Did you really believe that Spain could win Argentina?

I did not initially believe that Spain can expressly beat Argentina the way they did. I thought it was going to be a near 50-50 game and perhaps in favour of Argentina in the first 90 minutes but the game was completely different. Spain played like they have been waiting for that moment to teach Argentina how to play the game. Winning by only 1 goal does not even depict the quality of football that Spain brought to New jersey. Only few will think that Spain would start a chance against Argentina. The end result is the product of hard work, Spain took the trophy while Messi cried.

Well, maybe not directly related but if Messi cried, what then is Ronaldo supposed to do? This are the two renowned world football celebrities who fans are always comparing to each to know who is better, who has acquired/earned more trophies and who has earned less, and I believe that all through the career of this two star players, they were always silently competing with each other.

Now, Messi already has a world Cup to his name while Ronaldo doesn't, and both of this two likely won't be playing in the next world Cup in 2030, who do you think should cry more?

And speaking of Spain and Argentina, many may not have believed that Spain will beat Argentina but I know one person who did believe this, he was even the one telling me to bet on Spain, that spain will beat Argentina but I refused to listen to him because I was not very sure, turned out he was right, unfortunately, he's not on this forum.

Spain don’t only win Argentina but they dominated them, and throughout the first half Argentina never had a single shot on target and they have only about 34% of ball possession which really baffles me considering the level of experience and players in the Argentina squad including Lionel Messi. I was only surprised as to the manner Argentina turned up in the game, they were heavily criticized and their players went fighting at the end of the game against the Spanish side.

Many people predicted that Spain would win the final and when I checked the odds to place a bet I saw that Spain was being given very low odds which meant that Spain was being heavily backed and everyone in the research thought Spain was more likely to win the match. Spain played brilliantly in every match and they won every match without conceding any goal. However, they conceded one goal against Belgium. Spain's players as well as their goalkeeper were very clever and could handle any challenge they could get. However, Argentina could not mount any attack against Spain in the final match. Spain controlled the ball throughout the match. The game was definitely fair and Spain won the final based on their performance.

Anything is possible in football. It's not a matter of what I believe in or not beside both teams have great players and performed well in the World Cup. It's not as if Argentina was facing one of the country's teams which did not qualify for the World Cup or left at the first stage. The the only disappointment I had in that game was how it ended without Argentina Macoupin any goal attempts.

Let us keep the fighting part aside, it was the sadness that comes with losing that was tempered with that lead to that fight. Spain was the team that I knew will win the game and I knew that they’re not going to find that win very easy that day. What also baffles me was the possession and dominance of the Spain team against the Argentina team throughout the 120 minutes they played.

My assumptions was that both teams will have a more intense  share of the game but in the end, Spain should come out victorious. Spain came out victorious from the first half of the game after dominating everything, and that still continues in the second half of the game. Argentina was a disgrace to many of their supporters and fans, they were totally outplayed and still lost the game Ito them.

I don't like the idea when I see people adding sentiments to football. So many fans of Messi were thinking that Argentina is joking to beat Spain doing the final but the tactics they saw on the pitch was a big surprise to many fans of Messi.

Some were able to bet on the match that Messi is going to score but it wasn't possible at all and I believed Spain must have understood Messi playing tactical skill on the field were known and was obstructed lowering his chances of scoring. Messi tried all he could to make sure him and his team score but it was very difficult for him. The match was tough although Messi lose to Spain big time.

Why did you think that if France would have played with Argentina they would have lost against Argentina? Because clearly nothing Argentina played in the finals and it was really a surprising thing to many people, that how would they defeat England with a come back and then could not perform against Spain in the finals. I'm sure France would have delt with them mercilessly because they were just defending the entire 90 minute and I'm sure Spain would not have been able to play England the way they played Argentina.

If Argentina had met any other team that was not Spain in the finals, I think Argentina would have won because Messi would have been able to perform his magic. What happened in this final was that this Spain team did not allow Argentina to have the ball hence they were chasing the Spain team all throughout the game and that is why Argentina was unable to have any shot on target until the extra time.

The reason why Argentina won England in the semi finals was because England started defending instead of attacking and also the reason why Spain won France is the same reason why Spain won Argentina. If France had won Spain I do not think they would have been able to defeat Argentina because already Argentina had defeated them in the last world cup to win the competition hence they might have fear to attack Argentina and decide to defend. Football won on the 19th and that is why Spain won, Messi has finally passed down the legacy to Lamine Yamal and we are in a new era of football.

That was what we were all thinking, but dip down, I know that many of us do not want Messi to win, because Ronaldo is no longer in the picture, and if Messi does not win, there will be less comparison between them, and since Spain won, no one is talking about yamal, and because the boy has a great talent, that is what is making everything reduce because the way they were shading Ronaldo, I was not really happy, and all I wanted was Ronaldo to win the world cup and also Messi was unable to win this time, they begin another talk regarding Messi's previous victory.

I wanted Argentina to lose, not because I am a Ronaldo fan but because I do not like cheats. In all their games, Argentina had the favor of the referees which made it extremely difficult for opponents to get a win against them. Now, does this World Cup settle the Ronaldo - Messi debate? I think not.

This sports also gives uncertain results so you can't expect that all the time a certain team will always lead the game. Of course, there will be favorites but it doesn't mean, they will always get the goal at the end of the game. Most goals are unexpected. So yeah, everything is possible in this sports and underdog can always emerge as winners.

Indeed, most viewers were on the suspicion that they were helping Messi somehow to win the trophy. They had been too successful in defeating England and Egypt to the extent that it had produced overconfidence amongst fans. As a matter of fact, Spain was much better in the final, demonstrated with an impeccable control of the game. This was a great show that led to a colossal loss to the favorite team by its opponent who seemed unbeatable.

This is something unbelievable that when you so much have believe on something or even so much trust a particular Team win they often failed people. Realistically I didn't even believe that Spain could win Argentina 1-0 where even most of my friends where fans of Argentina including me because I have that trust on Argentina.
To my latest surprise, Spain took over by 1 and that is what its ended with.

Initially Spain scored 3 goals, but due to FIFA's politics 2 of the goals were cancelled, while hoping Argentina could win, since it is obviously Messi's last World Cup. But due to how good the Spain players was during that final match, Argentina never got a single opportunity to shot a single shot on target, and Spain won after dominating the game from start to finish. And secondly, Argentina didn't play anything during that game, because I expected so much from Messi, but I doubt if he did actually touch the football for good 10 times all through the game.

Argentina path to finals was very easy.. So when they met a tough opponent they couldn't do anything..Most of the goal that Argentina scored was as a result of how less threatening their opponents was.. Without Messi Argentina is absolutely know this, they too they know it that why they respect Messi so well.. The rest of the Argentinian are so rough, that's the reason for the red card that they received...Right from Spain performance in the group stage, it was so obvious that they will really go far.. Imagine, in the whole match played by Spain Unai Simon conceded only 1 goal.. He did what no other GK was even able to achieve..
