Because a successful business can bring much higher income, while a job after a degree usually has a fixed salary. A degree takes about 4 years and costs a lot. A business can start with small capital and might grow 4 times in those same 4 years. Plus, many graduates still struggle to find good jobs.

Both businesses and degrees are important and play different role in different fields but the power of education can never be overlooked despite whatever situation of the country. This situation is found in most underdeveloped countries where education is not valued and the people are forced into trades and businesses that pays the bill.

Business is good but a degree with a business is better, a degree is a measure of your hardwork and qualifications for a work. But to be exclusive, a degree holder is not always smarter than a casual businessman as most people are naturally intelligent with or without education.

I don’t really know how things work in the country which you are from, but in my country, honestly people value their education, even if you own a business, you still going to have a degree. We should know that education is not all about getting a degree, and looking for job with your degree. If you have a degree, it’s exposes us to some thinkings, which is going to help you when running your business.

Some people don’t even work with the degree they have, but they just want to get it just to show that they are also educated. After graduating or when they are in school, they just establish little business which they going to manage.

I will be getting a degree first before I start a business, because I believe the degree is going to help me in running my business. Degree exposes us to something’s which is going to help even when we own our business.

A lot have been into business right now, even those who are non-degree holders. And for them, education is expensive, yet it can't still guarantee a stable job after graduation. But if they focus early in business, they might build a brighter future and financial stability once their business pays off.

However, reality hits that most of those who succeed on business are still those who have gained good background and understanding on the nature of their business and who are mostly degree holders but since the opportunity to work on their ideal job isn't available yet, hence starting a business would be their biggest alternative.

While those non-degree holders, yes they also create good business and provide satisfaction to their customers, but since they still lack even the basic knowledge and strategies in running a business, and have no sufficient courage and endurance, most of them quit earlier leaving their business unprofitable. This is just how I observe some business owners in my own locality. Those who have finished their degree are even more patient to wait for their business to profit while those who have no degrees are mostly impatient and have no sense of focus and direction for their business.

There’s nothing wrong with starting a business, but if you have the chances to go for the degree I will advice  to go for it first , then you can decide to open a business. The truth is that degree won’t guarantee you being successful and stuff but it will open ways for so many opportunities,  managing a business is not an easy one you will need the gift of marketing and also the knowledge to maintain that business too .

IMO, many degree holders have realized that they're not going to be an employee forever. Having a degree gives a fresh and good start becomes more hirable than someone who doesn't have. But, a skillful guy without having a degree is more desired by companies these days.

A successful business can give you the ability to pursue your career further. But having a degree does not mean unlimited freedom, either does it guarantee success. Business can provide several opportunities for an individual to grow and developed into a great standard. Living your dream life is the greatest joy in life. Every individual will pray that struggling should never be their potion after putting so much effort and time, and also spending so much resources on gambling. The reason why some people further their studies / education is for them to be able to secure a well good paying position in their working place.

First of all, let's not decrease the value of education, because getting education is as important as getting skills and experience about something and then starting a business, because if you have education, you will see how it helps you at different points in life compared to those who don't have proper education and are always struggling with stuff.

I would say it depends on the businesss. I personally believe that a person who has education within the field in which he is going to start a business, he can be way more effective with the business than someone who doesn't have formal education about the business.

Think about it like this: degree has become a business for people who live from selling it to others (universities) without giving any guarantees in counterpart that the individual with a degree will have a job after studying for 4 or 5 years.

It is not as if people don't value education anymore, but things have changed. Previously, people preferred to get a university degree because after graduation there were jobs waiting with good pay, but right now it is not like that.

It is better for one to secure income through business, and with the cost of education, it doesn't make sense to spend so much and then find it very difficult to get a job after graduating. Business comes first, and in succeeding in this, there is still time for one to go to school, and one can comfortably afford the bills. I think both education and business are very good, but because of how times have changed, one has to choose which one should come first to make life easier.

Where that "many" comes from. Why will you prefer business over degree? What is your foundation of doing business in the first place. Most businessman i know are degree holders. Who gain experience and apply those experience on their business. That's usually their way of doing business. This is coming from a single view or lens view of the world but however op I think you need to explore more, visit places more and have a culture change or experience direct ways of life and you will figure out that many in your part of the world like to go into business or entrepreneurship than going to university to get degree and most of the people in this vicinity see high institutions as place to make friends and have social network than gain formal knowledge but however can you also do the same for professional careers? Of course not which proves that not really many are going into informal business sector but this informal business sectors help the economy too.

In the Philippines, you'd see a lot of small businessmen who didn't finish any degree at all. But the hustle that they do is amazing, and unbelievable because they have learned everything through trial and error as they gain experience and that's the diploma/degree that they've eartned in life.

The culture here is different, you'll not land a decent job if you haven't got a degree and that's why majority of the family here have the same belief because most companies requirement is a degree. And that's to finish study so that we can get a better paying job. But the stalls owners and vendors, they earn more than the minimum wage that a degree holder has got. So, it's a belief of many that to finish studies first is the better choice whether we continue in the career path of our choice or before doing a business.

In my part of the world where I come from, getting a degree is usually the first thing that comes to people’s mind. They do not even think about starting a business because the economic climate almost makes it difficult for a small business to run. There used to be an apprenticeship model where young people don’t go to school but work as an apprentice for many years before being let go by their boss, to start their own similar business. They are usually paid off handsomely for their years of service and are supported to start the business. These ones do not go to any school and most times they end up very wealthy more than those who went to the university and earned a degree.

Business interprise runs on knowledge and experience which can be thought better only in the classroom, majority of those that say business is better than education or degree are in the class of uneducated below average individual who's business is run at a limited level.

I won't argue with your narrative but maybe people have different life's preferences. There are those people who think that education is just a waste of time and money, therefore they invest their time, money and efforts into a business and surprisingly, the business blooms and turn them rich in just less time.

However, this belief still runs in my family that the best business or investment we can have is education, and once there is good and quality education, eventually doors will open a lot of chances and opportunities in life that set to create growth and progress in one's life. And personally, this is still true up to now as most those who succeed in life are still those who are degree holders, while most of those who live in extreme poverty are those with no educational achievements.
