It looks like Gianni Infantino's grip on FIFA is finally starting to slip, I wanted to start a thread to see what everyone thinks about who might be stepping up to take over the role next.

It will be nice if this event is added in the prediction market bets.
The discussion will be more interesting if only it is treated more where bets is involved, maybe there clues will be given by the stats. So we can just pick who we think is getting the official position from the options if provided.

Right as I think, there are  bettors who are not concerned about this update arguing about who is to be the next FIFA president.
Some bettors who only focus on the game outcomes are verily less concerned about the games managerial perspective but I believe those betting on prediction market will be delighted about this discussion because, the event is part of the events they bets on.

I don't think Infantino will give up easily. He's been in that position since 2016, which is quite a long time, and he's worked with so many people to maintain his position. So, for another candidate to challenge Infantino's influence at FIFA might be quite a challenge. However, from what I've seen, none of the candidates appeal to me. They're all essentially the same, each with their own interests. But that's better than Infantino, who has excessively transformed the current normality of football into his business.

After everything that has gone down recently regarding FIFA's plan to sell off a 20% commercial stake in future World Cups to private equity investors for $20 billion, Infantino is facing unprecedented backlash.

He actually intended to sell the 21% stake  ^{(not 20%)} to Joshua Kushner's investment fund for $4.2 billion (£3.1 billion) ^{(not $20 billion)}. The part they played in the World Cup is an example of what we see here, and given what they did there, I'm curious as to why all 200 out of FIFA's 211 member associations initially promised to back him for reelection.

Offering $20 million bribes to individual federations backfired and major confederations including UEFA, CONCACAF and the Asian Football Confederation have all officially rejected the proposal. Figures like La Liga president Javier Tebas have openly called for his resignation, German FA president Bernd Neuendorf refused to endorse his re election and the Football Association of Wales became the first association to officially announce they will not support him.

I didn't know about this aspect until now, and it clarifies why he intended to profit in any way possible during the World Cup to finance his upcoming election as FIFA president.

He is causing more damage to the FIFA organization and football as a whole, so I hope he is removed from his position as the FIFA president. Nevertheless, I won't be shocked if he isn't removed from office because of the favor he performed for President Trump's relative during the World Cup, which I think was done on purpose to win the President's support when he encountered difficulties prior to the election. As a result, until things settle down, I am unable to predict who will be the next president.

Infantino is done, but I doubt that anyone new can change much... It's all about the money, and we all know that. One president leaves, another arrives, but the system stays the same. And that system is designed to make more & more money, because that's what drives everything...

Yes I agree with you that even if Gianni infantino is voted out for what ever reasons they want to vote him out, others coming in might do the same or even worse than him. Left with me Montagliani Victor who is the voice president should be the one good enough to be there because he is in the system already, but at the same time might have been corrupted by the president Victor. My other option is Motsepe Patrice who is CAF president representing the African football. There maybe sentimental reasons based on his colour.

It's kind of strange that they are still listing Al-Khelaifi with those odds because according to this statement, the chance is pretty much zero. Or is he waiting to see whether Infantino is losing all support and then announces his candidacy? it doesn't look like that to me, the words are pretty strong and don't suggest a possible candidacy at all.

Mr. Al-Khelaifi has absolutely no ambition, no intention and no interest in the FIFA role and all this media noise, and instead will continue to quietly and constructively support all the institutions of world and European football.

I think that Ceferin is definitely the most likely candidate for that position. What are the odds for Infantino himself? I could find that Kalshi traders give it a 40% probability that Infantino will be out this year. It seems he is currently trying to get help from Trump and I wonder what that help could look like. Additional tariffs for all countries who don't support Infantino?

What interests me is that they change the FIFA president, it doesn't matter who it is, as long as this is one of the most corrupt presidents there has ever been. I don't know how some people think otherwise, that there was no theft, no corruption. You can't be blind all the time, or pretend you don't see. Many here in other threads have said they didn't see corruption. I wonder, were they watching the World Cup or some other sport? Because it was too obvious.

Gianni Infantino has been in office too long. I think he been FIFA president for 10 years. that enough time for him to step down. I'm very disappointed with football under his leadership, where many rules have changed. I still remember the Munich vs. PSG incident in the European Champions League that shocked the public, sparking a debate about the ball touching Joao Neves hand but not being awarded a penalty. Many basic football rules have been changed during his leadership, so football is no longer the sport it once was. And that's very disappointing. It would be better for him to step down rather than have to fight public pressure.

I don't understand why Ceferin is ranked higher than Al-Khelaifi. It seems to me that the ideal option for UEFA is for Ceferin to retain his post and Al-Khelaifi to take over FIFA, thus giving Europe complete control. If I were betting, I'd bet on that outcome.
As for Infantino himself, judging by the leaks, he's frantically seeking support, but so far everyone has turned their backs on him. It's a shame the details of this behind-the-scenes struggle are almost completely hidden from us, I'm sure incredible things are happening there

You should have included an option where he retains his position somehow since that's what I would vote on currently despite not liking that slithery snake at all primarily due to the support he commands from developing countries like Africa, South America etc.

If he continues making bad moves until the election, we could possibly see a new president being voted in. If not, he will probably reclaim his presidency sadly. He's basically the clownish Trump of the football World basically.

I want to know why you said that if Al-Khelaifi becomes FIFA President, Europe will take control of football. Maybe you are saying that the Qatari can be influenced by Europeans.

