I have done about everything in the book, and flashed all of these Bitaxes (3x), but they refuse to connect to my Umbrel.local node and show any hashrate whatsoever.  Any ideas?

Originally, I thought it might be my ASUS router, but everything that COULD be a problem has been disabled now, and it was working for years previously.

Any idea why the system would work for years, and now all of the sudden, refuse to hash whatsoever on my solo node?

Umbrel.Local seems to be the issue, because the errors return normal when I set my Pool to "public-pool.io"

Has something changed recently that affected the Umbrel node systems on a local configuration?

Does anyone have any insights or idea?  It was working normally for years, so I have no idea what could have changed.

There's an old rule: if the hardware is working perfectly, there's no need to change the firmware. If you decide to change the firmware, do it on one device for testing. After checking functionality, change the firmware on the remaining devices.

Is it possible to publish the logs?

Yea, noted, but I'm not even sure if the firmware update is the precise cause.  It seems to be working fine on Public-Pool.io, but I'd like to use my node if possible...

Nevertheless, how do I attach my log file to this forum?  It doesn't seem to accept standard attached files.  Can I email it?

You can use any online service for txt files or publish logs on this forum using the tag
Code:

If the log is too large, it's better to use online services. I'll look at the log and send you a response. Did your custom mining pool work on the old firmware too?

Maybe the Umbrel.Local is refusing to connect to BitAxe.

How do you set up your BitAxe? What URL do you use? Did you just put umbrel.local on the pool URL, or did you put a local IP? Without Stratum protocol?

The logs should give you hints. You can post them here using code tag or follow the FP91G instruction above.

I uploaded the logs here:

https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/omsudqb8wyo30ls950rc1/bitaxe-logs.txt?rlkey=cbytojrpry62odpd135k0l160&st=6n2vhtru&dl=0

---

But the firmware doesn't have to do with the issue.  I merely have had the issue on 2.14.1/2.  The issue happened suddenly of no correlation to a firmware update.

The umbrel node was hashing for a year with just umbrel.local in the domain, but now it only works if I set it to public pool, even the non-bitaxe products won't connect to the Umbrel node any longer it seems.

I don't see any errors in these logs, the device is working normally.
The miner connects to stratum+tcp://umbrel.local:2018
error": null

Could you show me the logs where the error occurs?
A few dozen lines would be enough for me, not several thousand.

I see zero issues with the possible exception of overheating.  set point of 60c is exceeded to 63.4c

fan speed up from 31 to 51 %

I would try setting fan to 85% manual   and see that temp stays under 60c

also try making frequency lower say 475mhz not 525mhz

lastly repaste heatsink but be careful about it.  do not rush to do this. really go with 85% fan manual setting and see if you stay cool with that setting.

my guess is this is an overheating issue.

That is the log where the error occurs, which makes this EVEN MORE CONCERNING.  It literally isn't hashing on Umbrel, but there's no log error?  And the UI says error 100%?  How is that even possible?  Is the network not allowing it to connect or something?

And no, this isn't a heating issue.  As I have said, they all work on any pool other than the Umbrel.local, and there's a Noctua fan on it.  They run at a fine temp.

well unfortunately you changed firmware.

So A is this with the new firmware?

B if it is with the new firmware we will never know the older log reads.

Ok man, I told you like twice, that the firmware has no correlation to the problem I merely gave you what firmware I'm on...

Additionally, you do know... The very log you look at right now, is the error log of the BitAxe not hashing.

Nothing's changed, that system shown in the log literally does not hash whatsoever on umbrel local.  And my point is, it is concerning that you don't see a problem in the log, since it is not working whatsoever, and the firmware has NOT CHANGED.

You don't seem to listen very well...

Let's slow down a bit.

If the problem isn't with the firmware or the ASIC, since its logs show excellent performance, then I'd assume it's related to the pool settings. Perhaps the device isn't finding valid shares and the pool is showing zero hashrate, or the pool has a high difficulty.

In any case, you need to experiment with the pool settings or run the pool on a remote server for testing.

I don't believe it is finding valid shares, and thus showing 0 hash rate/high error.

But why would it have worked for nearly a year straight on the same settings?  I find the abrupt change inexplainable.  These did hash on the local node for nearly 9-11 months straight before.  Suddenly, here we are...

Anything notable change network wise in the last two months?

Have you tried replacing umbrel.local with your unit's IP 192.168.50.179 and put a similar port 2018 and then run and test it again?

I don't see much error from the logs provided, but it looks like it's not the unit issue. I think the issue remains in your umbrel node.
Have you checked if your Umbrel node is still connected to Bitcoin Core and if it's fully synced?

I suggest also check the Umbrel logs look for RPC connection fail or you could also share it with us.
