In every nations this set of people is certainly there, many people work for years and gather experience, become exposed to politics and leadership, admire positions and opportunities to rule, if finally by virtue of elections you're vote into an office they assume a legal rights to steal and loot public funds,
They same person who was once working with all Obedience to serve their boss, will in a long run forget the past and pursuits selfish interest, I don't know if leadership automatically baptize one into corruption in some Africa nations and other part of the world using lobby as an approach to stealing public funds. But can nation like Nigeria that is so much with corruption fought corruption? Since the supposed leaders who was supposed to fight corruption are involved?

There is a big differences between a habit that someone learn and a character that someone have within me, no one is saint, but people are just looking for a great and big opportunity to display that. Forget about Nigeria or African countries, other countries also faces the challenges, problems and difficulties that the Nigerians are facing. Corruption is in everywhere. Being an employee is different from being a leader. When some people are into politics and they become a politician, and most especially a leader, they feel superior. They usually develop that habit of ignoring, and looking down on the poor. I knew that Nigerians are suffering from insecurity, but It quite unfortunate and unfair that the leaders are not directly paying attention to the cries of the citizens.

If you think your own country is in bad condition because of these people, rest assured that others are no different. All politicians make grand promises until they're elected, but once they've secured that seat, they do things that will enrich themselves and their inner circles. Most of the time, the people don't matter to any of them. It's not just in Africa, many countries governed in the name of democracy face similar problems. When the law isn't strong enough or when those who enforce it aren't fair enough, these kinds of problems arise. Maybe corruption is worse in your country, but that doesn't change the fact that it exists elsewhere as well.
I wish there were a solution to this, but it doesn't seem like there is. Wherever there are people, these things happen.

Electing out bad government is the only way out from corruption but Nigeria case is different because elections are been rigged which makes the voice of the people silent and their votes useless. The judiciary that's the hope of the common man has been a weapon that is used to fight these common citizens that their interest should be protected. The whole system is corrupt in Nigeria and that's why nothing is working to comb corruption.

Corruption will never end and there is no way we can fight against it in a country like that you mentioned because every leader is corruption, the INEC is also a corrupt organisation that is why even if the citizens vote it will always be seen as a waste of energy, how many time will the citizens want to fight against the bad government and they succeed? We have seen that happening in many countries and they succeed but in Nigeria it looks like the government has power over everything and when they say anything, that is what will happen and no one can go against it.

Corruption is the operating system. You do not kneel before anybody to come in here. You get a machine mid-cycle, from your grandfather's grandfather. Once standing inside, there is no choice but to pull one of the levers. Not specifically an African thing, though, by any means. Structural mechanics is the same everywhere. The distinction lies in the fact that the extraction is apparent and that there is a legal framework in place to camouflage it as respectable.

In a post-colonial economy, what is a political office? If the wealth is in a single tap and the state is the owner of the tap, those who have office have the handle. Leadership, in that arrangement, is a footnote to plumbing. All the incentives are heading in the same direction, and people are reading the signs correctly. Public office turned out to be the most lucrative career to obtain and of course, it became full. A flaw is simply a feature that awaits someone with less to lose than you to show them. So far, nobody with less to lose has the handle.

I don't think that Leadership automatically lobby people into been corrupt, corruption as it may is a person product of how one takes himself and the values that one holds in high esteem. There are people who will never be corrupt even if they find themselves into public office and entrusted with public funds. Just know that anyone who is corrupt and steals public funds when he gets to a public office has been corrupt since and was only looking at working his way to the top so that he can be given the chance to lead, which will be a license to steal money ment for the public development.

This is the reason why, electorates should be vigilant and give attention to the character of people that they vote into power. Because corruption is one of the biggest problems that humans has been face with. Corruption is the reason why most countries are sitting the way that they are because, someone has taken the money that was supposed to be used in fixing Roads, Hospital, Building of schools etc into their private wallet for use to enrich themselves.

It doesn't automatically assume into corruption. But that position also creates corrupt people when they see that they can take advantage of their position.

That becomes a tradition that's hard to stop and being passed on to the next generation. While there are people who can become leaders and can't be corrupted.

When they start to see how bad the system is and they can take advantage of it, that's when the tempt comes in to their good doings and principles.

Wise voting is effective where there is law and order. In a country where power is hijacked the citizens only ends up with leaders who the electoral system imposes on them by virtue of the office the occupy and the benefit the stand to gain. Politicians can be very desperate and can go any length to get into power and when most of them do they become toxic and fail to keep to all their promises made during their campaign and talk shows. History and background might have an impact on one's ability but overall people are subject to change when the taste power.

In a more non-sentimental approach, I really do not see lobbying funds as bad for the economy when leaders are doing what must be done. Every country has corrupt leaders, but the difference is that some of these leaders are selfish to the point that the interest of the citizens is secondary to their personal interest and that is where the problem is.

In most developed countries, you would see that the government play a major role to improve the standard of living in the country with the provision of good roads, water supply, electricity, proper disposal system and other social amenities to make living easier for their citizens and this is done despite the lobbying of funds involved. But in a country like Nigeria where the leaders do nothing to improve the living standards but loot money for personal interest, it would be difficult to have a leader that could act differently, it's more like a poison that spreads within the government.

No word will justify what the government has done wrong. I dont care if they give some back to the country because they are not meant to take what belongs to the country in the first place. Government representatives are paid handsomely, with massive bonuses and free money coming from different areas. The money meant for the people should be given to the people to improve the standard of living that they themselves will also benefit from. Quality network of roads, steady electricity, and most importantly, security.

