Can you name any top altcoin that even doubled from its previous ATH during the last cycle, let alone made a x4 or x5 return?
If to consider hyperliquid, launched on 2024 with a price of $3 and then the peak price for 2025 was $58.
Although the ATH did happened for this year at $74.
But if we are going to look at the start of 2025, it only gained x2.

It's undeniable that Bitcoin is no longer small, and exponential growth at this stage is not easy. But making a x2 or x3 return on your initial investment in Bitcoin is not impossible.
This is what they don't like, these investors like to see skyrocketing that can make them 1000% gains.
I think that mindset isn't removed yet but we're starting to see a clarity on this market that most gains won't be that much and exaggerated anymore.
IMHO, it's more of a balanced movement now and more distributed market cap to the stronger projects.

It's undeniable that Bitcoin is no longer small, and exponential growth at this stage is not easy. But making a x2 or x3 return on your initial investment in Bitcoin is not impossible.

I can name a few but, let me limit it to Solana (Sol) and Ripple (XRP) both these altcoins were able to double their initial price. In fact, I noticed Solana at over $200+ and it is indeed one of the projects that we would say has a good plan and blockchain about it which is utilized and has the capacity to expand but, none of that can be compared to what is achievable with Bitcoin.

Bitcoin did double its price and added a good amount on top of it. Considering the fact that majority of the altcoins out there do base and trace their moves to whatever is going on with Bitcoin, Bitcoin is certainly where anyone looking to invest should be looking.

The price isn’t out of reach, in fact you can buy whichever faction of it you want but, don’t stop with a one time purchase, use DCA and you would count your profits in a few years.

The results will depend on how well you plan and execute your investments. If you only make a one-time investment, then timing will be key to how likely you are to make a profit. The same goes for investing small amounts regularly; it can still be profitable, but you need to maintain consistency. Investing in Bitcoin isn’t easy, especially if your mindset is immediately focused on doubling the Bitcoin you own.
any experienced person investing in Bitcoin can not think of doubling his investment. Not any time soon. Investing in Bitcoin can either be as a lump sum investment or a DCA. A lumpsum is what you referred to as the one time investment while the DCA approach is the one you put in money gradually, this second approach makes it easier to manage your risks without letting the money go like that because the lump sum is when you drop plenty money in your investment portfolio

any experienced person investing in Bitcoin can not think of doubling his investment. Not any time soon.
Experience investors must know well how long they should hold their Bitcoins. In general, investors hold for 1 cycle at least (around 4 years). But there are also investors who plan to hold for a longer time, they may hold for 8 years or more. It will depend on how big their target for gaining the possible profits.

Buying with DCA method or buying at once is okay, both of them can be good. People who have quite a lot of money, they can buy at once when they assume it is quite low price for Bitcoin price in the bearish season. Meanwhile people who have limited funds, they can buy through DCA method. I'm sure, both of the approaches are okay as long as the investors do it through deep analysis. I mean they don't do it based on their intuition.

Any newbie could have reasonable questions in terms of bitcoin's future potentialities in terms of profits and even in terms of its ability to outperform other possible places that they could put their time, energy and value.  Those can be allocation choices, and surely we know that there are no guarantees of profits, even if we might recognize bitcoin as the soundest money (and asset) that has ever existed, we still might want to consider our allocation level, even if we might start by lump summing into bitcoin with $1k, then thereafter we might consider if we want to continue to put value into bitcoin and for how long?  If we might choose to invest $50 per week, then after 1 year we would have had invested an additional $2,600 and after 10 years we would have had invested $26k.

I completely comprehend your point, these are the kind of question a new investors in bitcoin space should ask before even start a bitcoin journey. It is normal for new investors if they want to know, if bitcoin can still deliver good returns in future. Weather it can  outperform others investment, those concerns are very understandable, because it shows desire to understand what you are about to investing in. And again they should not allow those questions to stop them from starting their bitcoin investment, they should only use the questions as motivation to learn more about bitcoin investment. They should also understand that no investment permits profit in return, and bitcoin is no exception. This is the reason one should focus on  managing risks, build knowledge and only invest what you can afford to lose.

