Hello everyone,
Stablecoins have become one of the most important innovations in the cryptocurrency industry. By combining blockchain technology with price stability, they offer a practical solution for everyday payments and international transfers.
Why are stablecoins growing so fast?
Fast transactions with quick settlement.
Lower fees compared to many traditional payment methods.
24/7 availability without banking hours.
Easy access for users around the world.
Greater efficiency for cross-border payments.
As adoption continues to increase, more businesses and payment providers are integrating stablecoins into their services. They help reduce costs while making global transactions faster and more accessible.
Although regulations are still evolving, stablecoins are already playing a significant role in digital finance and are expected to become even more important in the coming years.
What do you think?
Will stablecoins become the standard for international payments?
Which stablecoin do you trust the most, and why?
I look forward to hearing your opinions and experiences.

Which stablecoin do you trust the most, and why?
The stable coins are backed by fiat. What if they got depegged? There are times that I use the stable coins, but I do not trust anyone among them. There have been some fiat collateralized stable coins that got depegged this year and they will not be the last ones.

Another things is that the stable coins are centralized.

The most common one which is USDT is even having regulatory issues.

Will stablecoins become the standard for international payments?
I receive payments for my services in stablecoins more often, so I believe this method still meets the majority of global needs, displacing fully centralized conventional methods like PayPal, Revolut, and the like.

People rarely hold stablecoins for long periods, so it is not a matter of trusting the stored value; what matters is seamless transactions.

That being said, stablecoins that got routinely audited, passing the legal compliance such as MICA, and lastly backed by real reserve rarely suffer depegging.
Almost all coins that got depegged this year, or even in 2025 are synthetic stablecoin with delta neutral strategy or CDP with thin liquidity.

I'd still trust stablecoin but only to select ones that genuinely backed by real reserve not some random synthethic overcollateralized fugazi. The biggest problem maybe the blacklisting.

To be fair though, some of the best features that stablecoin have such as 24/7 availability, fast transaction, and easy access are inherent to cryptocurrency, that benefit exist because the underlying network where stablecoin runs thanks to the "volatile" cryptocurrency for making it happen.

Will stablecoins become the standard for international payments?
I doubt it, will because stablecoin is issued by private company, only bank issued stablecoin or in otherword CBDC may have the chance, right now stablecoin barely make up 1% of international payment.

Stablecoins do offer certain utilities that are sought out by the traders who are trying to make a profit on exchanges but they also have a lot of disadvantages that make them very risky things to use.

For example they are centralized mostly and your funds could be frozen by the centralized authority. In fact one of the reasons why these companies have been evading regulations is because they will have to freeze more funds in the future compared to before and that will kill them.

In addition to that, they all claim to be pegged to some fiat and backed by some assets but nobody can know for sure. Most probably many of them are scamming their users and are running some sort of fractional reserve banking crap where they only have a tiny portion of their coins backed by real fiat and the rest are being printed out of thin air. That means if some day "shit hits the fan" that 1:1 swap rate that they promised could drop so rapidly you wouldn't be able to press the sell button fast enough.

Yes, if the world will going to accept a particular crypto coin for international payment, it should be stablecoin. Bitcoin is good and the first crypto but can't be used for global payment system because of its price fluctuations characteristics. I do see post on the forum where seller having problem with buyer for sending bitcoin that suddenly gets decreased in value, making the seller feel cheated.

So these hype of using Bitcoin as a global acceptable payment crypto is not achievable, gonna create chaos, true.

The greater the belief in the value of stablecoins in the long term, the greater their risks. They are settlement tools or for completing transactions, and you are not supposed to keep large quantities of them or in the long term. whoever uses it to conduct transactions or receive salaries is not supposed to keep it for a long time, otherwise withdrawing to cash or Bitcoin is the best option.

That's why the GENIUS Act was introduced. Unfortunately, it hasn't officially taken effect yet, and we have to wait until 1/2027 before using stablecoin become safer.
Stablecoins are centralized, but fiat is centralized too, and we still use it. So why should we be afraid of stablecoin just because they are centralized?

In reality, people are still hesitant to use stablecoins because the regulations aren't in effect yet and the risks are still significant, not because they are centralized. When it comes to payment method, people care more about convenience, fees, and speed than privacy.

Will stablecoins become the standard for international payments?
It will. We have so many companies adopt stable coin as a part of their payment or settlement solution. So it's likely stable coing becoming one of future international payment consider how cheap its transaction and big its liquidity. Don't see how big companies worked in the payment gateway such as Visa and Mastercard are also adopted it?
So it's likely it's just the matter of time until it will be adopting world wide.

Beside that look at the chart to see how stable coin supply is steadily growing. So we can expect this to surpass 1 trillion of supply in the next decade.

Which stablecoin do you trust the most, and why?
USDC by Circle, reason? They're quite transparent and fully licensed.

