For a new investor who has not yet started, trying to teach him when the price will turn or fall by looking at the daily chart can actually push him towards market timing instead of investing.
This is not just about new investor, but also about veterans investors. It's not a wise approach to be timing the market before making a purchase, because by doing so, you are going to miss so many buying opportunities that you would have utilize very well and add to your stash, but if you are waiting and trying to play smart before buying, your Bitcoin portfolio will not grow as fast as it should have been.

He spoke of the bull and bear season as someone that is only interested in profiting from short term gains, and it's very wrong to think that way because by waiting for the bull season to come, shows that such investor just want to sell and become a no coiner overnight, nothing more, because how is he going to explain his reasons for targeting the bull season, if it's not about selling his holdings?

Well as a newbie or beginners they also ought to know more about bull run or price dumb because I don't expect a newbie to buy at high I.e peak price as we are aware of massive dump after price had already peaked thus any newbie investor that bought at high would be absolutely disappointed if price dumped while watching your assets drop in price, infact of them might not want to hodl any longer again, meanwhile I think newbie investors should learn to buy low by basically learning through BTC/USD daily chart if there is a price reversal definitely the chart would reveal price dropping at a particular day thus enabling the newbie to start buying and accumulating of course that is my own opinion as regard buy bitcoin by small investors, more so the price of bitcoin is very volatile that singular reason calls for investors to be extraordinary careful before embarking on buying at high instead of buying at a lower price.
How can a newbie understand the chart and know that bitcoin price will dip in the next two hours. Your idea isn't what a newbie needs because they're on a long term investment goal which their primary obligation is to just continue buying bitcoin consistent and persistent with DCA using part of their discretionary regardless the price of bitcoin at that moment.

It's a norm for a newbie to buy and when the price dips, he gets emotional but that doesn't mean that he will sell because he has made a proper plan to buy and hodli for the future. It's when you didn't prepare your mindset towards a long term investment plan that you will panic and sell or you used money for your important needs that this can happen which is why you're to only invest with your discretionary income.

Waiting to buy at the dip isn't guarantee because you can keep on waiting and the price keeps pumping, you will continue to be a no coiner without any clue of the price movement of bitcoin. I see it as a waste of your precious time that you should have used to build your bitcoin stash to a certain level. Waiting isn't smartness because it's not a good move to build and grow to good bitcoin stash for the future.

Agree with those things you have said, since its good for newbies not to waste their time predicting on when those short term dips came. Because no one even if they claim as an expert can determine on when that situation will going to happen.

Charts maybe useful for those people engage in trading, but for long term investor its different since what gives them real edge is their consistency.

Normal part happening is when the newbies saw a continuous dips they might feel bothered with or or uneasy. But if the case is different and they are preparing to go long term, there's a chance that they won't get panic and sell their Bitcoins immediately.

Also more bigger risk if the use that money which supposed to use on their basic needs. That's why its good for investor to consider having or separate a discretionary funds because for sure they won't think about selling their bought stash on wrong time.

For a new investor who has not yet started, trying to teach him when the price will turn or fall by looking at the daily chart can actually push him towards market timing instead of investing.
No one knows in advance which price will be called high. The price you think is high today may have gone even higher after a few months. In such a situation, if you wait for the so-called cheap price, you can miss out on buying the entire time. Even if the price falls again, it cannot be said with certainty from the chart.
Teach strategies, not predictions; in my opinion, that is the best way to teach beginners.
The best approach for beginners is to shift their focus from daily charts to a long-term passive investment strategy, teaching them to analyze daily charts in an attempt to predict price reversals or drops will only lead them into a trap.
Misguided education leads beginners down the wrong path; as you mentioned earlier, it encourages them to engage in market timing. I am convinced that the goal of teaching beginners is not to turn them into traders within a week, but to ensure they are still holding Bitcoin four years from now.

If you are an investor and are in the savings stage, your important task is to consider how much discretionary income you have beyond your essential expenses and buy at an amount that will not affect your life even if the price falls later. Beating the market is not the main objective of an investor.
Long-term survival is the primary goal of investing in Bitcoin, so investors must be able to endure both financially and mentally. Bitcoin rewards patience, not intelligence.

Those who are looking to buy Bitcoin on dips, for them this is the ideal time to buy Bitcoin. Price of Bitcoin for past many months is under 70k and this gives us an idea that this is the bottom of dip. At the same time, its not easy to buy Bitcoin because there is so much negativity spread in the market and many newbies refrain from buying in such situations because they get confused due to news that are spread in the market. Those who know that price of Bitcoin will go up in the long run are the one who take advantage of such dips.

