The code hasn't been open-sourced, which raises suspicions that computing power might be being diverted to mine Monero or other coins. There have been precedents for this kind of scheme: launching a coin without open-sourcing the code while actually mining Monero in the background, then distributing tokens based on "contribution." I remain skeptical.

An interesting stance and project - it's the first time I've come across anything quite like this. I think the project would do well to consider going open source in order to build trust within the community. Unfortunately, I'm not in a position to judge - and don't have the time to assess -  who's actually right here, but I'll be keeping an eye on the situation, since there's no shortage of news about this project.

Event Horizon (KER) is now listed on Chainquiry

Event Horizon is a proof-of-work blockchain ecosystem built around Kerr (KER) and ISCO, an adaptive mining engine designed to run on CPUs, GPUs, or both simultaneously.

Project highlights:

  • Ticker: KER
  • Consensus: Proof of Work
  • Mining engine: ISCO
  • Mining hardware: CPU and GPU
  • Maximum supply: 100,000,000 KER
  • Premine: None claimed
  • Mining output unit: Luminosity (Lum)
  • Status: Live

ISCO automatically detects available hardware and adapts its mining configuration, allowing participants to mine using a CPU, GPU, or both together.
