The El Salvador's Bitcoin plans is moving into one of its largest political examination yet, while the national Bitcoin office Continues quietly stacking roughly one BTC every day, the country's opponents has officially queue up debates for February 2027 Presidential elections suddenly, the future of the government crypto policy is gradually turning part of the political debate.
Openly figure from El Salvadors Bitcoin office shows national holdings have move upward about 7, 725.37 BTC as of July 27, up from roughly 7,700 BTC a month before. It's steady recalls that President Nayib Bukele's daily increases plans remains intact despite changing regulations. This also means that in the nearest future Bitcoin will eventually become part of government projects and controls policy.

It’s interesting that Bitcoin is becoming a political issue rather than just an economic one. The fact that El Salvador continues accumulating around 1 BTC per day suggests the current administration remains committed to its strategy. However, with the 2027 presidential election approaching, it’s also possible that future governments could review or even change that approach. I think it’s too early to conclude that Bitcoin will necessarily become a permanent part of government policy, since that will ultimately depend on the outcome of the political process. https://www.reuters.com/technology/el-salvador-announces-more-bitcoin-purchases-gives-imf-assurances-2025-03-05/?utm_source=chatgpt.com

When ever politics is involved in a thing one is not expected to have thesame a consensus agreement, and that is what I see playing out there in El Salvador. Election is around the corner and different parties are contesting, and so it expected that they will disagree with the policies of the president rulling party which Bitcoin forms part of its main agenda. I have read news about the candidates of the two main opposition parties criticizing president Nayib Bukele's crypto policies and how it a failure. But from what I seen neither of these two parties criticizing the present crypto policies has not said anything reasonable about what they holds if elected into office. The citizens of El Salvador which the right to electing their next sets of leaders will decide by voting in leaders that, will be crypto friendly. This is because crypto currency is one thing that the citizens of El Salvador has come to love and embrace.

We cannot simplify an election that directly affects lots of lives to a test for bitcoin. To us as bitcoiners it is a big deal to have a government name bitcoin as a legal tender and also be so vocal about adoption among its citizens and accumulation. But to someone living there there are lots more they judge a ruling party by.
Whatever the outcome of the election the current president has already made a claim for bitcoin to remain in the future of the nations financial policy.

Nayib Bukele has been a very good El Salvadoran president, violence and crime rate reduced during his time. Suicide, homicide reduced. Gang controlled areas significantly reduced during his time. Constitutional Chamber ruled that a sitting president could seek one immediate consecutive term, this allowed him to become the president again the second time. But before that time, reelection is not constitutional and not possible. He is going for the third term now because the legislative assembly approved removing presidential term limits totally, allowing their presidents to run as many as possible time. People like him, he may likely become the president again but is it now getting to what some people will say it is no more democratic government.

In July, El Salvador central bank actually told IMF that public sector Bitcoin buying had ended in February as required by their $1.4B loan deal. Bukele replied on X, "No, it is not stopping. So they are not buying, but that does not mean they are not.
The 7,723 BTC at an average price of about $64k is sitting on paper profits at the moment as the average cost of buying is about $45,200. That cushion is important ahead of 2027 elections, opponents cannot easily attack a policy that is in profit.
Political review point is acceptable. Winner in February 2027 takes on this role and now it is big campaign topic. Pro-Bitcoin candidate continues to pile on, opposing candidate may be forced to go under. That doubt alone could cause some unsteadiness around election time.

If the Bitcoin policy of the president of El Salvador is beneficial according to the expectations of the common people, then people will naturally like it. But according to the current price of Bitcoin, it will not be able to create any impactful position. However, I think that the president of El Salvador is definitely thinking long term and holding Bitcoin as part of a big plan for the future. He has approved it in the country. And in fact, it is not possible to get a correct idea about the actual mindset of the people of that country in El Salvador. This would be possible only if a person from that country came and presented the real position. And those of us who talk or think about it are only analyzing it from our own opinions and thoughts and information from various news. But overall, we consider El Salvador an icon as a Bitcoin country. And we want Bitcoin to create a positive impact on that country that will benefit its people..

