When the rate of competition is low, life becomes much easier and things in generally is not too difficult. that was the case with how things worked in the past but at present, you can not really expect that what was obtainable in the past will still be obtainable in this present day society.

We are living in a time that if you want anything and before you can not even get anything, you have to earn it. if you are not ready to earn things, then you generally don't have a place in todays society. traveling to certain countries now is almost impossible because of travel ban and visa rejection that is almost becoming a norm. what this calls for is basically a situation where every country take retrospect of themselves and build the right system that makes their country a run to nation. times have change and for the sake of the security situation that is facing different nation and the fact that countries are now borrowing more than people, access to loan cant be the way it were in the past.

Things may be much  more difficult now than it was in those times, but don't you think you are exaggerating a bit too much...Getting things like jobs may have been much more easier then, but what you should also note is that, every generation or say period of time has their own challenges... And that's exactly why not everyone where still successful back in the days...They were still some immigrants in those times, who struggled to make both end meet after committing themselves to long hours of tedious labor in factories, cleaning services, as well as other demanding job.. And for some after all this, they eventually built themselves a better life, while some still wasn't able to... So even back then OP, for some folks, arriving in those mentioned countries didn't guarantee success...

And also I really don't think that we should see easy access to credits and loan as a proof that life was better. And that's coz loan are borrowed funds which will still need to be repayed... And if someone  with an unstable/ unreliable income takes a loan that loan can become a serious financial burden, could even lead to defaultment in repayment...
So even back then life too wasn't bed of roses, as folks still had to work and get things done...

I feel that it's easier really way back then, life was much simpler than ever. And for the adults, they get regular jobs and they'll get multiple approval from the banks. It's different this time, most banks have been stricter and you're not going to be approved if you're not having that good salary anymore even if you're a regular employee and gets a stable income. But you know what, change is constant and everything that we're having now. We should live by the present and make that past as a basis of how life has been if it's better or not. I guess most economies before were better than today.

To be honest, the opportunities I missed in the past always make me sad. When I could have easily done better in my academic exams if I had tried a little harder. Old times were good but also depends on the period you are referring us to, in the old days, there were things that were never in existence in my country which people needed to make life more easy, some things back then was not so efficient but now we have many innovations that also made life much better. So, even if you miss the good old days, it's not everything about it you will miss. We know that money had more value then compare to now that so much of it has been printed and the purchasing power is not the same as before, inflation has also spiked and the income that some persons are earning every month is not even enough to foot all bills meanwhile in the old days, that amount would be able to do quite a lot of things and the person would have more to save.

The easy money credit did not happen without some obligations being fulfilled before receiving it, just as you would still have to fulfill the requirements now to get the credit, changes took place and it was also for the good.

If we are talking about the olden days them anyone below 50s cannot say much about it because it was the story that your parents told you. Inflation and corruption has eaten up the purchasing power on Fiat currency overtime which has made life more difficult for the common man.

However, even during the olden days when all these stuffs were cheap and easy to achieve, we still have poor people around because life wasn't easy for them then. However, I prefer this time because then I was a child but now I am living comfortable regardless of the high level of inflation.

There was no time in my country when you could have free access to money. If you buy things on credit or take loans, you would have to repay them.

I miss the time in my country when there was less inflation. The dollar was valued at 197 in our local currency. Now the dollar has risen to 1,362.48 Nigerian Naira. Buying things from other countries is now expensive because of the exchange rate.

This is perhaps called technological progress. As we become technologically advanced, our skills and knowledge should also improve. The sources of income should also increase for the increasing population. But in reality, the opposite is happening, the sources of income are not increasing and instead of increasing the knowledge of the people, they are decreasing. Developed countries have adapted themselves to this technological progress where there is still no shortage of skills and sources of income.

But the problem has arisen in underdeveloped countries, where education is still considered as a business and is not compatible with modern technology. There is not enough source of income for the increasing population and there is a lack of skilled workers as per the demand. Knowledge should increase regularly, if the increase in knowledge stops, you will have to struggle in the future, this is natural. You are wise, but your son/daughter will be wiser than you. Because the era will change and knowledge will also change, the main thing is to be able to adapt. The past is always memorable, the past is better than the present and the future, maybe it is different for some people.

For the fact that making money from those countries was easy didn't mean that anyone who had the opportunity to travel to those countries eventually made lots of money. Yeah, money had value then such that even with few bucks that you make, you can be able to get something tangible out of it. I don't think anything has changed much now because what is making it look as if people work more and earn less is as a result of inflation which has made it difficult for money to have economic value. Those days people still had skills they used in making money but because their money could afford them a whole lot of things made it seem like making money was easy.

Earlier, those who went to developed countries for work would definitely have had more opportunities. At that time, there was a shortage of workers. People would go for work and get jobs. Population is increasing day by day, and the governments are not improving in almost all sectors, some of the government stick to the firmer plan to run a country where the population has doubled, it is not possible, but in develop countries, they do try their best to make provision for everything as they know that the population is growing, they try to make changes when inflation comes in order to cover up with the expense while in underdeveloped countries with bad government, the older facilities and ways to sustain their citizens are not right and the population keeps growing, then what do you expect?

You have to know that times has changed, if you check the population of your country you can guess that it was only possible in those days. Times has changed now and that is the truth about it, we can't get back those days again because if you recalled back then you will find out that, the government had little pressure in providing the basic necessities to her citizens.

In those days inflation rate was at it's lowest, and even the budget of the state can comfortably cater for the citizens by making sure that government creates a working environment, by providing jobs creating social intervention programs. Nowadays, we need all of those things, a degree, skills, connections, etc. to improve our chances of getting a better paying job. At the same time, we should remember the struggles people faced in the past that we don't have to deal with today, such as limited access to education and healthcare. Sometimes, because we're struggling to earn enough money life in the past can seem better. But people back then probably wished they had the advanced technology and conveniences that we have today.

This problem of employment is not only due to the growth of population but also in our time it is easily illuminated everywhere in the light of education. Today the education rate is much higher than before. So at that rate employment are very few and getting a job has been challenging.

I myself have heard many stories about the past. But I think now we should not remember those golden days because everyone should be realistic. Interestingly, the respect that educated people of the past received, no one gets that honor now.
