It is true that the Anjouan license is faster and avoids complications and strict regulations, but we must ask whether this simplification primarily serves the interests of casino owners (due to its lower costs and faster issuance) or the protection of players? It doesn't look to me like it serves the same purpose as the Curacao licensing authorities. I think it's described as bottom-tier license with several legal controversies. That alone is a red flag if you ask me. Even if the casino has obtained a license, players must verify that the licenses are valid and not forged and the withdrawal conditions must be checked, as true reliability lies in the clarity of the withdrawal conditions and terms and the absence of hidden clauses that disable the withdrawal of profits based on verification levels.
As a player, if the casino refuses to pay your winnings for whatever reason, what is supposed to act like their licensing authority is not responsible to step in. Plus this license has been restricted in the US and several other countries.

3. Always verify the license badge directly on the official Anjouan board validator before depositing.
Not long ago I stormed on this thread Minebit — BTC cash-out ≤ 8 min • Provably Fair • Anjouan licence. A fake and impersonating casino claimed to be licensed by Anjouan but one user (Solosanz) did some research only to discover that their license does not exist in Anjouan official site. You can find the attachment in the second post on that thread I provide the link above. We may have others fake casinos too that claimed to have obtained legal licences hoping that people won't care to verify their license claims. The bigger the industry is growing, the higher the scam attempts is increasing. It's high time gamblers take time to verify every information about the casino before they deposit.

2. Withdrawal speed relies mostly on your account verification status (KYC Level 2).
I think this is unfair. While many users don't want to proceed to a certain level of verification and compliant to their accounts. But understanding the situation of most casinos, they also don't like to give this kind of condition to the users but, they're also complying to the rules by the regulators. For the new casinos, being licensed whether it's with curacao or anjouan is a good head start. Although it won't be the deciding factor for the users if they'll actually be good because each of them has a different approach per customer experience and complains.

Thanks for all the insightful replies and solid community input over the last couple of days! A few key takeaways based on your feedback: @Cointxz & @rbynxx:Great suggestion on adding a side-by-side comparison table. Seeing how many people are confused about the tier differences (MGA / UKGC vs. Curacao LOK vs. Anjouan vs. Unlicensed), I’m working on a structured comparison matrix breaking down: - Player Dispute Resolution (ADR required vs. zero recourse)
- Setup Costs & Barrier to Entry
- KYC & Mandatory Banking Rails
- Verification transparency
I'll update the main article with this chart shortly. @Comeacross:Appreciate you bringing up the Minebit example. That’s precisely why point #3 in the OP is critical: never trust a static footer badge. Rogue operators often paste fake seals hoping players won't double-check the validator. Always verify directly on the official registry domain. @boyptc:Spot on about KYC. While crypto players naturally prefer zero-KYC, regulators (even offshore like Anjouan) require operators to maintain AML/KYC Level 2 frameworks for higher withdrawal thresholds to keep their own master license compliant. @leea-1334 & @Hispo:Interesting debate on RNG vs. Provably Fair. For newly launched casinos with lower bankrolls, variance on high-RTP slots is indeed a massive financial risk. However, closed-server RNGs will always lack the cryptographic auditability that Provably Fair provides. Updated the breakdown with these community observations: https://www.thelux247.com/anjouan-lizenz.htmlWould a visual Tier List graphic for crypto gambling licenses be helpful to pin in the main post here?

What I mean is, if you have a problem with casino, their help for players is almost nothing. At least that's what I observed.
Yep. These gaming regulators won't help, and they are pretty clear about it, too. Here: The Authority does not handle, mediate, or adjudicate player complaints. Disputes between players and operators are the responsibility of the operator and, where unresolved, of an approved independent ADR provider. The Authority’s role is limited to regulatory oversight — it monitors whether licensed operators comply with their obligations, including their obligation to maintain a functional complaints process.
Players should not contact the Authority to resolve a dispute. The Authority will not correspond with players on the merits of individual complaints.
In short, you are at the mercy of the gaming operator should you have any complaints, concerns, and whatnot. Fact! I think that none of one have the role to mediate disputes. If I am wrong and you know of one that actually does this, please correct me! In practice, what a certification or license does is verify the identity and operational structure of gambling websites, while imposing certain operating requirements, such as maintaining customer complaint channels, protecting customer funds, implementing anti-money laundering procedures and others. At most, they may impose sanctions such as warnings or fines if they find significant or repeated violations of their own regulations. However, for that to happen, there usually needs to be a large number of complaints, and it is probably at a stage where the website is already close to shutting down. So, a license is a sign of lower risk, not a guarantee against problems.

I'll update the main article with this chart shortly. Would love to check that later on. The thing is, I think only a handful of people knows this and I even just got interested on this tier differences because afaik before, as long as they have license that's fine but I never really question myself if it's strong enough especially to us players. You can update this thread too with that comparison table because not a lot of folks will probably check it, but I think it will hook them if in the first place there's something interesting in it to look at like this comparison table. Just my two cents.

Useful thread and information op. Firstly, a licensed crypto gambling site is always more trustworthy than a unlicensed crypto gambling site since they are investing serious money. Scam sites like Betmoco faked their licenses and stole player funds.
Secondly, licensed crypto gambling sites are not fully trustworthy and there are ranks to these licenses like you pointed out yourself. Anjouan is the lowest tier followed by Curacao followed by higher ones. Do your research people and stay vigilant.

Plus this license has been restricted in the US and several other countries. Yes, this is a very important point to pay attention to, which is that the licensing authorities are not usually responsible for payment disputes between the player and the casino. The licensing authority is responsible for monitoring the integrity of the games, protecting data and funds, and separating players' money from management funds, but it is not responsible for disputes between players and the casino. Therefore, every player must conduct their own research and ensure the integrity of the casino, not just its license.