Observing El Salvador, I have a question. Yes, it looks positive in the eyes of the BTC-community that this country continues to accumulate btc reserves despite everything. But at this stage, bitcoin is simply "devouring" the budget of a not-so-wealthy country and brings no benefit to the economy. This money could be used to create production or improve the well-being of residents who could start businesses, and all of this, ultimately, would have a positive impact on the country's economy. For now, this all looks like an experiment, the results of which remain unclear and unknown. You also mentioned the 2027 presidential elections, during which the country's policy towards bitcoin could change (for example, if the president changes). What if they decide to sell off all these assets? So, will El Salvador, with the help of bitcoin, become a world leader in the future?

Nayib Bukele has changed El Salvador and crime rates in the nation dropped dramatically under his administration. He has made the country safer and more peaceful place to leave in Latin America. I saw many reports that there are more people globally began to feel better about El Salvador and actually moved there to live and enjoy their lives. This is very big plus for Nayi Bukele to defend his position and continuation of leading the country, I believe he will not have too big troubles in this Election. There is page of El Salvador portfolio from Arkham Intelligence. https://arkm.com/explorer/entity/el-salvadorLook he maintain to have so high trust rating in their country. The president of El Salvador , Nayib Bukele , enjoys a 94% approval rating and virtually no name recognition among the population , according to the results of the second political opinion poll conducted by Data Poll . The study was presented yesterday, July 20, on the program “Las Cosas como Son” (Things as They Are), with data collected between July 8 and 12, 2026, in the country's 14 departments and the overseas constituency. I read this from here https://www.infobae.com/el-salvador/2026/07/21/nayib-bukele-mantiene-una-aprobacion-del-94-y-consolida-su-hegemonia-politica-en-el-salvador-segun-encuesta but you need to translate the site to English so you can understand all words written by that site. That mean most likely he have big chance to win again in next election. Also I'm not actually surprised about this knowing that he bring made lot of great developments and make El Salvador safe not only for their citizens, but also for those people traveling in their country.

In a democracy it is not easy to retain a certain law and legacy for generations, there will always come a time when the country will face reviews about their laws and constitution in general so the coming election would be a decider whether the citizens of El Salvador, are happy about Bitcoin being a part of their legal tender or not, that is if the opposition parties are against Bitcoin. I'm not aware about the manifestos of the oppositions of their present regim but if it centers on removing Bitcoin as their legal tender then the election would be a decider about the future of Bitcoin in that country. If Bukele, wins the election to return as their president it would mean that the country is solidly behind their Bitcoin adoption although I believe that reelecting the president wouldn't center only around his Bitcoin policy. Whatever happens Bukele, has demonstrated his believe that Bitcoin is a true store of value.

Assuming most government will rather harness such opportunities and improve the economy quality of it for the lives of it citizens, so many issues of unemployment will reduce drastically, some government particularly Nigeria government tenure to tenures they're fighting on accumulation and emmassing wealth for their next generations. Some times it baffles me how government will be fighting every means of surviving of it's citizens tagging bad sites, protecting citizens funds and morals, condemning internet sites that are monetize in order to hinder youths from having sustainable means and keep on rushing their fake Manifestos and campaigns. Bitcoin has become a welcome development in my countries and the government are actively involved but some wants to destroy every welcome development.

Making a report like this, it is more interesting to include a reference to it, so that we can also confirm it and as well read more about this development, you don't know that El Salvador has been into bitcoin investment for quite sometime, not only that, but also a country that first made Bitcoin in legal tender and has created enough capacity of encouraging for bitcoin adoption in within the country for it citizens, there is a particular thread dedicated for the discussion about El Salvador, which also stand a significant presence on discussing about their bitcoin achievements and other updates from within the country.

