Or are there other ways to make money with bitcoin as a small investor rather than just buy and hold?
Investors can do many ways to get good profits from Bitcoin itself, one way is:

Where investors can use methods that are often used by small investors, such as the Routine Installment Method, where investors can make Bitcoin purchases regularly, to increase their weekly or monthly Bitcoin investment, of course without paying attention to rising and falling prices, but investors remain focused on the long term.
For example, starting now with a price of $65k you buy weekly $100/0.00153 btc, a month you have invested $400 and you already have 0.00612 btc, for a period of one year you already have 0.073 btc at a price of $65k, with capital of $4,800, when the price of Bitcoin rises to the level of $150k you have made a big profit with a sale of $10 950.

This means that the investor has pocketed a profit of $6,150 over a period of one year, when you do the Regular Installment method for three years, you will have a profit of $18,450, this method is the best way for small investors to invest in Bitcoin to achieve big profits.

There are many ways to make profit from bitcoin if only you have the knowledge to do that. First of all, you can use the $1,000 to buy bitcoin in cryptocurrency exchange and you become an exchange vendor or buyer and p2p vendor in the exchange buy you have to register with them first. Then there is another way again, you can become a trader but you need good experience to do that so you won't lost funds. But the former is the best because it gives you the privilege to be an investor in the exchange. Why I am suggesting this alternatives because keeping the $1k in the wallet for a very long time might not give you the needed profit as you started in the Op.

Bitcoin is one of the fairest assets for small investors, you can still make a profit as long as you believe in its long-term growth. The problem isn't your limited financial resources, but rather the expectation of "getting rich quick 200%. Bitcoin punishes investors who rush and rewards those who consistently invest, even if the purchase amount is small, but sustainably over the long term.
Yes, there are other ways, but they carry risks. From the safest, they become the riskiest. So, instead of considering other, highly risky methods, it's better for small investors to do DCA regularly according to their ability, forget about it for 3-4 years, don't use borrowed money to buy Bitcoin, and don't be tempted by other quick fixes.

Overall you’re correct but i think there’s also a trade off to some things you’ve said.

Bitcoin is still a very volatile asset regardless.

We all know that there have been times where bitcoin has suffered multi-year periods of underwater performance and there’s a good chance that something like that will happen again probably in the nearest future.

You saying “forget about it for 3-4 years” is sounding like a very simple thing to do but the fact still remains that, an advice like that will only work if the person is mentally strong enough to handle watching their investment drop by 50%-80% without fretting out and do something retarded; you’d be suprised at how many of the people who think they can handle volatility when the price is going up but if for a moment the price happens to drop lower than they expected they start to shit their pants.

It's easier said then done to buy Bitcoin when market is down and sell when market goes high. Right now the market is down and it's down since past many weeks but if you look around or read posts here then majority are discussing the possibility of Bitcoin price going up. There are not much discussion going on about how to accumulate Bitcoin during this bearish season. Having said that people who have strong nerves to buy Bitcoin now are the one who will enjoy the upcoming bull season rest will only regret when price goes up.
We have even been bearish before and I think it is even worse than this so it should be not only a discussion that needs to be done but also action.

Those who have ever felt a bigger decline in terms of percentage already know this kind of pattern will occur in bitcoin where bearish occurs so there is no need to discuss what needs to be done and simply buy everything will return as usual even in bullish later we can get more profits in the hope that ATH continues to occur.
The discount is still not over although some people say the bearish is not over yet but that does not mean we wait any longer than this because it is likely that this speculation is wrong and all we have to do is buy as long as we can afford.
If we only focus on discussing how to accumulate without any movement in buying then everything will only be left behind because we are too focused in theory but do not take action as our real form in the accumulation of bitcoin.

But even at that we still have long term investors still holding their bitcoin portfolio while, some are still using DCA to keep their bitcoin accumulation ongoing till they have reached their bitcoin target.

Provided that you have a long term investment mindset and use your discretionary income to accumulate bitcoin with the amount that wouldn't affect you financially, when there's a dip you might panic but not to the point of selling at loss.

This is why brand new investors who don't have the confidence in bitcoin should start buying with little amount from their discretionary income till when they have learned by experience due to consistent purchase and gained more confidence in Bitcoin, they can increase their DCA amount and invest aggressively to cover up for the period they were still learning and accumulating in a whimpy way

But if I'm hoping to make a 200% profit on my investment bitcoin price will have to get to $256k, how achievable is that ? And if it's achievable how long is it going to take

Which brings me back to my question
Can small investors actually make good profit with bitcoin?

Or are there other ways to make money with bitcoin as a small investor rather than just buy and hold?
We just have to enjoy the investment process that we do because it would be a little wrong if our focus is only on profits even though maybe it is also understandable because investments often we expect profits but need to remember that bitcoin is risky and when we only focus on profits but do not expect the initial process or do not enjoy the investment we make then I think everything will not run smoothly.