Infantino is in big trouble because he bit more than he could chew. Maybe the Swiss would go and seek support from his good friend Trump. The US president might threaten nations with sanctions or military attack if they try to remove Infantino or vote against him in the next elections .

Rumors are circulating that Trumpy is not answering his calls, which is not surprising considering that the business of the century has apparently failed. Therefore, why support someone who has already sunk, only that should be officially confirmed.

It doesn't matter to me who the new FIFA president will be, because I've already written that things need to be changed from the ground up, not from the top.

I honestly don't like Ceferin since the time he allowed the match between Atalanta and Valencia to take place, regardless of the fact that the match posed a serious health risk at the very beginning of the corona virus pandemic. Bergamo subsequently became the city with the most infections and deaths in the EU. If there was justice, he and the idiots around him would have been tried a long time ago.

FIFA should be really careful after the red card incident that Trump asked as if he was asking a friend for a favor go remove that red card from a US player. This was really unprecedented before and has left a very bad feeling and image that FIFA would take a long time trying to make this forget for most people. Remember 2002 when Korea beat Italy 3-0 at least that referee who clearly favored Korea because he took money was greatly punished, something we are not seeing anymore.

The next FIFA presidential election is set for March 18, 2027, at the 77th FIFA Congress in Rabat, Morocco, with a candidate declaration deadline of November 18, 2026. However there is growing speculation that he might not even make it that far. If 19 of the 37 members of the FIFA Council call an emergency meeting or if 43 member associations formally request an extraordinary congress, he could face a vote of no confidence and be forced out well before the 2027 vote.

I came across this news on Facebook few days ago and I thought it was a rumor not knowing it's a very true, well no one will force infantino out of office unless he decides to leave or resign due to the pressures that will be mounted on him, it is understood that even if he leaves the office as president the corruption in football will still remain nothing will change as anyone that will replace him will still come after the money, football is all about the money so an election will need to take place before he will leave office officially but if he he's strong he can still hold unto power till 2027.

I will love to see an African Man given the opportunity to be the FIFA president this time around and that person is Patrice Motsepe, it has always been European citizens rulling so I think without criticism the chance should be given to a black Man this time. I believe Patrice will do better and should be voted for.

I think infantino has taken the wrong step when he tried to commercialize FIFA through his private investment drive that has been highly criticized by almost all the prominent leagues managers. His position may not go beyond this tenure because of different allegations of non transparent leadership. The world Cup experience of infantino was filled with so much allegation, I think he amplified corruption in his tenure. For now, I read Aleksander Ceferin is the favourite to take over all things being equal in March 2027.

A few days ago, rumours were circulating that Trump had put forward Gianni Infantino as the next President of the United Nations, something that is rather amusing given the implications and the scandalous issues that came to light during the last World Cup. It seems, however, that cracks are beginning to appear in the international football system and that Infantino has carved out a path that may well lead to him losing the presidency, even though his friendship with Trump is very important for securing votes; furthermore, Trump would like to get his hands on the broadcasting rights for the World Cup. From my point of view, as it is a purely political role, I would rule out former footballers and back Ceferin.

Now that the names are not officially announced and if most of those above listed names are not in the official list, it will be wrong prediction so it is better we should wait to see the official list from the FIFA website but as far now. I don't think Gianni Infantino will be removed from office because this is not he first time I have heard his misbehavior in office but has been withstanding those pressures till now so the best way is for the international football federation to vote him out and replace him with a good mannered person.

If Infantino leaves but the same voting system remain, where each of the 211 member states has an equal vote then the new president will essentially be forced to form political coalition. Can you change everything with just good governance? no way.

So I don't think FIFA will be fixed just by new faces. And I don't pay too much attention to bookmakers odds. They actually show market sentiment. These are not certain probabilities. Most important thing here is who can form a coalition of how many votes. It is not about who is popular.

A new person being the President of FIFA won't introduce the needed change if the same system is still in use for the election, and the model of operation of FIFA.
I hope the annual pay package and bonus of the board member of FIFA are split into two so we can only see people who are sports enthusiasts going for the office instead of people who are not sports enthusiasts going for the office because of money and other rewards they are going to get in office, or through game manipulation. While they let the investor board member be in the selection of the team to be in charge of commercial and event operations right.

Forcing him out from office when his time isn't over yet will look a bit to be dramatic and might cause some unnecessary chaos which isn't right. So I believe they might likely want to leave him to complete his current tenure pending on when it will elapse, so that due process will be orderly taken on him. However, with all the accusing fingers pointing at him on his misconduct and curruption charges in recent time, I doubt if he can easily come out of this not to talk of coming back for the next term, i still not seeing it happen not never.

that will ordinarily be my interest too. For Infantino to leave. However whether stays or decides to leave by stepping down, what I think most of us are interested in is to see a president who prioritizes integrity of the game over commercial interests. Infantino’s administration which is spanning a decade now has been heavily criticized by several number of people since he came to power and I also believe he is hobnobbing with politicians including recently with the likes of President Trump to gain influence and for commercial interests which has somewhat bring favoritism to the game. I think every FIFA president needs to stay away from politics and politicians if they want to remain apolitical because football is followed by billions of people around the world and major decisions do affect different minds and interests. For me, the next president should just focus more on improving transparency, fairness in officiating and accountability, also the next FIFA president should stay away from politics.