Based on the survey, Bukele is loved by the people and likely to win again as the president of El Salvador serving the country for his third term. Because as I understand the point of the topic of OP, what if he didn't win and there's a new sitting president. The continual purchase of bitcoin might be halted by the new leader. But, let's see if his popularity will remain him still as the president. And this is no longer a thing about El Salvador only, it's a problem that's being dealt by the majority countries in the world. Don't be surprised if there are people who are against development. It's only one thing for them, they're not able to prosper due to it because they have their own agendas.

The daily-buy framing is doing a lot of work here. Going from ~7,700 to 7,725 over a month is roughly 25 coins, not 30, so either the buying isn't quite daily or some of it is being reported on a lag. Small point, but "one a day, no matter what" is the part people repeat, and it's worth holding the number to it. The bigger thing that "changing regulations" glosses over is the IMF agreement. The loan came with conditions that pushed acceptance from mandatory to voluntary and were understood to cap public sector accumulation. The government kept posting purchases anyway. That gap between what was agreed and what the tracker shows is the actual story, and it's a far harder problem for them than an opposition talking point. Which leads to the part I find most interesting for us. A sovereign treasury turns Bitcoin into an election issue. Those coins sit with whoever holds power, and a future administration can sell them, pledge them, or hand them to a creditor by simple decision. That's the opposite of the property most of us hold it for. Corporate treasuries have the same flaw but at least shareholders choose their board more than once every five years. So I'd say the risk to that stack isn't the price. It's that its owner is a government, and governments change.

I don't think this thread raises any points that aren't already being discussed in the main thread on the same topic. In fact, it's somewhat speculative, since I haven't seen anything suggesting that Bitcoin is becoming an official part of public policy or government projects. It's true that El Salvador continues to accumulate Bitcoin, but that alone doesn't lead to the conclusion you're making. I actually think these elections are more of a test for Bukele than for Bitcoin. I think he's been a good leader, but a good leader also knows when it's time to step aside. For some reason, it's a bad habit in our region to believe there can't be alternatives in government. Anyway, for our niche, Bukele will always be a historical reference because of Bitcoin, but that doesn't mean he should be the only person to govern El Salvador.

Given that it was the first nation to adopt Bitcoin as its "official currency," and even though it abandoned the "project" years later, it doesn't surprise me that they want to explore greater possibilities and opportunities. El Salvador has already shown itself inclined to follow this path, and I don't think it will make a difference or influence the upcoming elections.

Not only that, but I don't think that Bukele can keep his presidency for a long time as that could be dictatorship already. And if I'm not mistaken, they have to change rules as someone for running a president consecutively, or at least their Supreme Court allow it for Bukele. But still though, regardless of how big they have stock up Bitcoin, it's the question on his terms. If he can still maintain and becoming their President. What if the next President doesn't like them buying Bitcoin as it attracts attention from governing body as giving their countries problems?

I hope Nayib Bukele is re-elected as president there. If he is not elected president in El Salvador, it's certainly possible that there will be different policies regarding Bitcoin. That wouldn't be good, in my opinion, because the Bitcoin project Nayib Bukele is currently running in that country has excellent prospects. It would be a shame if the project were to be halted or the regulations changed. Therefore, I hope Nayib Bukele is re-elected as president there. But considering that Nayib Bukele has already been president twice in El Salvador and has had a very positive impact there, such as imprisoning gangsters and making the country very safe now, Nayib Bukele should be re-elected. Because I think the public will recognize Nayib as a savior. So yes, with these things in place, I am sure Nayib Bukele can win again.

Bukulele approval rate is high, always above 80% and rising to almost 90% in 2026 according to Statista. There is a high chance that he'll get re-elected. Truthfully speaking his high approval rate doesn't stem from his support to Bitcoin because everyday use still pretty low, it was becasue sharp decline on homicides.