$1000 is already big enough for the beginning but rather than doing it directly I think it would be better to make this as a gradual purchase or if you do have more finances to buy at once $1000 can but of course we will not stop here if you really want to make an investment because I feel now in the end this will continue when it already has the intention to invest.
To know how long it is is uncertain especially when you focus only on uniqueness but what is certain here for me is that we will still benefit if we invest our funds into bitcoin and do it for the long term. I know there are risks and nothing is certain here but when looking at the data and the history of bitcoin's rise it is still possible that profits will come one day.

Actually, I also think of this. Honestly, if my goal is to make more than 2x ROI, I would go for top alts. I won't name a coin, but if your goal is to have more than 2x ROI with limited funds, you're better off with top alts. There is still a chance they could hit 3x or more during the bull run compared to BTC. They are not a bad choice, but of course, compared to BTC, you can be more confident when it comes to making a profit. The feeling that BTC gives, that your ROI is more secure, is still better.

Would you rather take more risk for more profit or settle for lower ROI but be more confident?

This is not something that can happen within a short period of time though it is definitely going to take a long time and without patience there is no way w significant amount of profit can be made from it. Not everyone is capable of taking high risks, some people want to invest but they have financial restraints.

For small investors DCA is always going to be the best strategy because this is actually what the pace they can go with to avoid getting pressured. This strategy works perfectly if they can be patient enough.

Lastly, for someone that doesn't have a lot of capital you should not even consider trading BTC because this is more riskier compared to hodling Bitcoin.

You could just say alts and not top alts because the word 'top' is not defined. Do you mean top 10 or top 50 when you said top alts?
If it is top 10, I can guarantee you that no top 10 coin will make 3x without BTC making 2x.

Don't forget what happened in the last cycle. Altcoins disappointed everyone. Infact Eth struggled for many years to hit 4k again while BTC met successive ATHs.
From the present $64k, hitting 2x is $128k which is just about the previous ATH. So, if bull run hits, bitcoin will confidently give 2x while many alts will disappoint as usual.

Investing in Bitcoin with patience alone is not make success. A person who has patience mentally but does not have the financial ability in reality or has the financial ability but does not do proper fund management, will not be able to invest in Bitcoin for the long term as expected, nor will he be able to hold it. If a person buys Bitcoin with money for his emergency needs, then no matter how much he says he is a long-term holder, in reality he will have to sell Bitcoin when an emergency arises. Then even if he has patience, it will not work, because financial pressure will make him a forced seller. Another thing to know is that DCA helps reduce risk, but does not eliminate risk. Bitcoin is volatile, there can be big corrections, the price can remain the same for a long time, if the investor sets the buying amount incorrectly during this time, it will be harmful for him. So patience is definitely needed, but with patience, financial discipline is needed. Bitcoin investment is sustainable only when the investor buys with an amount that he can keep untouched for a long time.

Actually, it’s not a simple thing to do but still it’s very much possible to achieve. Panicking when there’s a drop in price is what happens when an investor invests more than he can afford to lose, and not only that, it also happens when an investor comes to bitcoin investment with the mindset of making quick profit and such mindset is a trader’s mindset and not a real investors mindset. First and foremost, a smart investor wouldn’t go all in and invest with not more than he can afford to lose and that’s why it’s advisable to invest with a discretionary income after taking care of their basic needs, and the money left with them can be used as discretionary income which they won’t be needing anytime soon after putting it into bitcoin investment and mind you a smart investor will also know that he needs an emergency funds to protect his investment incase of an emergency situation at such he can decide how much of his discretionary income he can allocate to buying bitcoin and how much to be allocated for building up emergency funds in order to achieve this long term plan.

If you want to make profit with $1k in Bitcoin, then be patient enough to hold, there is no magic anywhere, even trading will ruin you if you want to go about that but can't advise you to go into it. What's certain about Bitcoin investment is that, you'll get your profit no matter the time taking.

Since you are sure of the profit, the best solution is for you to stack more and more if you can.

Bitcoin is volatile, and the price changes time to time. By investing $1k to get huge money in bitcoin, you can probably achieve that, but he won’t be easy, because bitcoin is not like before anymore that make the price pump deep and get huge profits. You’re right, we always need patient in bitcoin investment, we can’t reach our goal easily, we need to continue holding and have patient with what we’re doing. Using DCA method can help you grow your bitcoin investment, and you can be getting profits gradual when price is increasing. Nothing always comes easy, we always need to face some little challenges in our investment journey, and that is the price volatile.

Nothing is good for a short period of time, but in every case, a long-term plan can be successful. Those who are more patient can make more profit, so they should make a long-term plan and not just use limited money for investment, but it is better to invest more when they get the opportunity. For small investors, DCA is the best strategy, since they do not have enough money, so they will not have to face much pressure if they continue this strategy. If you invest by following DCA, it is possible to get a very good profit from it after a long time, but of course you have to hold it. However, those who have a small amount of money should always avoid trading because it is risky and can lose money at any time. So the best strategy for small investors is to do DCA and invest and hold for a long time, but there will be hope of getting profit in the future.

