A 1.5% tax on the buyer, for a $100 worth of purchase, the government is taking $1.5 as tax.
That is just part of the tax which is stamp duty, the tax is more than that, it is up to 30% in some areas.
Exchanges will be the ones taking the tax, knowing it would come this way, i am not surprised.
You can see penalties, which means exchanges can not do all the work. But if you are referring to stamp duty, it has to be the work of the exchanges and not paid manually.

There is more clarification of the tax but crypto tax in Nigeria has taken effect since January 1 2026.
