Asking politicians to fight corruption is like asking mosquitoes to cure malaria.

There is no magical "baptism into corruption" when they take office. It's just their business model. They spend millions buying votes, lobbying, and making deals to get the job, so obviously, they are going to treat the public treasury as their personal ROI once they finally get the keys to the vault.

This is why I never see any politician as one who is not corrupt cause you can't ask them to fight the same system thar  made them who they are that's just like fighting themselves cause they are all corrupt and without corruption they will have no reason to be lobbying themselves in to the seat cause they know the profit they will make if they buy votes to get into power. Those in power decides what they do and how they spend money, it is no longer new but if we can stand to hold them accountable then we need to deal with that before they are elected.

Trust politicians at your own risk, politicking demands them to convince citizens by campaigning and sometimes decieving people to get their vote, African politicians go to the extent of bribing to get vote do they can't be trusted. However some advanced countries have come up with trust worthy agencies that track and handle corrupt politicians, over there accountability is very important to citizens but in some African countries it's tough to demand accountability cause over the years they've succeeded in supressing citizens and agencies including the law that should hold them accountable with power.

This issue of corruption is a very serious challenge that requires serious attention even as it cannot be solved by the leaders we have today.
The leaders of today never have the interest of citizens at heart that is why know matter how long we cry for help they don't even think of finding solution to the problem affecting all today.
The way this said leaders buy and find all necessary way of entering into offices one may think they have any good plans for citizens without knowing that is never part of there plans at all, Instead stealing all is what they only know how to do and will never think of changing until jungle justice is shown to them.

In every nations this set of people is certainly there, many people work for years and gather experience, become exposed to politics and leadership, admire positions and opportunities to rule, if finally by virtue of elections you're vote into an office they assume a legal rights to steal and loot public funds,
They same person who was once working with all Obedience to serve their boss, will in a long run forget the past and pursuits selfish interest, I don't know if leadership automatically baptize one into corruption in some Africa nations and other part of the world using lobby as an approach to stealing public funds. But can nation like Nigeria that is so much with corruption fought corruption? Since the supposed leaders who was supposed to fight corruption are involved?

Everyone are not the same, so far we have corrupt leaders, there are also those who are very good when it comes to leadership and the way they manage or handle public fund. There are people who value value their own reputation than amassing which wealth that is meant for public. Many countries economy are suffering today because of the activities of those at the helm of affairs, they are amassing wealth to the detriment of the people they are ruling, and their is another thing that amazes me, in the right sense, people whom we feel they are educated, and have gathered wealth of experience should have been the ones to do things well, but to my greatest surprise the people we thought they are educated are the ones leading people astray and doing things wrong.

I agree that corruption requires serious attention, but I don't think the solution is to conclude that every leader is incapable of change. The bigger issue is weak institutions and a system that often allows public officials to act without meaningful consequences. Even good leaders can struggle in such an environment.

Education and experience don't automatically make someone a good leader. In fact, corruption is often more dangerous when it involves educated and experienced people because they may understand the system well enough to exploit its weaknesses. That's why you shouldn't judge leadership only by qualifications or experience.

......
Corruption is part of every system in all countries, and we are facing different kinds of situations in every country. If leader is uneducated, he will use the power for his benefits and poor people will not get their freedom and their rights. Many examples are available in my country because we have seen corrupt leaders who have zero education. He did nothing for the area, and reference system is common in every country, and they want strong reference to give job to the person if you are eligible to get a job, your seat will be given to the person who is not eligible for that. Most of the government employees want to get money for doing work, but they have salary. They are not happy with their salary, and they gave money when they were appointed, and now they want to get their money back, and middle class people will pay them.

They say, "everyone has a price." What is yours? Imagine you are working for $150 to $300 per month, but you can make $3k per day by doing some things. Would you do it? Even if you are financially strong, you still have a price, and if you think money is everything, then you can easily be bought by someone who has a lot of money.

That's how people in strong positions sold themselves, or the whole system is rigged in a way that an honest person can't work properly. For example, I used to work in a local government department, where I learned a lot of things, and one of them is that the definition of corruption is different there. We think they take money when they are not supposed to, which is true, but to them, this is their right, because that department is doing 8 different kinds of things, their salary is too low to pull all those things, and their superiors demand monthly money from them.

So if the whole system is rigged, how can some honest person with a weak financial background fulfill all those needs without being frustrated? So after doing all those jobs for money that is 8 times less, you will be broken from inside and will be forced to take a bribe when someone offers it. You don't take a bribe by yourself at first, someone always offers it to you. That's what I have seen. Don't judge me, I never worked at such a position haha.

What challenges do you think we have today that the current leaders can't solve? That we don't want to accept it or it's difficult to accept. Corruption is not about leadership, it lives among us and we need to do it together. You can't eradicate corruption if you don't give all place the same treatment, in fact make it a law that if a person is found guilty, pass the law and interpret it to everyone, you will see the effect if the side of the law is doesn't blindfold with nepotism and favoritism.

Let's use Nigeria as an example, there is Economic and financial crime commission, they are special arm of the government to combat corruption, anything that has to do with money laundering, public embezzlement, internet fraud, public mismanagement and so on but guess who this does not touch, the politicians and when they do, they go after political parties that are threats to the government election, mostly the rivals. You know what people do during election, they decamp from one political party to another so they can have immunity against arrest and efcc accountability.

How will they find solutions to problems they are causing themselves? You can't expect a corrupt leader to solve problems related to corruption, that doesn't make any sense. The only way a country can have a corruption-free government is if the people stand against the government for their rights, and don't take their steps back no matter what. Bringing changes in a regime cannot be possible only by a few people raising their voices, because those few people can easily be abducted and punished for standing against the injustice, and those in power can easily do that.

However, if people come out of their homes in large numbers, and demand resignations and fair elections and everything, then they may stand a chance. We have seen people successfully doing this in several countries where they have changed the government by protesting against the injustice. It's all about courage and will power, if all people have these things, changes and revolutions can be brought, and a country's corrupt government can be changed into a better one.

Do you think this situation is unique to Nigeria? It's a scourge of many countries today. Just look at America, where the president brazenly engages in undercover trading. How did he rise to power? With the help of corrupt cronies. They elevated him to the highest office. So Trump is committing outrageous acts in full view of the entire world.

How can this situation be corrected? I believe we need to make an example of the world so that no one is willing to engage in such things. Before doing so, they should think twice about the consequences.

The problem is universal, just in 3rd world countries and other underdeveloped countries the politicians steal more easily because those who voted for them are not very educated usually.

People are not deceived, they know what they're doing, they value petty gifts at the expense of 4 to 8 years of hardship. Politicians still use people as thugs, stakeholders and even agents. These people promote the bad candidate despite knowing they're bad all because of the lobbying or promise for contracts when the candidate ascends the seat. it's the people that shows the highest form of dishonesty to put the politicians there, so those who put him/her there would always reap what they sow.

These are mere formalities. even in advanced countries, corrupt politicians emerge as leaders. The only difference is that they are powerful enough to cover their tracks well, including influencing the screening process to prompt those agencies to ignore obvious red flags in records and not use it as basis for judgement. We can use the Epstein files as a basic example to know how many corrupt leaders who should be in prison are currently serving as Presidents and prime ministers. Judiciary is compromised, you just need power and influence, the trustworthiness in those agencies would be defeated, they would even act as tools to limit the influence of adversaries.