That's right, they're also following the regulation that's given to them and so they have no choice but to comply. While there are still some that allows no kyc but with limited withdrawal amounts. Gone are the days when most of the casinos are not strict with KYC and everyone is just worry free to gamble and withdraw without being questioned during the withdrawal process to verify their identities. Would a visual Tier List graphic for crypto gambling licenses be helpful to pin in the main post here?
Yes, edit your first post and add it there. But as a newbie rank, it will only show the link not yet the image. At least the rank of jr. member will show image.

Hey everyone,
With more crypto casinos shifting to offshore jurisdictions in 2026, I noticed a lot of confusion regarding the Anjouan Gaming License (ALSI-202606032).
Unlike traditional Curacao setups, Anjouan licenses have been rising in popularity for crypto operators due to strict RNG certification rules while allowing fast crypto withdrawals (BTC, USDT, TRX) without mandatory banking rails.
Key takeaways for players: 1. All games must run on certified RNGs (Pragmatic, Evolution, Hacksaw, etc.). 2. Withdrawal speed relies mostly on your account verification status (KYC Level 2). 3. Always verify the license badge directly on the official Anjouan board validator before depositing.
I wrote a detailed breakdown on how offshore licenses compare to EU setups if anyone is interested:
What are your thoughts on Anjouan vs Curacao casinos lately?
These are all positive steps forward and if they are actually enforced will give an Anjouan license more credibility than others, but that has often been the downfall. These tiny island nations have a very hard time investigating the scale of complaints that can come in and this can lead to troublesome sites being able to potentially scam for much longer than they should. It would be better to know about the process that would end up leading to a license being revoked, but that is probably kept hidden. It can actually be hard for regulators to decipher a disgruntled player who lost legitimately versus one where the casino has acted poorly. However it does seem like those casinos with this license will or should be held to a higher standard than others.

Appreciate the ongoing discussion and great insights from everyone! @rbynxx & @boyptc: You make a very fair point about keeping the info directly on the forum rather than forcing people off-site. Below is the quick comparison matrix breaking down how offshore frameworks stack up against tier-1 EU licenses and unlicensed setups. Crypto Gambling License Comparison Matrix (2026 Overview)+--------------------+----------------------+----------------------+----------------------+----------------------+ | Feature | Tier 1 (MGA / UKGC) | Curacao (LOK 2024+) | Anjouan (ALSI) | Unlicensed / Offshore| +--------------------+----------------------+----------------------+----------------------+----------------------+ | Player ADR/Recourse| Strict / Mandatory | Mandatory via ADR | None (Operator only) | Zero recourse | | Player KYC Rules | Extremely Strict | Tiered (L1/L2) | Flexible / Min L2 | None (High Risk) | | RNG & Audit Burden | Heavy / On-site | Provider Level | Provider Level | Unverified | | Operator Cost | Very High | Moderate / Rising | Very Low | Nearly Zero | | Speed to Market | Slow (6-12 mos) | Moderate (2-4 mos) | Fast (2-4 weeks) | Instant | +--------------------+----------------------+----------------------+----------------------+----------------------+
@Fortify & @alegotardo: Spot on regarding the enforcement reality. Small island jurisdictions like Anjouan simply don't have the staff or budget to investigate individual dispute claims between players and operators. At best, regulators issue systemic warnings or revoke master licenses after persistent multi-million dollar fraud, which is usually too late for affected players anyway. @yhiaali3: Exactly. That’s why a license in 2026 should only be viewed as a basic registration paper, not a guarantee of payout integrity. True safety comes down to: 1. Public operator track record & proven payout history. 2. Provably Fair mechanisms for in-house games. 3. Active participation in third-party dispute mediation platforms. Curious if anyone here actively avoids casinos under Anjouan/Curacao altogether, or do you treat them case-by-case based on operator history?

That's a quick response there. You can put this table in the first page, the first post you've made and for everyone to see the comparison through this table and the risk it possesses for all types of licenses. IIRC, there's also this thread that has also included the speed but it's per casino but yours is with the license providers.

Having a verifiable gambling license from a recognized issuer certainly helps when comes to choosing a casino for us to deposit our money. But I would not say it is the ultimate guide or hint we are supposed to follow in order to trust a casino or not. As far as I know, there have been a couple of scammy casinos which actually held a gambling licenses and they selectively scammed their gamblers, that was the case with 1xbit and 1xbet, if I recall correctly. One also needs to do some basic research in order not to get scammed and verify the reputation of the casino on communities like this one we have here on the forum.

What are your thoughts on Anjouan vs Curacao casinos lately?
In fact, no license will give you 100% guarantee that a casino will never cheat. Yes, Anjouan licenses are now seen more than before and you have already mentioned the reasons behind this. Since almost all casinos are now dealing with cryptocurrency, they will naturally consider Anjouan first for its crypto-friendly approach. Also there may have been a lot of criticism about old licensing system in Curaçao. However, last year they introduced a new regulatory framework. As a result oversight is now stronger than before, imo. So I would give Curacao more priority than Anjouan.

I don't really see the difference. Will it really benefit the online gambler?
I mean, it looks to me like it's the online gambling businesses that should be informed about this. They are the ones who will pay the fees and take all those tests for the RNG or whatever they are requiring them to do. The gambler's focus should only be on the gambling site itself. Its reputation, withdrawals, bonuses, rakebacks, and its features. When it comes to security, those licenses will not even be there when a gambler has a problem with the online casino. Well, that's why some gamblers don't even care what license they took. Although it is an important part of seeing legitimacy, some just don't take the time to check.
