At the same time, ignoring the volatility, to continue investing with confidence, we must invest with discretionary funds. Because when the investment is made with the necessary money beyond our ability, then we will have less power to ignore the volatility, because when you see it decrease after investing the necessary money, then the panic will deepen in you, and besides, will we be able to hold the necessary money for the long term? Of course not, because we will need the money at that specific time of need, and despite the loss at that time, we will have to sell our investment and take the money to meet that need, where there will be a high possibility of a very big loss. That is why with the right plan, you must invest with the right amount, which you can hold for the long term, because for good success there is no alternative to continuous long-term holding. Exactly dude, when people invest outside the discretionary funds they'll see reasons to worry about volatility cause they were relying on the progress of the investment to settle needs, however the discretionary funds brings comfort, less worry and confidence to keep going, knowing that the coin would likely recover as time goes. I hear some people say investing on Bitcoin can be very tough, yeah it has it's own challenges or risk factors rather but it's not too complicated if people do it rightly, I've figured that the toughness for some people is mostly having patience and knowing the funds to invest with.

Can small investors actually make good profit with bitcoin?
Of course, small investors are most likely to benefit from Bitcoin investment, imagine and see if you had held Bitcoin from the past, you could have made 100% 200% 300% plus profit today. You can take the opportunity to invest in Bitcoin right now, but you can definitely succeed by purchasing Bitcoin at one time and purchasing Bitcoin according to the DCA method. One-time purchase Those who have enough money can deposit Bitcoin by purchasing it at one time, and those who have money and those who do not have money, both new and old investors can invest in Bitcoin by following this DCA method. So I say that in this current situation, if you can continue to buy and move towards the future, then this will be the best investment for you, you can decide the period on taking your profit. Or are there other ways to make money with bitcoin as a small investor rather than just buy and hold?
The main strategy for holding Bitcoin, in my opinion, there is no other method. You should get a good and secure wallet, if you have a hardware wallet, then it is better, besides you have Electrum wallet and other unique wallets in software, through these you can hold your Bitcoin for a long time. Remember that you are holding for the long term, so you will not sell Bitcoin in the middle, your Bitcoin sale will depend on your plan and profit taking. However, if you hold Bitcoin for a period of 10 to 12 years, you can get the best benefits. Take the help of an emergency fund to sustain your Bitcoin investment, do not forget to form an emergency fund.

Self-Custody is a right. Say no to "non-custodial"

says that people should learn more about Bitcoin before they invest any money. Many of the new traders look at the profit opportunity and forget about the volatility and length of time that the asset will exist. No matter what approach you take, whether lump sum or DCA. It can only be done on a realistic basis if you invest money that you can afford to set aside for several years. There are ways to make a significant return on your investment if you are a small investor. But generally it's more about the patience. Consistency and knowledge that you have.
Well said, which is why every new investor ought to acquire basic knowledge of investing in Bitcoin, both its pros and the cons of it before deciding on an investment method because without verify the information they receive, they will keep making mistakes by applying the wrong principles which could ruin their plans, which will help them to remain responsible and disciplined kos that's how small investors can profit from their investment. Huh? What is the "basic knowledge" that you believe newbies need to learn before getting started? Do they have discretionary funds? Do they know from where they are going to buy? Do they have an ability to make reasonable choices for themselves? or you want to treat them like a 12 year old merely because they are new to bitcoin? Do you presume the bitcoin newbie to be 12 years old?

1) Self-Custody is a right. Resist being labelled as: "non-custodial" or "un-hosted." 2) ESG, KYC & AML are attack-vectors on Bitcoin to be avoided or minimized. 3) How much alt (shit)coin diversification is necessary? if you are into Bitcoin, then 0%......if you cannot control your gambling, then perhaps limit your alt(shit)coin exposure to less than 10% of your bitcoin size...Put BTC here: bc1q49wt0ddnj07wzzp6z7affw9ven7fztyhevqu9k

Which brings me back to my question Can small investors actually make good profit with bitcoin?
I think we don't have to be putting profits in the front all the time, because sometimes it makes us lose focus on the way we should invest, which is absolutely not helping us at all. Even though we often invest for profit, it's good to keep that thought aside and start your investment without having double thoughts. So a small investor can actually make good profit from Bitcoin if he or she understands that Bitcoin investment is not a get-rich-overnight thing. Because these are the things that can help you negative the market without panicking.

