OP, if everyone goes by betting on the match they watch, do you think there will be a good number of matches someone can bet on every week, since there will be up to 20-50 games(guessing) to play on weekends? And it will not be more than 2-3 games that someone can spare their time to watch, and that's what they can bet on.

If such people go by that always, football is no longer fun to them; it is the money they stand to win, nothing else. I wonder, if the league matches start, how those kind of people will be making their bets on weekends.

good point... to be honest with you excluding some rare cases, I would not watch sports in tv if I am not gambling on it. its like the spicy sauces , you can't enjoy your favorite hobby/food without it .
this is part of our daily life. once has been clearly introduced the system for betting in such an easy and accessible way (including using crypto) it's totally evident we see gambling as something normal and part of our daily lives.

Some people can say betting on a game makes viewing or watching it more interesting, but definitely not everyone shares that same opinion, I see that it is possible that there are gamblers who would not watch a game they bet on probably to reduce the pressure that they are under while watching the game, people like this may enjoy watching games that they do not bet on because there is no financial attachment to it and they may tend to watch it with a fair mind or based on their peculiar situations have been forced to do so for health reasons, because there is less pressure involved when you are not losing any money.

There is a popular narrative that most of those local leagues are manipulative and they are easily influenced and perfect place to fix matches. Amongst reason is that they’re not well coveraged and regulated. I don’t believe that they’re not competitive because I have watched many and have seen how the tempo in those matches are compared to the A league team competition. The idea of it not been used amongst matches to bet on is the best approach to limit match fixing and loss of bets deliberately due to such acts from the locals.

I think many local sports are not telecast on mainstream channels. For example, I am a fan of cricket, but I wouldn’t go and watch local Ranji Trophy matches. The matches I do watch already have a large fan base, and therefore the market for them is also much bigger.

Also, I don’t bet on every match. I watch the matches, and only if I feel that I can predict the outcome, hence I place a bet. So, I am not limiting my watch time. Rather, I would say that I watch the matches I already enjoy, and whenever I’m in the mood to bet, I only bet on those matches.

Sports were previously considered for entertainment but nowadays people have started using sports as a platform for earning money. Although there is no way to think the same in all cases. But I can definitely say that those who gamble only focus on that particular game. If someone who gambles are asked to watch a game without betting, they will not find any fun in that game. And for this reason, I can definitely say that those who bet do not have much interest in watching the game outside of betting. If it is not a big event, then most of them will try to avoid that game. In my cause there is no difference when I bet, that game becomes very attractive to me. Aren't people who bet on sports generally fan of sports? I thought people who enjoy sports, watch their favorite sports, and betting is different part of life.

I think that at least 95% of the matches i have watched, i haven't bet on. Because when i watch, i am watching with friends, spending time with them and match is only basically an excuse to spend time with them.

But then again, i am recovering gambling addict and i don't feel like gambling needs to be related to everything anymore.

It doesn't rule out the possibility could happen but it seems this will not relate to what I do because I can still watch comfortably as a form of entertainment without having to do gambling in a spectacle or game.

There will always be a sense of where is ideal when we bet and watch the game we bet but on the one hand this for me is still optional because I can bet but not watch the game or the opposite of that.  Usually I in the league season always do something like this because the time difference is quite far sometimes I just bet and don't watch/watch part of the game without finishing it but on the one hand when I just want to watch the game but don't bet I can still do it because for me not everything we can bet is included in the match we watch.

Some data from online shows that only those who primarily love sports games for entertainment sake will only watch several matches while majority of gamblers mostly watch the games they bet on. You can check this survey by the Seton Hall Sports which was done since 2018 and shows that about 70% Americans says that they would most likely watch the games they bet on. I have also observe most people in my region, they mostly watch games that they bet on or the ones they would have preferred to bet on if not that they didn't have the money to place.  

Personally, I don't usually have time to regularly watch match, even the ones I bet on, but I have favourite games that I enjoy watching irrespective of whether I bet on it or not.

Gamblers or bettors are mostly interested in matches that they staked on, when the game isn't really in their bet slip they don't have the interest to watch because they think it is a waste of time and having that mindset is quite normal for bettors to have.

I had two games for Liverpool and Inter Miami, the both teams played time was beyond my sleeping time and I didn't even check till I woke up this morning only to see that my game played like I predicted. This is to tell you that I don't gamble and still watch all the games. There are community leagues that I find time to watch in my area when I'm bored and sometime it's entertaining to hang out with locals than to go to ball center where people are going to argue.

What you said is subjective, there are some gamblers that will not skip the games they bet on while some gamblers will not even bother to check one event even if the bet is shaking that it will cost their bet. Some people love bet so much that they will stay wake even in the middle of the night to watch how the game is going, that's how these set if people are, there are some that don't bet and will stay wake till the end of the match, people are different.

Well I don't know about others, but I don't always have to place a bet on team before I watch their match. Sometimes when I'm home, I scheme through my TV, looking for any interesting current match going on. I might not even be familiar with the team that's playing but I still end up watching the game till yeh end. It's how I love watching football. We don't have to always make it compulsory to bet only on teams we enjoy watching their match and also sometimes I might place bets on random team, without bothering about watching the game it self. Watching football is different from gambling or betting. This is where the clear dichotomy comes in. Watching football is purely for entertainment purpose and you don't have to watch only the teams you like to bet on. Some gamblers do not like to watch the match they have bet on because they don't want to have heart attack. And they watch those tem they are not betting on and support a team to win and that is for entertainment purpose. And it is not to make extra money but betting is to make extra money call profit. Therefore it is possible for gamblers to watch other matches for entertainment.

I don't completely agree. Watching football and gambling are definitely two different thing, that's true. A person can watch match just for entertainment, there is no financial interest on it. I also don't bet on all match. I usually avoid betting especially in my favorite team's match, because I want enjoy the match without any extra pressure.

However it is also true that many gambler watch matches mainly for betting. For them betting increases the excitement a lot. Some people bet live, some follow match to see if their prediction is correct. When money is involved even smallest moment become much more interesting.

There are some gamblers for whom watching a match is enough to be entertained; these kinds of gamblers have a genuine love and loyalty for football games. There are also some gamblers for whom football matches seem entertaining, and while watching the game, they may want to gamble on their favorite team.

It is very possible to watch a team without gambling on the game, and there will still be entertainment. Sometimes, one might even feel compelled to gamble, and if the outcome is not what one expects, it can make the game a sad experience in the end.

I think if the focus is only on gambling then maybe conditions like this can happen but for those who like sports or a particular game regardless of the presence or absence of betting in it then maybe they will watch it.

It will be great when we watch the game and we can bet on it but in some occasions for games like smaller leagues sometimes betting is difficult to meet so this comes back to the priority of whether the person is just watching because they want to gamble or they are just watching what they like.

I still try to do betting especially for football and big domestic leagues in Europe but on the one hand I also still like to watch other sports but don't do betting because it will be very difficult for me to bet like for volleyball. But because I like this game then I will still continue to watch the difference if there is betting then this will be a plus but when we just focus on watching because this liking will only be entertainment for us.
