You're right many still watch games because they live it not because they bet on them, thr feeling when you watch a game because you place a bet on it and when you watch out of genuine love for that sport is different.

There is some logic to what you are saying. But gamblers enjoy betting on matches more. I read a report on this subject, where it was said that a study found a different behavior of enjoyment in betting on matches. The answer to the question is base on the gambler view, personally I watch different match all the time most especially when I’m less busy and football match is the only way to help keep me active but, doesn’t necessary mean I’m betting on the team besides I find this even more relaxing when watching any match like no feeling of fear or anxiety what team is going to win or lose when my money is on the line.