With what I have been able to understand about bitcoin investment, i don’t think it is possible to have the full understanding about bitcoin investment as a newbie before investing. once you start investing, then you keep learning. As a newbie what is important at first is just the basics, because as a newbie you can never get to understand everything without been into it. There are some theories that actually need practical for one to have more knowledge or understanding of what that study is about.
You are right, basic knowledge is important, that's why they shouldn't have to skip the first step before investing because skipping it is the beginning of failure. Yes, it's not possible for one to learn everything about investing in Bitcoin, because the basics can help them to start small, as they will also keep learning to protect themselves from common mistakes that most beginners do encounter, as it will help to gain better understanding on how to sustain their investment. When does a new investor know that he has acquired basic knowledge? There is no mandatory requirement of so-called basic knowledge at the beginning of investment. If someone has discretionary income, he can start at the same time and continue learning. It is not that learning will stop once he starts buying. Rather, when he starts, he will get the opportunity to learn from his real experience. He will understand how stable he is at low market prices. You have not clearly stated what topics need to be included in basic knowledge. I assume that by basic knowledge you mean learning about wallets, security, and self-custody. But even after starting these topics, one can learn. If someone is not aware of wallets, he can start from the exchange. He can start with this and does not have to wait on the pretext of so-called basic knowledge, and at the same time he gets enough time to learn. Later, when he is ready about wallets, security, and self-custody, he will transfer it to his own wallet. Because the final decision is his own custody.

I don't completely agree with your statement. Investing in Bitcoin doesn't require a lot of knowledge, but common sense, financial ability to invest, and understanding a few basic things are important. The first basic thing is not the technology of Bitcoin, but understanding your own finances. It is wrong to think that just because someone has an income, they have the ability to invest. If you start buying Bitcoin without having any idea about your cashflow, you might think of the money for essential expenses as extra money. The money left after meeting your food and family responsibilities is your discretionary income, and you need to know what to invest with it before you start investing in Bitcoin. This knowledge is also included with basic knowledge. And common sense does not just mean understanding that the price of Bitcoin can increase or decrease. Common sense means the ability to understand your own financial situation and make independent decisions about how much you should start small. For this reason, at the beginning of investing, it is important to know at least this much about Bitcoin that it is not a guaranteed-profit scheme, its price can decrease significantly in the short and medium term, and it should not be bought with such money when needed after a few days. Another basic knowledge here is what he is actually buying. Bitcoin and cryptocurrency are not the same thing. At least it is important to understand that a token does not mean that it becomes an asset like Bitcoin. I do not know if there is any specific test or way to quantify when a new investor will understand that he has basic knowledge. However, he should consider whether he has a correct idea about some of his own issues before proceeding. For example, whether the money he is buying Bitcoin with is really money beyond his necessary expenses. Whether he will be able to remain mentally calm if the price of Bitcoin falls. He should have an idea about whether the investment he is making is for the purpose of short-time trading or long-time holding. And if the holding is large, how to ensure its security is there? An investor needs to know these general things from the beginning. However, he should not waste time on knowing technological issues and delay the investment. He should start investing early and start with the above ideas. And after starting the investment, he will gain more knowledge and will be able to adjust his DCA amount according to his financial condition.

I think the questions already raised here by JJG explains it all. Off course, that one is a Bitcoin newbie doesn't mean they know nothing or have no human sense and/or reasoning, and thus, they could still reason and know how best to do what is okay and keep there investment safe provided they have the ability to make reasonable decisions. What's major is the ability to figure out there discretionary. Once this is done, then every other thing as regards starting is secondary. They could begin buying gradually while they personally discover some other things while in the market already. Trying to look at basic knowledge as a criteria to starting in a broader perspective might seem to ambiguous as many may be looking at it from the angle of learning or knowing a whole lot of things before getting started. Whereas, the concept of basic knowledge simply connotes you having been able to figure out your Discretionary and a common sense.

Do you presume the bitcoin newbie to be 12 years old? This is the summary of what is needed by newbies to get started already and I love how you made it easy for everyone to understand. So long as the answer to the questions you asked are affirmative, then a newbie is all set to get started and while at it, he will begin to see the need for other things... this is called learning on the process. It is not right to assume that newbies need all the knowledge of Bitcoin from the very beginning, that is not even possible because Bitcoin is broad and anyone waiting to understand everything before getting started may not even get started. There is really no replacement for experience and that can only be gotten when someone is already involved in doing the job already.

