shot on goal against Spain, then that too is clearly someone's influence, someone's decision with a specific purpose.

Betting on what the announcer would say is just based only on luck because there are no skills or statistical analysis that can help you know or predict what an announced will say. Just imagine if these officials actually know that people bet on what they are going to say, they can easily bet on themselves and say those words to put them in profit but because they are not allowed to bet there would be some restrictions to this but they can still tell people what to bet on though, this is just a random thought.

Hmm quite interesting, and you believe people would win? For me some betting option are just not easy and the chances of winning this type of bet is almost impossible. I have not even seen this type of bet before., how am not sure that very soon people will begin to gamble what food the player ate before coming to the pitch, gambling on how many times the commentators will say hat trick/ VAR is highly insane. The chances of getting it correctly is nearly impossible. I think people should focus on the more familiar option than an option that makes you spend your fund without hope of wining.

Lol absurd indeed, and that’s why it’s called a gamble, you get to take on some heavy risks, if it works for you, you’re happy and if it doesn’t, then you accept your fate and move on like nothing ever happened lol. And this is in fact the reason why gamblers are advised, whether betting in casinos or the polymarket, to always expect the worst possible outcomes because no option is guaranteed at all, no matter the possibilities.

I agree that this is a chance market with very little analysis. In contrast to conventional sports wagering, the place you can examine groups, statistics or form, providing a forecast for the variety of times a commentator will say a certain word doesn't have a lot of margin for skill. It is a fun game for low stakes, but it's not a real betting game. So, if anyone chooses to play these novelty markets they should only wager an amount they are sure they can lose; the result is unpredictable and the house generally has the advantage.

I rather prefer to bet on matches, because I know this is hard to manipulate and we provably see more fairer result.
I don't bet on irrelevant thing's I can't really count on when I'm gambling, things that can be easily manipulated to put me in lost. However, the only business I have just Incase i want to bet is on the match itself,  since it can be barely twisted in anyway. Sometimes I keep wondering, how some gamblers are just so unbelievable, they're ready to even bet on who the first corner is been awarded to.

Betting on what the announcer will say is like betting on the basis of tips or on the basis of other people's advice which is actually legitimate because the right of each of us is also in betting. I am sure of the many people who like to do gambling there are some people who do like to do things like this and I myself have done it because it is interested but this does not last long and in the end I still believe in luck so betting on your own choice or betting on what the announcer will say does not guarantee victory.

Do not let these commentators know that their self-talk is at stake in the Polymarket, fearing manipulation. Lol

I don't know which odds are higher and the most commentators say later, it's like it's difficult to predict, even I myself am not interested at all.

Come on... I prefer to bet on his matches only, not outside the match.
My question is, don't you think the commentators are already aware of this, the polymarket is common knowledge so there's a high chance that they already know that people place bets on what they are going to say but my guess is they probably pay zero attention to it. For me betting on is of no interest to me because it's a lot more riskier than the normal options we bet on. Most bettors prefer to bet on options they can analyze with the help of statistics.

What do you think about this market?

Ok, that's new and nah I ain't fan of it and wouldn't bet on it either. Easiest thing to manipulate, as said by others. Betting markets should only be available for things which have less chance for manipulation.

one should always do good research before placing any such type of bets.

What kind of research in this? Even if leave manipulation part alone in such type of bets, watch hours long matches and keep record of how many times commentator speaks certain words!? ah! I could never think of doing such, too much brain strain (that rhymed well).

However, in this case, the most impartial and correct thing is to ensure that the commentator of a specific TV channel will be taken and to inform bettors in advance. So that there is no problem in determining the correct result or the commentator is not influenced by any force outside the house and the result is not predetermined. However, there is doubt about the extent to which bettors can get the correct result in this type of bet.

For this kind of market, I believe transparency is the most crucial aspect. When the sportsbook doesn't explicitly indicate the commentator and broadcast feed that will be used, there are bound to be disputes as different commentators will likely use different words and phrases. The rules should clearly state how results are to be checked and what to do if a broadcast is interrupted or a last minute commentator changes. This sounds more like a market that is reliant on interpretation than skill, which isn't the most desirable for anyone, bettors or bookmaker.

Indeed, is just like following someone who post their bets online or a friend/relative who tells you that they are going to bet for that specific team, not because you know the game or you understand the advantage but jsut because announcer state that there's a potential that the team or the player will going to win, at the end of the day, you are still inside gambling and nothing is certain no one can dictate what will be the outcome till the final buzzers or till the end time.

How do this even make any sense? This is one of the reasons why I hate Polymarket, like what the hell is this? How can you be able to figure out how many words a commentator is going to use? That's impossible

At the point it will become a gamble of numbers, even Dice is better because it has shapes that anyone can use to their thinking advantages, dice has limited shape and numbers on them is all known.

Why are people engaging in such bets? They are surely going to end up making polymarket even richer, these people will never learn I believe.