Now I come to the question which you asked from me In June 2022

1 Polygon (MATIC) coin was 0.32$ but in November 2022 till the start of 2023 its price gone high from 1.30$ to 1.50$ from which buyer got  almost 4x to 4.5x profit.

2 Lido DAO (LDO) coin In june 2022 its price was 0.40$ to 0.50$ and in August 2022 its price reached to 2.60$ to 2.70$  the buyer of this coin gain almost 5x to 5.5x profit.

3 Trust Walid Token ( TWT) in the mid of 2022 its price was 0.50$ to 0.60$ and in mid of November and December the price of this coin reached to the 2.70$ it also give his buyers 4.5x to 5x  profit .

4 OKB (OKB) coin In June 2022 its value was 8.50$ from the end of 2022 till start of 2023 its price reached to 40$ to 45$ its buyers also got 4.5x to 5x profit.
Uniswap (UNI) in June 2022 its price was near 3.5$ and in August 2022 its reached to 9.80$ to 10.00$ its buyers also got 3x to 4x profit .

I agree what you have said we should invest some where wether it is in Bitcoin or Altscoins the people who invest in it and hold it they got profit one day whether they invest in Bitcoin or in Altscoin .
This is a bitcoin thread and not shitcoins. I wonder why you want to mislead newbies into investing in shitcoins when we know that they're all gambling coins. All the shitcoins that you mentioned above ain't performing well because I just checked their prices and there isn't any improvement compare bitcoin price from 2022 till date.

Brand new investor should avoid shitcoins like a plague because it will put you into big losses since they're pump and dump coin created to scam people of their hard earned money. Invest only in bitcoin and use DCA method to grow your bitcoin stash overtime for 4-10 years and above because bitcoin is a long term asset for the future and a store of value overtime while shitcoin is the opposite.

Self-Custody is a right. Say no to "non-custodial"

The only questions that a newbie bitcoin investor needs to figure out is the extent to which he has discretionary funds and from where is he going to start to buy bitcoin.  He can figure out the details as he goes.

It tends to take a long time to figure out various cashflow management matters and even projecting forwards various bitcoin performance scenarios as compared with how much money that a guy might be ready, willing and/or able to put into bitcoin in the coming 4-10 years or longer.

Those questions do not need to be answered or even asked before getting started as long as the bitcoin newbie figures out that he has discretionary funds, it may well be a good idea to get the fuck started rather than trying to work on things that tend to take a long time and that are evolving.

Also, if the bitcoin newbie knows that he has $1k right from the start that he is ready, willing and able to invest into bitcoin, there is no reason that he has to use all that money to buy bitcoin right away.  He can consider buying right away, DCA and/or buying on dip.  He also can consider the extent to which he has future discretionary income (that is left over money after accounting for basic expenses) coming in that he is able to use to buy bitcoin on a regular basis, perhaps weekly.   In my earlier response, I used the example of $50 per week, yet surely each guy has to figure out his own quantity of discretionary income that he has available and how much of it he wants to use for investing versus savings versus discretionary consumption.

Even though many of us (including yours truly) tend to gravitate towards choosing some weekly amount, we know that in reality both income  and basic expenses can vary, which also will cause the discretionary income to vary too.  Accordingly, guys will not necessarily end up being consistent in their weekly buy amounts, and they also may well want to spend a decent amount of time both looking into bitcoin and also looking into their cashflow situation in order to help themselves to learn more about each of those topics as they might be incentivized to do so based on their desire to build their wealth - even if OP might currently be a bit distracted by the lurings of short-term profits which tend to be a trader and/or gambler kind of mentality, even though in the subject matter of his post, he specifically refers to himself (or his interest) as being that of an investor.

