Well, this isn't something to expect from every employer but at the same time words of encouragement can actually Make a lot of employees do better, it is a psychological thing, even when it seems like someone isn't doing enough you can tell them that they are doing Great, this makes them want to do better but a smart employer would ensure that he always makes observations and outlines some things that they can improve on, this isn't to downplay their efforts or anything but it is to give them that reminder That they can make some improvements.

In my opinion compliments are not necessary in every work place, but if it's a work place where they render hospitality services, ( hotels, fast food restaurants, pubs etc ) it's important because the mood of the workers in this places are to kept in check, in order to make customers comfortable, and when they comfortable they can come back, the employer can't afford to be strict in this case.

Naturally, humans love praises when they're doing well in their task because it makes them do better so that they can stand out in their place of work. The problem with most employers is that they don't want their employees to know that they are doing well so that they don't use that avenue to ask for an increment in their salaries. Another thing is that some employers will feel that you are just doing what they employed you for that there's nothing special about it. In some corporate organization, they hire professionals and of course they expect the best job from you so I don't really think it is necessary to compliment your workers, after all they're doing the job you employed them for but it's not bad to also acknowledge their efforts sometimes by gifting them or adding extra amount to their salaries even if it's not done regularly. Any month they perform exceptionally well, you reward them with little token.

Most people feel that complimenting your employees would make them feel entitled and lazy because they think you can do without them. I don't know if this can be generalized or how true it is but I know that. People don't just assume things especially when more people have come up with same conclusion it means there is something about that ideology that makes it valid. Personally, I'll say it depends on the employees to determine whether they'll see compliments as motivation to do more or as a reason to settle. Well I also think too much of everything is bad, an employer is supposed to know how to balance things between compliments and seriousness at work.

In between fear and love from employees there is something every owner or employer values which is respect, that is the combination of fear and love at the same time. I prefer to be respected than fear and or loved, however in a good work environment there is a compliment tip-ship that goes with the best worker that allows for more productivity and efficiency in the work space, so yes compliment is very important.
Respect can fade but fear is always present because you know if you do not do what the employer says, you will be fired. I do not prefer to be respected but want to be feared as that is what gives more respect to my employees, this people are always very disrespectful until they want something from you so I do not want to be deceived, fear comes from a place of truth hence they can not fake that and and this means I am in control and not my employees. Compliments can be given to them but they must fear me as their boss to do what is best for the company to keep their jobs and that is what is more important not emotions.

A lot of people want to be feared, but however everyone have preferences, I prefer to be respected, reasons below; 1. When you’re respected and not feared your employees can become your lens of the society and whatever the society sees your product as. 2. Employees have good communication with employers that they respect and not fear, if they are afraid of you things can be going wrong and they will never tell you or say a word because you are feared and not respected. 3. With respect you have that respect too to yourself so in that case you don’t make yourself available for disrespect which will allow for more productivity. Everyone man feared from my perspective always get to the point where someone will raise above them and have no fear for them. But for respect, one can loss respect for you and find it again with no confrontation.

A steady compliment helps employees know when they are meeting the expectations of their boss. One can be strict and still appreciate efforts made by their staffs. In my opinion if an employer prioritizes respect it might become too hard for them to relate well with their staff and in most cases important suggestions or feedback that could help the establishment moves further might be withheld due to fear of the unknown or unpredictable reaction from their boss. Been kind and still setting standards is my own best approach such that employees work without stress or fear but with passion.

Should workers always look forward to being complimented or encouraged by their employers?
For a smart employer, praise and words of approval cost less than money. Should employees expect this? But do people take jobs for the sake of praise and approval? I imagine many are willing to overlook the lack of praise and approval if working conditions remain acceptable (meaning no excessive overtime and sufficient time off and vacation) and the pay is high. I listened to some people have a conversation and were complaining about the attitude of their employer being too strict and not complimenting them whenever they do a task or complete a job.
People confuse the role of a boss with that of "mommy". Are they still children at heart, looking to their boss for maternal affection and tenderness? This had me thinking about the importance of such compliments and encouragements even asides the salary that the employer pays them for the job. Do you see this as also important because some people will prefer as bosses to be feared than to be loved.
A salary supplement? Is that written into the contract? Your boss isn't actually obligated to do that. Of course, it boosts productivity and improves team dynamics, but I view praise and words of approval as an optional bonus - something a boss might share if they see a benefit in doing so. For you, what do you prefer? will you like to be loved as a boss or feared? , and do you see see compliments as important from an employer.
Praise from an employer is undoubtedly significant, as it is a highly effective tool for influencing subordinates. I would like to be the kind of leader whose instructions are carried out unquestioningly. That is precisely where a manager's professionalism lies. Love and fear are secondary (after all, work is no place for sentimentality) though they, too, can be utilized.

Let's relate this to some parents who has made their own children to be scared of them instead of respecting them, those parents thinks that is the best way of training a child and which is wrong because those children only get to be scared of their parents and can't express themselves even when they are in a situation that they needed to talk to their parents, they will prefer talking to someone else outside and in some cases they can be deceived in to doing something bad. Respect is more appreciated than to be feared, as it will bring and sustain a good atmosphere, for the success and growth of a company, in the case of an employee and the employer. I prefer being respected too.

