There is no profitability in gambling, this is a fallacy that gamblers often have and it is how casinos keep people addicted because they keep getting hope that they will be rich after sometimes winning. Short streaks of profitability do not make up for your long term losses, you have lost much more money than you have gained now.

What are people saying that they were profitable in the last World Cup because people around me complained so much about losses and this World Cup came with a lot of shocks and surprises as even countries were losing to smaller countries and the World Cup bets seemed almost very difficult because of the twisted results it came with.

Basically what you are saying is that betting on defending champions would always be profitable. Your explanation is that they would be desperate to win the competition again. Let me take a sample of the five major leagues in Europe. Defending champions in the Bundesliga,  La Liga, and Ligue one retained their trophies. But in the English Premier League and Serie A,  they had new champions. Apart from PSG, there is no guarantee that the clubs that won last season will retain their trophy. I doubt that Arsenal will win the League next season, so you might end up not making a profit.

Were you playing single bets or parlays during the World Cup? If you were going with single bets, i am sure the odds would be very small for Argentina to win in most games, so you cannot be profitable doing that. What makes your story worse is the fact Argentina needed extra time to beat Cape Verde and Switzerland, so if you simply bet on them to win, your bets failed.

I also have a friend that made above 300$ and another one won above 600 dollars too in similar arrangement of bets and I am so excited they did because it came like a reward to me being able to make such an amount within a short period of time.
