Social media also rewards attention. Whatever you post, if it captiviting even though it is misconception - you'll get rewarded if it's attracts attention. So I wouldn't say social media is bad or good. I will simply say it all depends on who uses it and for what. But not also removing the fact that it can also shape human behaviour.

The thing about the social media is that it has advantages and disadvantages. Before people’s describe it as a bad platform as they said it don’t allow the students to face their studies, which some stated that when the social media was never exist students where very serious with their studies.

And could imagine that today is this same social media that serve a lots of the people especially the students they find it very useful than uneducated people, because this social media platform has been a great source of inspiration for many people, since it has be a way of survival for the youths.

In another way social media has also caused harm to the society for example, social media has made false information to spread very fast thereby causing issues between people, social media has also made bullying and harassment very common, social media has also destroyed the unity in a family, if you check in many families a lot of them don't communicate with each other anymore because of social media.

From my own personal review of this question…I don't even see it as 100% harmful to humans it has been a lot of help to humans' lifestyle, and it also depends on what it is used for, and let's not forget that in life anything that is  reasonable has advantage and disadvantage, talking about how it's harmful most of the time the teenagers flex their powers on creating social media pages that bring fear faster, Do you know that one viral lie can reach 10M people before the fact-check gets 100 views. Politics, health, finance all of it gets twisted. So such is life..

The main weakness of social media is the ineffective enforcement of penalties for violating its own terms of use. The average social media user behaves impulsively, leading them to compare their lives to others and publicize private matters.

I've found statistics on social media users that show my country as one of the world's largest and most active contributors. Social media addiction is more common than we realize, atleast 95% of the people are suffering from it and the major reason for it is social media and the government don't have any idea to regulate it, which is why they are banning it with the hope of people switching to other things but no, it won't work like that.

I do not think that social media has caused any harm; it is just tool and depends on how people use it. It is giving the opportunity to the people to share their information, and it has also given ordinary people access to get information that was once difficult to get in different ways. It would be reckless of me to admit to one even though I'm more disturbed by the negative side of social media in general.
I think I might have to stand in-between as far as both options are concerned. Yes, social media usage has a massive positive side because it allow users to easily promote their businesses, and also allow people to earn from the engagement they get. It also makes the world kinda smaller, by housing millions/billions of people all over the world on these social platforms, and making vast amount of information accessible.

But on the other hand, it's negative side boils down to how most of the same users uses it. Most people just spend time on social platforms entertaining themselves. They struggle to make something meaningful out of their lives in the real world, but they spend hours consuming contents that doesn't add anything meaningful to their lives. Social media destroyed work life, employees work from home, removing in them the importance of working in a room with other employees. Routines are no longer found in the life of workers, everything revolves around work, after office hours, managers call to remind of a zoom meeting scheduled in the next coming hours that'll literally last for 2 hours. Social media has made progress in civilization and, in fact, social media has created employment opportunities for many unemployed youth in addition to income. Especially the young generation spends a large part of their education on social media, resulting in major setbacks in their careers. But In my opinion social media play both roles in the societies, but the major role it plays is that, it made people inform more than division. It's done both. We get news faster than ever, but we also get more noise. People stick to what they already believe and block out the rest. It has helped some people start businesses and speak up on issues. But it has also made it easier to spread lies and attack others. So it's not really about the platform it's more about how we as people choose to associate our mental state with it. Another problem is that the algorithms don't care about truth or balance. They care about keeping you engaged. And outrage keeps people scrolling longer than calm discussion does. That's what makes division louder than unity on these platforms.