If parents want to discipline their children by using fear, then maybe the children will do what they want, but those parents will never understand what is going on in their minds. That is why this will definitely create problems in the future. To get good output from children, they should be motivated. If there is motivation, even disobedient children can return to the good path. I think the workplace is no exception. If those who work are praised, they will be more motivated and will be able to give better output. If such an environment can be created in the workplace where employees are praised according to their work, those organizations will also benefit. Getting praise does not mean that there will be no accountability. There will be no strict laws. Above all, good employees definitely give more priority to respect.

I’ve always believed that people should have good, pleasant relationships at work. And you should always give them the opportunity to develop into friendship. But I was wrong. When I was still an office worker, I tried to be friends with my colleagues, and now I understand that I was mistaken in that intention. The thing is that when I was promoted to a position at the same level as those who had been working there for a long time, half of the people got offended by me. Those arrogant fools thought I wasn’t their equal, even though they’d constantly turned to me for advice earlier - even those who’d been in this line of work for more than 10 years. And then I concluded that compliments and kind words aren’t needed at work. Everyone there is like snakes to each other.

Can you imagine how those snakes would act, if you got promoted but they receive only a compliment for well done work from employer. As I have said, I prefer my performance to be evaluated by $ by the end of the month. Compliments are very short term motivation and in some situations makes employees work less harder, because they have already worked well and get rewarded by compliments. Some even work with less effort, because they were expected financial reward, but got only compliments instead. Next time they wont do their best to get "great work, keep on that way" compliment.

When you remove fear then replace love with passion you are saying same thing as respect because when employees have respect for you, it means you have set some standards that keeps them within check and not to do things that will cause your reaction in a negative attitude so they then work because they respect and respect their jobs. In essence we are saying same thing here but just a matter of word preference. You chose to called it whatever but that doesn’t change that the absence of fear in a work place but everyone is in conduct there is respect.

It is absolutely true that appreciating someone's hard work and effort does not necessarily mean that there is no deficiency in it but the real purpose is for a person to realize his good performance and also get better motivation to move forward. If criticism is given in a good manner and with appropriate words instead of discouraging a person it gives him an opportunity to work on his weaknesses and mistakes. Especially in a workplace, when an employee is made to feel that his efforts are being seen and appreciated he becomes determined and motivated to work harder. In my opinion real and good guidance is the one that has a balance of both praise and correction because only pointing out shortcomings can reduce a person's confidence. Ultimately, the purpose is not to make someone feel inferior, but rather to help him improve with his abilities.

This is where it must be emphasized that being a leader in a company or being a boss for employees is not only focusing on what to get from the target job but is able to assess the performance done. It would be hard to be in a big company but I think when everyone has a part and creates a healthier workspace, things like this can be done. The problem here is how employees and superiors behave, when trying to realize the position then this can be done but sometimes validation and ego make this a complicated thing especially when not accompanied by good communication. So its not only employees who must be required to behave well but here the boss must also be able to see the situation about the responsibilities they have to do in order to make the work environment more positive.

Any kind of compliment coming from a figure with authority over oneself would probably be taken with a grain of salt by most people. I think I belong to that group of people even though I am always hopeful of anything nowadays which is not fake and manipulative as most things tend to be in our "modern age". If I was a boss I would try to stay genuine but deep down I think I know I would have to make cold hearted decisions. Especially when it comes to employees. Nobody who gets paid a paycheck is going to work tooth and nail for your business. Make no mistake, loyal employees and employers are a rare breed.

I consider compliment similar as getting a diploma in competition. There are many who did not even participate and get anything, but those who participated wished to get medals or cups. The same I would wish to get a 13th salary by the end of years of bonus by the end of a month. Because when I get home, my family wont feel fed by compliment when they want food. I cant pay with compliment at the store or use it to lower my bills. As a one time reward for a new employee that might work to motivate him to stay. But for an employee who has been working for a while, imo only financial reward matter.

Complimenting your workers job is a way of encouraging them to keep it up or to make them give out their best, and even as a boss you need to be on the good side of your workers and that's how you make them loyal to you. Being a strict Boss will only lead you to make your work space uncomfortable for everyone and they can easily betray you when the opportunity comes there way , as a boss I will like my workers to love and respect me and if you really want to increase your work space then you need to start complimenting your workers and gain their loyalty.

Among the many ordinary employees, only who has the knowledge of giving leadership properly is promoted or made as boss. The one who can lead everyone properly can be the boss. There should also be some employees under the control of that boss who will help him complete the tasks well. A boss who does not behave well with his associates or does not appreciate their good work the employers don't want to work under the control of that boss, and they do not want to obey the boss. If a boss does not have the qualities of leadership, he will not be able to survive as a boss for a long time. Leadership can be given by the one who has the ability to control his subordinates and whose words the subordinates can follow properly. Compliments are a big quality to maintain leadership. Through this, the employees are inspired and able to produce good output.
