Now the catch here is if there is an attacker makes another wifi network which is the same like with the near coffee shop by this they can easily check whats the users activity with their network and what even their recent access but if you visit a not secured website or even the wifi makes you a task to install or re-direct and input into another website thats the time potentially they can steal information of yours and worst.. your assets.

It depends from your location, from your friends living with you or your family or whoever visiting you. The WiFi password is easy shareable. As I said also, in some places, cracking password is an easy game for some people who try to thief anything. Apparently you weren't used with that.

This content has thrown more light to us and those who are careful enough would put an end in connecting public WiFi.There’s an adage that people usually say that even in Freetown nothing is free,that proverb always point out to me that I should be very careful of free things,they may appear free doesn’t mean there isn’t an error or a consequence attached to it that you may not know.To be on the safer side after ordering a coffee at the shop don’t spend too much time there because the more you stay the more you may be pushed to connect to their WiFi,it is better you stay away from what would cause total chaos to your financial health than allow it to ruin you completely.Lastly,if you’re interested in WiFi why not buy your own personal WiFi and avoid public ones.

Its always risky to use public WiFi and worse if its anonymous i.e. we don't know who is providing an open WiFi in public place. Since we don't know the owner, we also don't know the intent behind offering a free WiFi in public place. These days mobile data is very much in range of majority of people and for security of your financial assets residing on your phone, always use mobile data or secure WiFi. We must avoid every WiFi which is freely available and everyone can easily connect to it.

I was wondering if these public wifi saga will affect school public wifi’s, can it be also safe? Because I know school authorities will not try anything funny with students and in case of big organizations and offices that have wireless networks, it should be safe for general use, or can an scammer outside use another company’s wifi to get victims?
For shops and open businesses, their wifi can be very dangerous but I think schools should be safe.

It’s true that access or using a free WiFi may actually help you save data, but what many people do not understand is that free WiFi, especially when it’s a public WiFi can potentially cost one their privacy

The point is not that public WiFi means that all your information will be stolen directly. Because if you use public WiFi just to watch YouTube, then there is no problem even if that data is stolen. But if you do sensitive work like Banking or crypto wallet, using mobile data is easier and a good precaution. There is no reason to take risks with a financial account to save a few MB of data.  However, even if you use mobile data, you should be careful of phishing links or fake apps, because not all risks come from WiFi. Another option could be a paid VPN.
