If the number of bets placed by Americans exceeds the amount of the American music industry and movie industry, I'm not surprised by this number because these industries are run by just a small number of people.

But if we calculate the number of people who are gambling every day and the amount of money being placed on gambling, it is a very large amount of money. I'm not surprised by the figures given by the OP because the gambling industry is also one of the biggest in the world.

Yeah, the figures don’t surprise me either. Because gambling is an everyday thing, millions of people place bets everyday, and more people even join, people lose millions everyday, so what are you not saying? Of course the gambling revenues would be quite enormous.  And this is why the gambling industry will always continue to rank among the highest and largest and most profitable industries, not just in the US but also globally.

The gambling industry is really exploding, and attracting many people into gambling. This figure recorded in the American gambling record is really huge, and that shows exactly their is high rate of gambling in the united states of America.
I would say, this record is not really encouraging because there would be more addicted gamblers than the responsible ones. Gambling involves high risk, and many gamblers spend more money than they win.
Some of this gamblers are high stakers, and they don't even burther themselves even when they loose huge amount of money. This amount is big enough to cover more than 10 countries yearly budget. This has shown that majority of football fans are core gamblers. I can remember during the world cup final, their were celebrities that place huge bets on the match including Drake that bet on Argentina to win the world cup final with more a million dollars in stake.

 This amount is huge and this shows how so many people see gambling as a way of life; a business to use money to make money. Maybe in 6 years to come, this amount must have doubled as we see more people joining the gambling industry to make money. The fact there is no actual upper limit on how much people can risk on betting it is one of the reasons there are so much money flowing into casinos and bookies. Unlike other entertainment industries, like movies or videogames, there is not a fixed price for a gambler or bettor to enter a particular marker, people are supposed to know their own limits and understand the risk on getting money on sportbetting.
On the other hand, the price of a ticket movie will be the same in the majority of cases, and the price for a videogames at its launch week will also be around 80 dollars and won't go higher than that.

I believe this OP touches the volume of American Gambling platforms and american gamblers, because people from that country have a tendency to hold a very good purchasing power, so they have more spare time to bet and gamble.

So people are watching less movies, music and spending that on gambling? A good number of people are pirating those content too and/or gambling. So comparing these two just by these metrics would be a wrong approach.

But what this tries to push is a narrative that people are becoming gambling addicts more than entertainment addicts? Why the multi-million dollar film industry and the music industry are starting to feel the crunch? After all the bucketload of trash content they produce with only a handful of good stuff over a year?

Either way, it is a choice what to spend your money on and if people are spending on gambling with a limit then the problem is not there.