Of course, there can be a bit of a challenge when newbies to bitcoin are not sure about the ongoing strength of bitcoin's investment thesis, so they might be disinclined to get started buying bitcoin until they are able to develop more confidence that bitcoin is a good place for them to be putting their time, energy and value.  I am not sure how to get bitcoin curious people to get over the hump in which they start to recognize an importance in getting started buying bitcoin rather than getting distracted by other assets and other places that they can put their time, energy and value.  It seems that they largely need to figure some part of that out for themselves, and surely part of the reason that we may well get a lot of newbies buying into bitcoin during periods that its price is going up greatly in value is because number go up brings hype, even though it might not be as good of a time for guys to get started buying into bitcoin during the upward price periods, even though so frequently many of us have witnessed a noticeable amount of newbies rushing into bitcoin while the price is going up rather than during consolidation periods and/or during periods that the BTC price is going down.

1) Self-Custody is a right.  Resist being labelled as: "non-custodial" or "un-hosted."  2) ESG, KYC & AML are attack-vectors on Bitcoin to be avoided or minimized.  3) How much alt (shit)coin diversification is necessary? if you are into Bitcoin, then 0%......if you cannot control your gambling, then perhaps limit your alt(shit)coin exposure to less than 10% of your bitcoin size...Put BTC here: bc1q49wt0ddnj07wzzp6z7affw9ven7fztyhevqu9k

True, Bitcoin is the only true asset worth investing in.
One thing about alt and meme coin is that it's a matter of which one is more shitty than the other, because they are all full of shit. If you look at Solana and it performance in recent years, you will understand why I say that it's just a matter of which one is more shitty than the other, because most of other alt and meme coin are even worse, that's why investing in any asset aside Bitcoin is not worth it.
I am not going to try to play the role of a saviour to stop people from investing in shitty coin, but if they are hell bent on gambling on them, they should investment like 2% of your discretionary income, so that they wouldn't be that affected if their investment didn't later go as planned.

I have been thinking lately about how investing in bitcoin is actually a great idea but also it can be really hard to make profit off bitcoin if you're a small Investor
Imagine this:
If bitcoin is at $64k and me as a small investor bought with $1k, for me to make 100% profit bitcoin will have to hit $128k, that is still feasible
But if I'm hoping to make a 200% profit on my investment bitcoin price will have to get to $256k, how achievable is that ? And if it's achievable how long is it going to take

Which brings me back to my question
Can small investors actually make good profit with bitcoin?

Or are there other ways to make money with bitcoin as a small investor rather than just buy and hold?

If Bitcoin goes from $64k to $256k, it means BTC will be worth 400% of its current value, and the gain itself will be 300%, not 200%. So, if you invest $1k today, you'll make a $3k profit. Is it achievable? In my opinion, yes. I don't know about other price predictions people are talking about, such as $1 million or $2 million, but I think something around $256k is quite possible, considering that Bitcoin adoption could easily increase tenfold from today's 400 million users.

It is completely normal to feel like it is harder for small investors, but you absolutely can make a good profit. The secret is just taking the pressure off yourself to time the market perfectly.
Instead of dropping all $1,000 at once and stressing over daily charts, maybe try putting in $20 or $50 a week. It takes the emotion out of it and helps you build a position safely over time. You've got this.

Any small investors most definitely feels it, is very hard for them to get a good profit in bitcoin. Anything can be possible, but you just need to wait for the long term before you can get what you need in Bitcoin. But if you need fast money, that means you can probably look for more ways to invest in other coins that will boost your capital fast, but nothing comes easy. It can be a high risk when chasing fast money.

The price of Bitcoin can change anytime, and we can’t predict how it will become in the short or long term. But it will be better if you invest with the amount you have. As a small investor, gradually you become a big investor and achieve good profit. But for now, you can just be managing your funds by investing in small amounts, not until you rush into other coins and mistakenly take high risk.

If you want to be at peace, it is better not to have these high expectations about Bitcoin because even if Bitcoin will go that high, you don't know when it will happen and if it will even be during the time of your children. To make things a lot easier for yourself, you can simply change your perspective such that instead of aiming for 300% or more, you simply invest for the other advantages that Bitcoin have such as a better alternative to fiat in terms of inflation and the profits it gives when held across halving years.