Do you presume the bitcoin newbie to be 12 years old? To Achalugo BTC, I would like to start by saying that in my short experience, it will take a long time for an investor to develop the knowledge needed to be responsible, patient and disciplined about investing. This is not possible without some long-term investment experience. And JayJuanGee as per your question I would say Beginners do not need much knowledge before investing. They can start small by identifying your extra money, deciding where to buy Bitcoin, and determining the amount to buy according to your ability. After meeting the necessary expenses, a common person can easily calculate whether there is real extra money. And without extra money, I do not think it would be right to invest in Bitcoin. And it certainly does not take much time to learn where to buy Bitcoin. If I speak for myself, I have known this for a few years before coming to this forum. An adult should be considered to have this ability about money management . If he doesn't have this kind of common sense, then I don't think he needs to invest in Bitcoin. Anyone who has heard the name Bitcoin and decided to invest in it must have this kind of understanding that it won't take him long to understand it or that he is not so incapable that he will be like a 12-year-old child. And if he doesn't have this kind of brain development, then he is nothing but a madman.

Or are there other ways to make money with bitcoin as a small investor rather than just buy and hold?
I guess you have already given answers to your questions. As an investor, the first thing that should even focus on isn't profits but to get discretionary income to invest. Because without discretionary income you can't be able to invest in bitcoin . It is normal to think of profits but having discretionary income to invest is much more important and patience to hold for the long term. When your oftens give thoughts to profits you mindset is gradually shifting from an investor to a trader because only traders thinks of profits all the times. Once you have your discretionary income available you should focus on accumulate and hodl then build your emergency and reserve funds to protect your investments from real life emergencies situation. Any thoughts about profits should come when you have reach over accumulation.

The truth is bitcoin is not in its 'affordable' stage for a small income investor that wants to make quick profit that's why most people go after shitty coins which i would not advice. But, if you are looking for a valuable asset my advice will be buy bitcoin with whatever amount you can spare and hold for a very long time. Just take as a life time investment that way you won't panic and rush to sell at any given pump in price.

Nothing is wrong with this because it will not take long before such investor understand how Bitcoin works and the right way to invest. My point is that getting started is not supposed to be complicated else the new investor becomes discoursged. So, they should start from any point and get better with time of doing it.

Well they are not necessarily 12 year olds but sometimes they act worse than them blinded by many emotional factors such as fear and greed. I cant generalise all investors in bitcoin to have a 12 year old like mentality but many of them make mistakes a 12 year old would make mainly because they are new and mostly because they are greedy and fearful. So them getting bitcoin’s knowledge is beneficial, it is not a matter of if they need it or not but extra knowledge before investing is always better than less knowledge as more knowledge always helps us in taking well calculated decisions. But acquiring knowledge shouldn’t stop one from starting investing, they should continuously learn while have already started investing to not lose their opportunity in buying bitcoin.

Don't think about making quick profits from Bitcoin. Although it might be possible due to market volatility, if your goal is short-term, your capital also needs to be large to make a decent profit. If your capital is small, consistently grow your investment from your small capital. It might take a long time, but after all, investing requires capital. If your capital is small, then set realistic targets.

First of all, i absolutely do not recommend that investors try to make huge profits in a short period of time from altcoins or even meme coins, especially if they don’t understand the risks involved. We have to accept the fact that Bitcoin is no longer cheap, even though the price has dropped to extreme lows, it still takes a long time to acquire 1 Bitcoin if you’re relying solely on income from a single job. Therefore, do what you can, by that i mean, focus and be consistent in accumulating Bitcoin, even in small amounts, over time, the results will surely become apparent. Don’t forget to always use discretionary funds so your investments can continue.

says that people should learn more about Bitcoin before they invest any money.
I do understand your point. A newbie doesn't needs to know everything pertaining bitcoin investment before they can start accumulating bitcoin. Once they are able to figure out there discretionary income, where they can buy bitcoin, and can be able to handle there financial decisions. Then they can start accumlating bitcoin and every other thing that they need to know, they can learn as they continue with there bitcoin investment. As of getting to know about self custody, security and how bitcoin works. All of this they can learn as they continue investing in bitcoin.

There are instances in which new investor may not even be able to differentiate discretionary income from investment funds yet they can get started with any part of their income. Nothing is wrong with this because it will not take long before such investor understand how Bitcoin works and the right way to invest. My point is that getting started is not supposed to be complicated else the new investor becomes discoursged. So, they should start from any point and get better with time of doing it.
You cannot just get started with any money on you in order to prevent you from using the money that isn't your discretionary income. Before you start your bitcoin investment the first thing is to figure out whether, you have discretionary income or not. If you don't have then you don't need to buy bitcoin if not you are only gambling because if your needs arises, you will sell those bitcoin at loss if the price is below your entry point. Discretionary income is the leftover money after taking care of your basic needs and monthly expenses which is what you should only use to invest into bitcoin overtime so that, you can increase your bitcoin portfolio with DCA and hodli overtime. Don't be in a rush to buy bitcoin with your income when you haven't figured out your discretionary income yet.
