Some businesses requires a degree to run them and in such situations you definitely need a degree before you can start one. But generally, if you’re opportune to have both the degree and skills.. it is better and  it would help your business a lot.

For most businesses however you don’t need any degree to start them, so in that case your skills and experience would replace the degree and you can even become more successful and better than many people with degrees.

Well it depends, but if someone is very young let’s say below 20, I'd advice him to go get that degree before he starts the business because university or college life isn’t always just about getting the certificate.. you can even start a real business while still in school and you’d have some connections in school if you’re lucky.

I don’t still see the reason why people keep disregarding degree even though no much work out there to accommodate all degree holders. This is a very common practice now and I don’t buy that idea or mindset that’s pushing that. Being skilled on a job doesn’t mean you’ll be replaced by a degree holder because he went to school. Going to school and having an experience is a different thing. But when a degree holder has a practical experience, they become better and more smarter than the person without one.

Starting a business with a degree or not is not a yardstick to measure your success rate in that business, there are other factors that when you put in place, you’ll even become more profitable without any prior knowledge of the business. Proper planning beats it all, and when you work on your plan and you execute them as planned, you’ll see the success in your business with or without degree. Experience can not be fully disregarded also, it helps a lot when you have one in a business you want to venture into.

You're wrong. They don't. There are a lot more graduates each year than new businesses started, which is the most basic and fundamental rebuttal to your claim. In many countries there is a fairly low barrier to starting a business, but there will be costs and if you have any sort of business in mind that requires a lot of start up capital - you'll struggle to do it when you're young without a very good business plan. A degree is still free in many countries, but is ridiculously priced in places like the US and UK - in fact that can be an anchor on someones future career if they don't manage to secure a reasonably paying job with that qualification. Most people can learn what's required to run a business with a standard education up to college level, but will actually have to take on the experience to learn all the little skills that are truly required to run a company.

People always prefer to get a degree first if they have the opportunity, but not everyone that has the opportunity to go to school first. No parent will not want their children to go to school.

But some people that do not have the privilege to go to school may prefer to first work, earn money before going to school. I have a friend who is a survivor, he always told me that not going to school is affecting him. He even said there are some places and surveyor's meetings that he can not attend because he has not gone to university. He later went to university.

Going to school is good, but if you are very rich and you have not gone to school, I do it see any point in going to school anymore because you have high level of education enough which makes you become rich.

We have many who has this degree and they are also business people we also have people that are into big business but still going to school to get a degree sometimes some persons has this mentality that going to school to get a degree is a guarantee to secure you a job there are people who just want to have this degree not that they need it for a job, almost everybody are doing business now because that's one way to survive in life. I will still encourage people to start up a business and still go get a degree if necessary for them, business shouldn't be underestimate.

If you are new to business then it requires your considerable efforts and time to get success in business you have started. Those who inherit a running family business, find it east to run. People attain a degree for different reasons, there are lots of scholars today who are practically academicians, they do research and are very vocal in their quest to see things beyond normal, the knowledge they've acquired is enough to fetch them money to survive all through their life. The concept of university degree is to equip with knowledge, if you choose to work for somebody to get paid, that's is your choice, the business owner that wants to employ a degree holder wouldn't have employed a degree holder if he wasn't having such degree. However there are lots of people that own a business by simply learning the act of trade from somebody, they've gotten experience by observation, and one of the best form of learning is observation, so those set of persons can go ahead in opening a business without needing a degree.

First of all, not all degrees is 4 years. Some professional degrees require more than 4 years course of study, with internship or extra programs to make it complete.
Some jobs with a degree can earn more than some businesses also, so it quite depends on the kind of business one intends to scale.

It is not everyone who starts a business that decided to do so, it could be because they couldn't afford going to school to get a degree or something else as their reasons hence they simply settled to do business.

Lastly, when you run a business, you must at some point require the brains of someone who has a degree to make it work and you must pay them well, so it's important to get know which you want and also know how to read, write and understand before starting a business of your own so as not to be cheated or scammed along the way.

You really seem to be the one making assumptions coz there isn't any scientific proven data which says that the uneducated and below average individual are those who claims that business is better than a degree.. Surely a degree is very much valuable, but don't get it twisted, coz classroom isn't the only place where business knowledge is obtained.. Majority of graduates today who probably spend a good number of their years studying in the university still find it very hard to run a business, they will still need the tutelage of those who you assumed to be uneducated and below average...
Let even face the fact, customers don't ask if you are educated or not before patronizing you.. You just create value by having what they need, as well as what can satisfy their needs or solve their problems and then you are very much good to go..

Do your research on labour force data and educational statistics, and you will realize that the reverse is the case. The majority of people are chasing higher education to obtain a degree and secure paid employment, while only a minority of the population is actually interested in starting a business. Do you think being an entrepreneur is easy? Nope! It's not, mate.

To answer your first question, I would say that it actually depends on the kind of business you want to go into and the extent to which you want the business to grow. I hate it when a small portion of the world population gives their ideology that business is better than earning a degree. They will generalize it to be so, whereas education is the key to pretty much everything, and it unlocks economic growth,

Let everyone enter into business then; let's see who will treat and prescribe drugs when you are sick. What about our educational system? Who will teach our children how to read, write, and analyze things?

A degree is not a requisite to start a business except for some exceptional kind of business that a degree becomes paramount. To say, it might not be a good idea to face a teenager with a question of choosing between a degree and a capital to start a business, there natural ability should say it all before personal decision under parental guidance but as an adult it can be understandable to choose between starting a business and a capital for business. I think you sort of answered your own question, as the most obvious reason people choose business is the high income porential. If business didn’t give a relatively higher potential income thwnnoe one would have done business as it involves much more headaches than any degree. As far as im concerned i will choose to get a degree first then start a business as it is always good to have a backup if things don’t go your way.

Well, you can do whatever you decide to, there is no universal rule that states that you must get a degree first before starting a business, it all depends on your priorities and your plans. If the business you are getting into would require you to get the attention of certain people then it is best to have a degree and not only because of this reason, having a degree is an investment in yourself.