I still believe that Bitcoin is a good investment option when compared to other asset classes considering the ease of investing, operating cost and so many cost that are involved in other businesses. Bitcoin completely eliminate all that as what you need is just to buy and hold in a safe wallet where you control the private keys.

Personally, I'm investing in Bitcoin with the hope of making profits and at the same time, to preserve my money against fiat because our local currency is terrible to hold as inflation is eating it up at an alarming rate.

It is better not to give knowledge to a person than to give risky knowledge. Because by investing in other coins in the market, a person can be a victim of fraud and there are many coins in the market that are created to cheat. If you try to compare Bitcoin and Sheetcoin, then you are a fool and you do not have a real idea about Bitcoin. Hopefully we understand that Bitcoin is the only coin that should be invested in. It is better not to mislead anyone and attract them towards Sheetcoin by talking about Sheetcoin and the subject of this thread is Bitcoin.

Nothing in the short term is good, for example, suppose a tree is 10 years old and a tree is 3 months old. Now if you are asked to lift two trees, then you can easily lift the 3-month-old tree but you cannot lift the 10-year-old tree. So nothing in the short term is good, hold on patiently and in the long term it is good for you and for everyone.

If BTC price increases by 200%, the market cap would reach 3x the current market cap, which would be 1.29T x 3 = 3.87T [1].

Based on today's market caps, that would be enough to put Bitcoin in 4th place, below Alphabet (Google) and above Microsoft [2].

It would also be in 4th place if you include precious metals like gold and silver. Bitcoin would replace silver in 5th place, which only has a 3.267T market cap [3].

Your goal of making a 200% profit on a Bitcoin investment is still feasible. However, if you want to achieve that 200% in a short time, I think you should probably reconsider your decision to invest in Bitcoin because I am almost 100% sure Bitcoin is not a HYIP. It's not a get rich quick scheme.

This is probably an unpopular opinion, but for a small amount of capital, chasing higher returns is the "better" way to make a meaningful difference instead of chasing stability and safety. Because even if you switch to other assets like gold, for example, the chance of getting that level of growth is similar. It's feasible, but it takes time.

Look at gold's performance. It took a very long time just to achieve a 100% gain [4].

So in this case, not financial advice... finding a good performing altcoin, trading memecoins, or other high risk assets that can offer you a chance for higher gains could be a good choice. But, of course, higher potential returns come with a much higher probability of losing money.

Once you reach a certain point, you can switch your strategy to target safer and steadier gains.

However, if you want to stick with Bitcoin to achieve that 200%, I think you can try allocating part of your money to BTCFi and futures trading. So instead of just holding, make your BTC productive through lending, borrowing, restaking, etc.

Learn futures trading and only use 5 to 10% of that allocation. With good trading skills and proper risk management, you could probably achieve a 200% return faster, possibly even before Bitcoin itself reaches a 200% price increase. In that case, you would be able to outperform Bitcoin.

any experienced person investing in Bitcoin can not think of doubling his investment.
You are right, but I think before anyone can decide to invest, they should first understand how Bitcoin works properly, as they will understand the options that are better for them to achieve success because investing blindly can lead them to financial issues, which might ruin their emotions including their personal relationships. A lot of people do invest without knowing the right principles to apply and when to apply it, so that before getting started, they understand important a strong foundation is.

But for now, you can just be managing your funds by investing in small amounts, not until you rush into other coins and mistakenly take high risk.