Dip is more like an opportunity, when the opportunity presents itself all you have to do is take the opportunity if you have a discretionary income, there are people who have been buying and investing in Bitcoin on a regular basis, they’re buying through the DCA, and it’s been more appreciated, there are individuals who keep some money aside, just specifically to buy a dip, that doesn’t mean they will be waiting for the dip before they can buy bitcoin.

There are also people who would prefer to watch and speculate about the market and dip, not until they come across a dip they will not buy bitcoin.
As far I am concerned, in the process of investing in Bitcoin, I don't see anything that can stop you from buying continuously because setting aside some portion of money specifically for the dip is definitely a very wrong move. If really you are very consistent with your DCA method I don't think you will be having problem with your accumulation, the DCA allow you to invest with rest of mind, and even at the period of dip, you will still have advantage of getting more bitcoin than someone that have aside money for it. Simply because that particular person will not concentrate on DCA method seriously because he is always after the dip and that is also a distraction.
If someone stops buying regularly and just waits to buy dips, then it can certainly be a bad strategy. But that does not mean that it is wrong to set aside money for dips. An investor's main strategy can be to continue with DCA and at the same time keep a part of his discretionary income as a reserve if he wants, this is not wrong. The important thing is that he does not stop his regular accumulation while building a reserve. When you keep a small part of your discretionary income for future market opportunities in addition to buying regularly, it does not turn your plan into trading. Rather, if you have a reserve in addition to buying regularly, then you can take advantage of dips. An investor's main plan is to buy regularly and take advantage of dips is only part of the plan.

it is not bad to buy the dip provided there is available cash for it while still using DCA as the main strategy. The only thing that is wrong with buying the dip strategy, is idea of waiting for a dip to occur before buying. There is no one that can predict or tell when a dip will occur. The best way is for an investor to continue accumulating bitcoin using DCA strategy while keeping some percentage of there discretionary income for buying the dip if it eventually occurs. The most important thing here is being consistent and at the same time setting aside some percentage of discretionary funds for buying the dip.

Yeah that action for always waiting for more dip is actually one of the main reason on why they missed the real one.

Market does not always match the price we expect to come, that's why waiting for more deeper price to come would eventually lead them to lost lots of opportunity to buy more Bitcoins. That's the reason its better to stay consistent then build their Bitcoin portfolio regarding on what price shows in the market and whatever noise comes.

Buying at dips should be optional for investor, then don't use this as their whole method to use. In this situation we can see the importance of reserve funds, since they can eventually continue to accumulate either market pump or dumps. But when the time dip came they can use that kind of funds in this situation.

Most safest approach to do here is to remain steady with their accumulate if they are for long term, then make as second priority doing those opportunistic buys when dip comes.

The current time is like a test, those who are not real investors at this time will sell their investments at this time, even though they are at a loss, they will sell their holdings at this stage, because they are now afraid, they do not believe in the future possibilities of Bitcoin, which is why they will sell their holdings in fear due to the current market situation.
However, those who are real investors at this time, can definitely use the present time to buy more Bitcoin, because they have that faith in Bitcoin, and they are always positive for the future despite the instability, and this gives them confidence to maintain their holdings for a longer period.
So do not see the present time as a panic, but rather as an opportunity to buy more, and try to use the present time to buy more, the more you can buy now at this low price, the greater your success will be in the future.

“Am I buying according to my plan or because I think that this is the lowest price?”. “And what will happen if the price drops more after I buy?”
These are the questions you should ask yourself before going ahead to buy a dip

A person decision to buy dip should come from him having a solid plan, available cash and ability to keep accumulating over time. Even though in my opinion, I think folks should focus on building a very solid position so that when the opportunity presents itself later on; they can easily lump sum with extra cash if they have, but that shouldn’t disrupt their regular buying plan or negative impact on their financial situation

For you to make the decision of investing in Bitcoin, be it buying the dip or DCA, you should have it in mind that you will be holding for long, you can’t buy the dip now and expect the price to move upward immediately, it is not working like that because the market is volatile. You can buy now and the price might dip more, you have no choice that to be patient which is the key factor in Bitvoinninvestment.

If you have other plans to make quick profit, then consider taking risk through crypto trading with high leverage, but if you want safety if your investment, buy Bitcoin. You will not have any problem and you will make your profit with time, but if you are eager to make quick profit, then trading is your answer and it is very risky.