Stablecoins should be used to pay for transaction fees and nothing more or to gamble with in casinos but keeping them in your wallet is a big risk because they can be frozen in your wallet. We have heard of how Tether froze some USDT in customers wallet and that means that your USDT in your wallet isn't safe because it can be freeze any time. It's better to keep your funds in fiat that the stablecoin is pegged to instead of holding stablecoins.

Another things is that the stable coins are centralized.

The most common one which is USDT is even having regulatory issues.

The difference between stablecoin and fiat is that, in USD, we have the US government that backs it; love them or hate them, they are the US government, and there is no way they are going to go away soon. However, USDT is backed by a company, nothing more; some dude at the top being a CEO. Tomorrow, they could be jailed, and you would never know. You think people assumed ENRON was a scam? They thought it was great, and now we look at the situation as how obvious it was. You think Bernoff was someone who people thought was a scammer? Dude literally stole 60 billion dollars because of it.

So overall, when we are talking about something like this, we are talking about things you could never predict beforehand. There were many cases of stuff like this before where a company looked like they were very trustworthy and gained the trust and confidence of people all the time, and in return we have seen them fail and fail all the time. So if you think that this one will be much better and far greater than you are only fooling yourself. There could always be something that could go wrong with a company, not with a government. The USA is not going to get a coup or anything, not soon at least, whereas a company could always go bankrupt.

Yep, for some reason people always forget about biggest disadvantage of stablecoin which are counterparty risk, and company insolvency. They thought stablecoin is currency but it can't be further than that, stablecoin is an IOU, a form of debt, it was never recognized as a legal tender, and never a currency. The chance of the company going bankrupt, become insolvent, and don't honor redemption at par is significantly higher than US government going away.

Stablecoin is usable for ordinary transactions, even reaching up to millions, but when a company don't want counterparty risk, they will not choose stablecoin. They will prefer direct fiat transfer and payments. Even with GENIUS Act, it still doesn't change the fact that stablecoin is still just an IOU.

USDT and USDC stablecoins aren't much better than bank money because they can be frozen by the issuer at any time. They're more convenient than bank payments, but they carry all the risks of a centralized issuer. Stablecoins like DAI are developing very slowly and are subject to depeg risks.

I believe that stablecoins are the most frequently used cryptocurrency and the reason is because they are considered to be stable, many crypto holders would rather hold their coins for profit and use stablecoins for their day to day transactions because they are not volatile like crypto coins. People who likes to spend their cryptocurrency are more comfortable to spend stablecoins despite all the risks that comes with them, they are centralized which means they can be frozen, they are no different from spending fiat except that they are in crypto form. I see the spending of stablecoins increasing more than Bitcoin in the near future and it is already happening, Bitcoin would overtake them sometime in the future but because it is seen more as a store of value than digital currency to spend, stablecoins like USDT and USDC will continue to dominate for a very long time.

One thing that will prevent you from using it: it is centralised. Stablecoins, whatever you are using, are owned by companies and if you want to trust them, then yes, all those benefits are great compared to fiat. But if you do not trust those companies, which I do not, then you are not going to use them at all. I personally have seen Tether and how it is managed. Go to YouTube and search for Tether, and you are going to see even their office, and also interviews with their founders and CEO as well, and you will realise why you should not be putting up your money in USDT at all.

I do not mean like payment stuff; if you want to use it ONLY for payments, then I am fine with that. You get USDT and send it all under 1 minute so you never hold it, then I think I can accept that. But I would not see this as something that would be great if we are talking about something that is getting to a point where you are holding USDT for long periods of time. There are people with millions of it; that makes no sense.

You write about crypto users' personal preference for stablecoins, but if you look at global payments statistics, the share of stablecoins in this sector is less than 1%. Due to country-specific restrictions and the lack of clear global regulation, this service will develop slowly. The adoption of stablecoins on the global stage will depend on the policies of large international players.

But even if those stable coins only have small share, but actually this coin solve the problems on which the banks struggle to take action. That low cost transfer and instant settlement it the one make stable coins ideal to use with  online transfers and for other transactions.

If it happens that many jurisdictions open their doors for stablecoins. The businesses or local merchants would provably adopt and will try to cope with the demand or use the current famous method used by lots of people in the world.

Develops slowly to what direction?

There's no such thing like "global regulation" other then FATF members agreeing on same rules, and reason for stablecoins being not allowed in some regions is specifically because of existing "global regulations" set by other countries for them.

Reason they aren't widely being adopted is because there's probably no other sector that has more money being hacked and stolen. Smart contracts, bridges, DEXes and privatekeys aren't safest or easiest way to handle money. That's why this sector is under 1%, not because of lack of regulations.

The rules by which the global economy operates can be called global rules, albeit with an exaggeration.
Hacks do occur in DeFi projects, but when using stablecoins for payment, the risk of being hacked is minimal. Secure solutions from well-known crypto wallet providers have long been available. One of the major risks in this ecosystem is being blocked by the token issuer.