There is no nation on the earth without a dent of corruption. Even in developed countries there are corrupt leaders. The difference between them and the referenced group in the OP is that in one, it is met with a harsh punishment while in the other (the referenced group), it is dealt with kids gloves, the corrupt leaders are celebrated, and those voices against corruption are silenced through the abuse of state power.
How do you fight corruption in the referenced group, one of the ways is through national reorientation first. Then the people can see clearly to vote out the corrupt and vote in the just who would start and enforce and anti-corruption campaign throughout the nation.

I can’t really tell if my country can fight against corruption, because those in higher positions are benefiting from the so called corruption. If you’re expecting the leaders who are corrupt already to fight corruption it’s just like expecting the unimaginable that may never come to pass.Ever since I was born and now I’m grown I have never seen a leader that’s not corrupt in my country, though they exist but they are few in the state level ,we’re hoping for a leader that’s going to carry the citizens alongside. There’s nothing like free and fair elections, the trustworthy ones that merited the position of a leader are thrown under the bus and those controversial ones take over through bribery and other illegal means.

When you really want to know the stuff that someone is made of, put him or her in a position of leadership, and probably become in charge of finances. I feel this is a global issue, and is the reason why most countries economy are shaking.
Am so surprised to see some of these leaders being so corrupt with money, financial some of them are already made or gained financial freedom, but yet when they attain the position of leadership, they behave as if they are beginning to see money. This scenario is even thesame even in the local politics, and is only when rigid constitution is made , and is being put into effect or action that such misconduct can be corrected.

One of the biggest problems in democracies is that the slimy and seedy side of humanity are always trying to circumvent laws that are usually not bulletproof. There are few laws that are perfect or cannot be argued in manipulative ways to misrepresent their original intention. The phrase "lobbying" would have originally had a more simplistic and basic meaning, where expert representatives in certain areas try to shape policy for the public good, however it has been hijacked at an industrial scale not to improve things but most often to fill the pockets of the super rich even more. The phrase is now synonymous with legalized corruption, where government officials and employees can be bought off in various ways to change laws solely for the benefit of narrow corporate interests usually driven by profit only.

Most of the politicians are the typical politicians that gives promises during campaign days and then when elected, they're changing their coarse and far from what they have campaigned for. But, there are the few who are sticking to their promises and are real politicians who are needed by the people, and are for the people. If they have a bad history and background, ignore them already while people change but in the part of public service, it's a different matter especially when they get access to public funds.
The bad thing is that they are the people who have power and strong connections. So they gave no chance to the one who are eligible and honest with the system. But they through their power or money removed them or suppress them. Oftenly give threat not only to them but also their family, that's why at the leadership level only we have seen few groups, so unfortunately people have no choice. Corruption is works as termite for the system. It is not wrong to say that elite class think it as their right. There is no law is present who can accountable them. The cycles is going on, major part of the public funds are using for their interest.

Asking politicians to fight corruption is like asking mosquitoes to cure malaria.

There is no magical "baptism into corruption" when they take office. It's just their business model. They spend millions buying votes, lobbying, and making deals to get the job, so obviously, they are going to treat the public treasury as their personal ROI once they finally get the keys to the vault.

In every nations this set of people is certainly there, many people work for years and gather experience, become exposed to politics and leadership, admire positions and opportunities to rule, if finally by virtue of elections you're vote into an office they assume a legal rights to steal and loot public funds.
Greed, like e no really pass greed. All of the politicians we have, alot of them just get massive greed and if you look truly most of them have been there for a long time and nothing else over than packing money and storing it under ground even untill the money spoil, like I said nothing but just greed from all of them.
Election is our only survivors but then even the election system is being manipulated, see the last last election result na, but nevertheless election is the only true legal solution we have.

Corruption didn't start in Nigeria or in Africa. Andi think African leaders are learning if compared to leaders of other countries.

The difference is that African leader make it very obvious and still get away with their crime. Why? Because the people who are supposed to be in power to fight back have been paid off to keep silent.

Corruption won't end anytime soon. When one ends another one continues. It's a cycle of selfish leaders who only think about what they have to gain when they are into power. There's no word of affirmation after they get the positions they cheated their way up to that they will deliver and be different.

It cannot be said that a person becomes corrupt as soon as he comes to power, this happens in most cases. Particularly this situation is seen in most third world countries where his appearance also starts changing as soon as he gets power. There are some people who live very ordinary lives, but when they sit in the power, it seems they have forgotten what state they were in before. Especially in countries where corruption has covered with the blackness, power is everything.

In order to overcome such a situation, the trend of politics must be changed. In cases where politics is able to change everything in a country, it must be removed from considering this politics as a source of power or money. Every individual must be held accountable. When the government party or the political party in power is held accountable for its actions, the level of corruption will decrease and at the same time the culture of misuse of power will also decrease.

This is why I never see any politician as one who is not corrupt cause you can't ask them to fight the same system thar  made them who they are that's just like fighting themselves cause they are all corrupt and without corruption they will have no reason to be lobbying themselves in to the seat cause they know the profit they will make if they buy votes to get into power. Those in power decides what they do and how they spend money, it is no longer new but if we can stand to hold them accountable then we need to deal with that before they are elected.

When a country's mechanism comes into play, lobbying is based on the money mechanism from the start, that's where corruption will occur, likewise with politicians who are elected as leaders starting with the election of money, once they have office corruption has become flesh and blood. for them.

It is difficult for a country to eradicate corruption when those in charge of the law are actually involved in corruption, unless: all officials and workers are replaced with those who obey the law, but this is difficult to do.

We can see that in almost all countries officials are involved in corruption, China, Iran and Vietnam have the death penalty for corruptors, but there are also those who commit corruption, especially Nigeria which does not have strict laws for corruptors with the death penalty.
