I don't bet only on the Premier League, there are other competitions I bet on as well, such as the UEFA Champions League and others. So, if I'm interested in betting on any match, I check the statistics and read the latest news about the teams to help me make an informed decision about the possible outcome. I don't have to wait for the season to start before placing a bet unless I actually took the decision not to bet until the next season.

You are actually very right, not every gambler gamble with unfamiliar leagues because sometimes they are local leagues or leagues they hardly watch. Presently there are leagues that are already going on since the well known leagues are yet to start.
As for me, I still gamble on these leagues that are presently going on, although not as serious as  the way gamble on the well known leagues, and I gamble even without watching those teams.

As for me, I do use stats instead of watching the teams play, so through stat, I can see the performance of each team, and from their, I can analyze the teams , and possibly make my own predictions from there.

I do not have to be familiar with a league before I will know on the matches to bet on the league. There are stats, predictions and AI which can all help. But if it is not interesting to you and not having fun with it, just do not bet at all. Wait until the major leagues like Premier League, La  Liga and others start in August.

There are preseason matches that are ongoing which are played by the clubs from the popular leagues you have mentioned right there. Yesterday was Chelsea up against Western Sydney with Chelsea beating Sydney 6 - 4.

My football betting or prediction is not only focused on betting in Just one particular league, because there are lot of leagues to get stalked in just one league competition. Why do I have to bet in various leagues? In order to identify the league I can get more winning potential because some leagues are very difficult to predict just like the premier League whereas some are just fair.

Secondly, there are still a lot of competitions ongoing to bet on, the Champions League qualification, Conference League, club friends and rest of other leagues that their season has started.
Why will I be waiting for the premier League to start? when there are other leagues to explore.
Focusing on a league do not guarantee winning.

There are some interesting fixtures still going on, a lot of international friendless, club friendlies and qualifier games for the Europa and conference league is on going. You definitely would gl across a lot of familiar teams in these fixtures and if the games do interest you, you can make a bet.

Honestly, I get your point, but the predictions, stats and AI you mentioned are all supposed to serve as a guide, so depending on it completely won't help. Football,you see, has a lot of surprises that most times, even with predictions you will still lose. So without you having an understanding of how the game is going, you will end up misreading the info that is being given to you by AI or stats. So I will say that adding your own understanding with a little bit of research about the game you want to bet on will be better than putting all hopes on mere numbers. Betting has a lot of risk even with all the analysis on ground, and it's not guaranteed that the outcome will be as expected.

The stats that I meant are the head-to-head, last 5 to 7 matches played and others which is very important to bettors. Free prediction sites can also be very useful to know some matches and select like one or two from them. AI is very good in predictions, but not perfect. Humans are not also perfect because the betting sites still always make money from their customers when if they do not use AI.

While waiting for the season to start, i focus  more on betting and watching the on going pre-season matches and i know this is a warming stages, where all the clubs intend of wearming their legs and preparing for the task ahead coming this season, so at such i only choose to take the risk on betting some of the pre-season matches and i stake with what i can afford to lose till the season fully kicks off and i know that feel so bored most times weekend approaches and there is know matches that I'm familiar with to watch, which i don't have any other choice than waiting since the FIFA world cup tournament just ended.

I think the answer should be clear, you need to wait until the championships start, when you'll understand which teams are worth betting on and what to expect from them. The qualifying rounds for the Champions League and Europa League have started now, there are many teams there I know nothing about. I'll certainly refrain from betting on those.

In this case, waiting for a new season is better than betting in unfamiliar league or team. It is tantamount to throwing away your money which is not advisable. You want to be very strategic about betting so has to increase your chances of a favorable outcome. In this case, a favorable outcome would be a balance between wins, losses, and being even.

I don't only bet on teams I am not familiar with, but also on sports I am not too familiar with. I mean, there is a reason why there are so many sites for checking stats and analyzing those teams and sports. Do you enjoy watching a sport you're not familiar with? Because when you say you're not familiar with a particular sport, that means you basically don't know how the system works in that league/sport, and you have no idea how the odds work. If you force yourself to place a bet on a sport you have little knowledge about, then you're just like betting blindly, relying heavily on luck - that's not fun, that's throwing away money.

While I am hopeful every time I bet to get some profits, I'm also expecting that if there's a yin, there's a yang. So there we go, the losses I am also expecting to come. We gamble, so anticipate both results could hit us, but more of losing. I don't wait for the next season for the sports that I am betting and with yours with football. If you are only into it, then wait for the official league to come but don't limit yourself only to it. You can explore with expected minimal loss. It doesn't make any sense to gamble in a game that you don't really know about, and the reason for this is that there is no entertainment or fun, but just being forced to gamble by all means to make money.

Gambling should be done when you know the game very well and are enjoying it. We have got 23 days left before the 2026/2027 Premier League Season starts fully, as it is expected to start August 22th 2026. So after the World Cup ended few days ago, with Spain emerging as the winning team, we have got Club friendly games that is currently going on for the past few days, and last week Saturday and Sunday we had several popular premier League clubs that played matches last weekend, such as Liverpool, Wolves, Aston Villa, Ac Milan, Everton, Newcastle United all played on Saturday, whereas last Sunday, we had Tottenham Forest, Inter and West Ham all played, which are all popular teams. Hence, those were enough option for an reasonable gambler who wanted to place a bet would have selected from. Rather than waiting till 21th August when the premier League starts.

I'd rather wait than look for alternatives to gambling.  I don't want to gamble in a situation where I don't understand what I'm betting on.  Currently there are many types of bets included in sportsbooks but it doesn't make me interested in betting because the competition has not yet started although there are some leagues like MLS that are currently still going on but because I am a layman with their strengths and only rely on statistics and standings then I do not want to take risks here.

The fact is that the wait will not be long because looking at the schedule of matches for competitions in Europe, we are actually only waiting for a few more weeks. There are interesting matches for the pre-season but for me it is also not very worth betting on so it will be better to wait than to force yourself.
