A lot of these topics were removed and users nuked since they check the following criteria:
- Likely AI generated checked with multiple AI checkers (Thanks to Xal0lex for prompting this) & my own intuition especially with the topics which injected emojis. Also checked their english counterparts which flagged up for AI, so its not just translating into another language but rather their 'source' was also aided by AI, which I don't think they wrote the entire contents and then asked AI to spruce up. I think its much more likely they described their service briefly and asked AI to generate it.
- Quite possibly alt accounts of each other
- I've messaged some of them about deleting previous bumps without any replies or improvements
- Prompted by enough local users getting annoyed by it and subsequently reporting it. While I don't encourage 'mob' mentality, I will listen to multiple local users who contribute significantly to the local board reporting the posts especially if I'm initially unsure or on the fence.
The key quote for me is:
You can use AI to suggest grammar/style improvements, or to give you ideas, with you manually implementing those suggestions; but avoid directly copying more than a few words from the AI
I don't think the improvements were manually implemented I think whatever AI spat out, they copy and pasted including their English versions.
Also:
If you have the AI do almost a direct translation of something you wrote, then that's OK. For example, you can tell the AI to "Directly translate this text into Spanish: <something you wrote>"
If I believed they had written the original contents, I probably wouldn't have removed / nuked. However, since a lot of their posts including; spanish, English and german seemed to be AI generated and not a lick of actual original content. I didn't think this applied since I have reason to believe they didn't write it in the first place but rather prompted AI with a brief description.
Of course, the 3 user accounts that were nuked can appeal if they have evidence that any of the above isn't true.
For the record I don't think Xal0lex deserves the heat coming at them, they do a good job of moderation and from my interactions moderate objectively. Don Pedro Dinero, also is a fairly active reporter within the local section and I don't think they were specifically targeting these topics, maybe just annoyance that nothing had been done about them over a period of time. I only say this as they have reported other things within the section over a period of months.