In my opinion the idea that it is difficult for small investors to make good profits in Bitcoin or that they should go to altcoins to grow their portfolio is a clear mistake. If Bitcoin pumps 100% or 200% then whether your portfolio is $100 or $100,000 the percentage return is the same for both. A 100% profit on $100 is $200, and a 100,000 is $200. In terms of proportion Bitcoin does not discriminate between small and large investors. Therefore the idea that small capital means less profit in Bitcoin is completely baseless. Rather it is very risky to advise small investors to go to altcoins in the fantasy of quickly increasing capital. Before giving this advice to make money quickly with altcoins we should look at the history of the crypto market. If you look at the data from previous cycles you will see that many of the brilliant projects that once reigned in the top 10 or top 20 of crypto have completely disappeared or are now extinct. Most altcoins which came to the market with big promises or hype ultimately failed to maintain their value compared to Bitcoin. Therefore jumping into altcoins to quickly increase capital is often not profitable but a trap of losing real money in your pocket.Personally my main goal has always been to accumulate Bitcoin. The real power of Bitcoin does not depend only on its potential profit rate; its real power lies in its decentralization, fixed supply, state-of the art network security and its proven history of surviving thousands of adversities over the past decade and a half. I always feel comfortable putting my capital in an asset whose long-term structure I have 100% confidence in. At the end of the day, if someone wants to keep their portfolio in altcoins despite knowing all these facts and extreme risks that is entirely their personal choice. But knowingly taking unnecessary risks that lead to excessive greed means bringing harm to themselves instead of their own financial security.

The second investment strategy you talked about (DCA) is where small investors fall in and how they can make good profits in the future, i don't expect them to keep waiting to gather little amount till it becomes big then lumpsum with it, that's a waste of time cause of volatility, the market could surge while waiting to gather money for lumpsum so it's better they invest the small amount they generate consistent and over time it could turn out great as Bitcoin tend to go higher in the future.

says that people should learn more about Bitcoin before they invest any money. Many of the new traders look at the profit opportunity and forget about the volatility and length of time that the asset will exist. No matter what approach you take, whether lump sum or DCA. It can only be done on a realistic basis if you invest money that you can afford to set aside for several years. There are ways to make a significant return on your investment if you are a small investor. But generally it's more about the patience. Consistency and knowledge that you have.

Once an investor start considering this an an option, then he is no longer investing, instead he is either trading or gambling which put his capital in huge risk. Investment in Bitcoin needs patience, so if you cannot be patient with it, and you go ahead to gamble and take stupid risk on alt and meme coin, just know that you  will cry sooner or later.

I may not kick against lending and borrowing your Bitcoin to someone you are confident can repay you back with interest, but what I kick against is re-staking  that you spoke of, that's a very big mistake anyone should ever make, because staking comes with high risk where your Bitcoin will be at risk of hacking or theft in that period of time your are staking/locking it in an exchange.

It's easier said than done bro, and as a matter of fact, trading is the most difficult skill to attain. If trading is that easy, don't you think that many traders would have been filthy rich by now?
Just buy and accumulate consistently, because having a large stash of it is the only way you can make it big, when Bitcoin has gone to a million dollar or more, not by messing around with shit coin or trading the market that will do you more harm than good.

Even when you drop a lump sum of money in your investment at a go, it does no still suggest that you are throwing it all away as your opinion is trying to suggest, it rather means that you have the financial means of doing so and rather than waiting to buy smaller fraction of bitcoin till you can attain same level that you can attain at a single spot if you bought all at a time, buying in lump sum becomes the best option for an investor.

Every big investor was once upon a time a small investor and if the big investor is capable of being profitable at his investment, the small investor is capable of achieving same feet if they are consistent enough with their investment. the kind of stack you hope to get is not attained at a single go and that means that starting small and pushing to build a robust portfolio after a long time is a sure way to go.

After all the good things you said about the two coins you mentioned, you concluded by saying non of both can be measured with Bitcoin, what does that mean to you? To me my take home from this statement is that, it can only be Bitcoin, of course I know that different investors have their decisions as long as it has to do with digital assets, but bitcon is a different asset that operates in a unique way, Bitcoin has performed to the extent that no matter what anyone say even major altcoiners will still have to say there is no project that can be compared to it including Gold which does not fall into digital asset, no investment can survive what bitcon went through, the government bullying, I may have deviated but when talking about Bitcoin people have to be reminded that for many reasons which are past events, Bitcoin is worth investing in, but we must invest properly to avoid bouncing out when we did not plan to.