This is where many traders in disguise to be an investor are still getting it all wrong because they always want to get it so fast. Ignoring the fact that nothing good comes so easy, you get to pay the supreme price in achieving what you want, and again success doesn't come on a platter of gold, certain bridge must be crossed before reaching our dream point. However, I'm not disputing the fact that trading may likely pay off no doubt, but it chances of survival is very slim that I can barely advice any one in venturing in it. As a matter of fact, long term investment plan is just the basics reality as long as Bitcoin investment is concerned. Their is certainly no two ways about it and that's the common reality we must understand as Bitcoin enthusiast.

I have been thinking lately about how investing in bitcoin is actually a great idea but also it can be really hard to make profit off bitcoin if you're a small Investor
Imagine this:
If bitcoin is at $64k and me as a small investor bought with $1k, for me to make 100% profit bitcoin will have to hit $128k, that is still feasible
But if I'm hoping to make a 200% profit on my investment bitcoin price will have to get to $256k, how achievable is that ? And if it's achievable how long is it going to take

Which brings me back to my question
Can small investors actually make good profit with bitcoin?

Or are there other ways to make money with bitcoin as a small investor rather than just buy and hold?

Many of us here are expecting way beyond $256K prices in the near future.

Personally I think we might be around 1 million by the end of 2028.

It sounds strange but Bitcoin has shown time and time again that no matter how popular it is, how adopted or how much fomo or fud there is going around, that Bitcoin has incredible volatility. Especially on the up-side.

I would not bet against Bitcoin, even if it seems ludicris.

Do you mean that the numbers of people here expecting Bitcoin to be $256k in the near future would be 1 million or that Billion would be around 1 million in the near future? Yes Bitcoin has the potential of reaching $256k from 2028 to 2030 but it could take it longer to get to 1 million dollar. As for a small investing making good profits, it's not very hard it just requires consistency in accumulation, Bitcoin's potential is more than we can inmagine, signing the clarity act in the near future is enough to influence a better figure than $256k.

You make it sound as if trading gives quick profit which isn't true and that can mislead newbies reading this thread to believe that it's possible for them to make quick money from trading when it's the opposite. Trading is gambling and does not guarantee quick profit instead, quick losses are guaranteed in trading.

A brand new investor should only focus on bitcoin accumulation using DCA method to enable you buy every week consistently in order for you to build your bitcoin stash overtime with your discretionary income. You don't need to wait for the dip or use buying the dip method because it will slow your bitcoin accumulation pace and also make you miss a lot of opportunities in the market that you should have used to grow and build your bitcoin stash.

Waiting is a waste of time and not a good accumulation strategy because you don't even know if the dip will come or not. What if the dip didn't come, you will keep on waiting which shows sign of unseriousness. A lot of people waiting for the dip do regret it because they will be stagnant while an investor using DCA is growing slow and steady. It's funny to be patiently waiting for the dip to come.

I believe small investors can still make meaningful profits from bitcoin, but also their expectations need to be realistic. Because bitcoin is not longer in it early days when people could invest a few hundred dollars and become millionaires overnight. Today steady accumulation and patience are far more important than chasing huge returns in a short time.

I know some people who started with a very small amount and felt discouraged because the gains seemed insignificant. Instead of giving up or jumping into risky coins, they  continued buying small amounts whenever they could. Overtime their holdings grew and they realized that consistency mattered more than trying to time every market move. Also buying and holding is not the only way to earn bitcoin. Because some people participate in signature campaigns, freelance for bitcoin, accept it as payment or contribute to the bitcoin community in other ways.

So as a small investor, increasing the amount of that bitcoin you own can be just as valuable as waiting for the price to appreciate and In the end I think the size of your investment does not matters than your strategy. A disciplined investor with a long term plan often do better than someone who invests a large amount but constantly buys and sells based on emotions

I agree with you. And We should never make a choice between Bitcoin investing and trading like gambling. .There is no rule that if someone buys Bitcoin seeing a dip today, the price will go up next week or next month. Today's dip may be the beginning of a bigger dip tomorrow. That is why a long-term investor's plan should be to invest regularly. Where he will not be prepared to worry about BTC going in his preferred direction very quickly for the investment to be successful. . If someone wants to accumulate Bitcoin, then it is more important to know the status of his own income, expenses, discretionary funds and backup funds first. Whether he does weekly DCA, occasional lump sum or keeps some funds for dips, the main thing is that his buying plan should be such that it does not change according to the short-term price of BTC. Even so, he should not have to make decisions according to the price. However, I personally do not think that patience guarantees profit. . Bitcoin can be a good investment thesis as it gives good profits in the long run. But anyone who wants to trade can do it with their own money, but it should not be presented as an alternative to Bitcoin investment in such a way that if you invest slowly, it will give profits in the long run and if you spend money quickly, you will start expecting money overnight. Many times, fast money investing causes fast losses.