If I took my  investment very savely then I will prefer Bitcoin. But I also think its better to invest some money in Alts coins  although there  is some more risk in it.  But there is more profit margin in it but from alts coin I choose only those coins which are included in top 50 coins after I also prefer only those coins from these 50 coin who have more use case . As we know its a very big deal to do 2x in Bitcoin. But in which duration Bitcoin do its 2x Alts coins can do its 4x  to 5x that's why according to my opinion I invest my  70% in Bitcoin and 30% in Alts coins. But i also do complete research and I do not put my all investment in only one token of Alts coin but I choose 3 to 4 tokens of Alts coin to invest so that I face less lose .

You have arranged the numbers in your example as if you are sure that the future price will remain at this rate. But in reality, this is not the case, the price of Bitcoin is not fixed in one place. Today we may see $65k but the price can fluctuate at different rates in the future 1 year. There is also a small error in your calculation. If you buy $100 a week for 52 weeks, your total investment will be $5200, not $4800. And if you calculate 48 purchases four times a month, then it is fine.

What I cannot agree with in any way is that you have taken $65k as the price for your 1 year buying routine. But you may not have considered that if the price of Bitcoin increases from the middle of the year, you will get less Bitcoin than before even if you buy with that $100, but on the contrary, if the price decreases, you will get more. Actually, what I understand is that the real result of the regular buying method depends on the different purchase prices throughout the time, not on a fixed purchase price.

Although there is no certainty of success from the investment, if a person is able to hold it for a long time, then his chances of success are much higher. In Bitcoin investment, everything is involved in holding it for a long time and taking the investment to a successful level, we cannot give the entire responsibility on patience alone. Because proper financial management has a lot of importance in holding it for a long time. If a person cannot manage his financial situation properly, then he will never be able to hold it for a long time. Because even if he is willing to hold it for a long time and if he has patience, then he will be forced to sell his holdings due to the mistakes of his financial situation.

The DCA strategy is very effective for every investor. One thing to always keep in mind is that they should not invest such an amount of money that the amount of money is outside their discretionary fund. So invest through proper financial management and hold it for a long time with patience.

I understand the logic of the strategy you have chosen of 70% Bitcoin and 30% altcoins. Many people keep some exposure to altcoins in the hope of accelerating the growth of their portfolio. However for me the risk i am taking on the return of that return is more important than the potential profit. No investment can be called good just by looking at the lure of 4x or 5x returns unless there is a high risk of losing the original capital. Being in the top 50 or having a good user base for a project is certainly a good thing. but it is not right to see it as a guarantee of long term security. If you extend the history of crypto a little You will see that many coins that once reigned at the top have disappeared over time. so there is no opportunity to sit back and relax by looking at the market cap or use case. Similarly i do not think that the risk has been reduced by dividing the money invested in 3-4 altcoins. Because when the entire crypto space crashes in a bear market storm almost all altcoins lose 80-90% of their value together. Diversification may be a strategy but it is not a magic solution to all types of risks. The real question is what level of risk am i taking and how aware I am of it. Personally my main focus has always been on accumulating Bitcoin. The real strength of Bitcoin is not limited to returns but its real strength is its decentralization specific limited supply network security and real history of survival over the past decade and a half. I feel comfortable keeping a large part of my capital in assets whose long term structure I have 100% confidence in. Even so if someone understands their risk and wants to keep a part of their portfolio in altcoins that is a purely personal decision. In my eyes the main question of investment is not which coin will give me the highest profit overnight? The real question is what strategy can I maintain for the next 10 years without any deviations? Long term success does not always come from chasing the biggest profits but from a disciplined plan that can sustain you through any bad market conditions. And that is exactly why Bitcoin deserves to be a cornerstone of any portfolio.

Which brings me back to my question
Can small investors actually make good profit with bitcoin?
Yes. If you can get consistent with the small amount you're  accumulating.

It's exciting to note that a lot of us investing in bitcoin aren't doing it for immediate returns of profits as that mentality have shown to be disappointing to those who come in with a double-on-capital profit mindset than a long term  holding mindset. Bitcoin is a volatile asset and you can't be certain when price would move high from one price to another, so, a long term investment plan is the sure way to not  worry about not making profit be you a small or big investor.

Volatility of Bitcoin is not a bad factor for investor that wants to invest and hold for long-term, it is only a problem to short-term investors that want to buy and profit from Bitcoin within a short interval of time. Hence, I do not consider volatility as a problem since I lean towards long term investment and also recommend same for all.

Like many people have already pointed out, profits is possible for Bitcoin for all level of investor but it is more feasible when the investment is held for long. The challenge is how to ensure the investment is made a continuous one and the possibility of protecting the investment which is where the DCA method, concept of emergency funds and other protective funds comes into the picture.

Although every person has the right to decide which method he will invest through and where he will invest. But we are discussing long-term investment in this thread and the main focus of this thread is Bitcoin. So I hope we are not talking about shitcoin in this thread or are not failing to understand the difference between Bitcoin and shitcoin.

Yes, it is true that sometimes shitcoins make a lot of profit to a person and if a person invests in shitcoin along with Bitcoin, if he profits once, he can become greedy and can completely get rid of Bitcoin and gradually get attracted to shitcoin and face losses. Most of the shitcoins in the market are fraudulent and these are created to deceive. Do not put everyone at risk by asking them to invest in shitcoins and do not put others at risk.