I think what the user meant was that Bitcoin might be around $1 million by the end of 2028, which is about 2 years and few months from now. It's hard for me to picture that because $256K sounds more closer and possible, but again, there are certain factors that are going to determine how soon or how far we are from this 'future' that we talk about.

An Investor,  choosing to buy $1K worth of Bitcoin at a certain price only once, is definitely going to make a profit, but not compared to someone who accumulated something more for a longer period. There are factors that contributes to the amount of profits an investor ends up with.... Which accumulation strategy and duration of investment, are the two major ones.

I like this statement of accepting the risks before buying Bitcoin. The only thing some beginners or newbies tends to understand is, to be successful in bitcoin investment journey it has to do with more consistency rather than looking for perfect price entry. Alots of folks today have spent much of their time waiting for the perfect time, they ended up having nothing while the smartest one's have been accumulating bitcoin and holding it quietly over a period of time. Patience should be the most key. Also one should know when and how to make decisions, especially when theres market increases, that excitement has made alots of folks into buying and selling due to the market drops. It's better to have a specific plan by sticking to it in orders yield a an effective result, than running to every market movement. In facts, maintaining your steady plan makes you ahead of those folks chasing the bitcoin price movement.
That’s what most beginners failed to understand; they have the believe that their time to invest in bitcoin will come because they have that idea and believe that an opportunity will come for them to invest which means they are waiting for the price to dip, meanwhile the opportunity might come to them at the wrong time when they might not have access to buying at that moment, that smartness of waiting for opportunity is another waste of opportunity because the market cannot be predicted and opportunity is here now to invest.

As a beginner, instead of waiting for an opportunity is not the right thing to do, the best thing is to act fast by investing with the little amount you want because this is also an opportunity to invest.

You have been registered on the forum since January 2017 @gabbie2010, and you still have not come to realize that it is better for newbies to buy bitcoin at any price, and maybe to buy for 4-10 years or longer without any assessment of BTC price because first a newbie is not going to have any clue whether the bitcoin price is going to go up, down or sideways, and so the ONLY way to prepare for UP is to actually buy some bitcoin.  Waiting is not a good strategy.

When you got into bitcoin in 2017, did you wait?  If you waited, you got fucked by waiting... but and so maybe you did not learn any lessons from your beginning?  You have been in bitcoin for 9.5 years, and you haven't figured out that it is better to ongoingly accumulate bitcoin, especially for newbies.  I did a quick glance at your posting history, and you don't seem to have had been too involved in shitcoins or trading, so what went wrong?  Why don't you recognize the value of ongoing bitcoin accumulation?

For example  if you had focused on accumulating $100 per week in the past 9.5 years since your forum registration, you would have had invested $500k in to bitcoin  but you would have nearly 5.5 BTC, which surely would be a great place to be.  You think that you need better accumulation than that by fucking around trying to time the bitcoin market?  It is almost impossible for anyone to time the bitcoin market whether they are newbies or not.... and at least the longer time bitcoiners can figure out if they need to change their bitcoin accumulation strategy (and intensity) based on how many BTC that they had already accumulated. Yet, newbies, by definition, have no bitcoin or very little bitcoin, so they should stay focused on accumulating, rather than fucking around waiting for dips that might not end up happening.

Always looking at Bitcoin price or always waiting for the dip can't give such obvious but now appears to miraculous opportunity. 2017 is already getting to ten years and inputting $100 weekly is not a joke (the power of DCA), buying not minding the market price. This still proves the indefatigable stable stand of long-term Bitcoin investment. What are you waiting for when you have the resources to invest? For Bitcoin price to drop? Does it mean you are not ready to invest? Waiting can make a newbie to continue to be a newbie. The strategy of waiting as reviewed here has got many (for sure majority) fucked up and this leaves the strategy of waiting basically unproductive, so why waiting?

Are you contradicting your own comment? Because one moment you are saying to invest long term and the next moment you are saying to trade crypto or to trade. Trading is never a way to make quick profits. A person who considers trading as a way to make quick profits is definitely involved in gambling. We can call trading a type of gambling. Trading is never good and the chances of a person losing money from trading are very high and in this thread we are discussing long term investment so don't mislead anyone or make anyone greedy by saying trading or trading is a way to make quick profits.

Many new people may be interested in trading by being greedy after reading your comment and may face losses. Especially in this thread it is always good to talk about long term investment because many new people use this thread to learn about long term.
