An anonymous player disposed of the ticket in a shop in southern Italy. They believed that it was non-payable after checking the number, so he trashed it. When the player returned home, their family reportedly pointed out that their favorite numbers had been drawn. They rushed to the shop together and discovered that the tickets had been thrown away and collected by refuse disposers.

After reading this incident, it seemed like a joke and a gross negligence of the system!
Many of you are just seeing this incident as miracle or a story of luck, hmm?
But I can see their stupidity and the bad design of lottery system behind it.

Should the display message of this lottery machine be like this? If a common person punches his ticket in machine and sees the ""Non-payable"" message, he will naturally assume that his ticket did not win, wth!

The lottery authorities should have given a message like ""Congratulations! Prize too high for retailer"". Or they could have also clearly written that ""Claim at Central Office"". Just because of the bad user interface that woman was about to lose 1 million euros in garbage, unbelievable!

This is absolutely crazy, knowing fully well that you won but can't proof it simply because your wife swept it away while cleaning the house. And at this moment, I'm just wondering how that man must have felt knowing fully well that that money was a life-changing jackpot, buy due the wife's ignorance, he is now losing it without any proof. And this incident also shows us the reason why it's always good to communicate effectively in the family as husbands and wife, because if only he had told her that ticket was a lottery ticket for a game, she never would have touched it, but since she never knew about it, she went further discarding it while thinking it was a random paper. So I think this should serve as a lesson to other lottery players.

That wouldn't be news where i live. All lotteries are tied to person buying them, not to some paper tickets. There definitely are positive sides with KYC, as back in day when KYC wasn't mandatory in here, you would have need to do KYC anyway after a win over 300 euros.

And top of that you would have only that ticket as a proof. There actually was times when people weren't cashing their jackpot wins. They had either lost their tickets or forgot they ever bought them. That's not a problem anymore.

Definitely, the waste worker will be compensated that saw the ticket since, it has been announced. He is very lucky to get back his ticket which means that his luck didn't pass him by.

I know of someone that lost his own ticket and couldn't find it, that was how he lost his big win. Your win comes when you least expected it.

This is why it is good to sometimes exercise an atom of patience in whatever you do. If that man had exercised patience maybe had gone home with it, this whole stress these refuse company and workers had undergone would not have taken place but anyways, he should count himself lucky because if they had trashed it into the main refuse at the dumpsite, it would have been a difficult one for them because they would need to pass through protocols before been granted access to do anything there as it could result to pollution and who knows if the ticket would have fermented before they access the dumpsite after the long process to doing so.
He should count himself lucky and also be able to show some appreciation to the refuse company and staff that helped in the search of the ticket.

After the player made contact with the refuse company, the bin lorry was located, and luckily its contents were not compacted for disposal. After a two-day search, the winning ticket was reportedly found by a waste worker, with the workers cheering as if they had won the prize themselves.

The lottery winner had signed a declaration promising to cover the search costs. I also hope he gives the waste workers a big tip.

No one can say when someone's luck opens. Here, the person who neglected his luck and left his ticket in the garbage bin became the winner. In fact, no one can say when a person's luck opens. But it was very good to hear that the ticket was found. If the ticket had not been found and had melted in the garbage dump or had been mixed with the water in the garbage dump and had not been understood, then perhaps his luck would have been very bad. Here, the sanitation workers who work in the garbage dump were very happy to get the ticket. They should have been even happier because a very big winning prize was hidden here and they found it and they would not have been very happy just to find the ticket, any person would have been happy if they had found this ticket. However, nothing should be neglected and this lesson should be learned from here.

You better don't share this story with James Howells, the guy who disassembled a laptop and threw away 8,000 BTC on his hard drive. They are worth half a billion dollars now and while this is a different story, this glimpse of hope he must be reading between the lines in those stories are probably very brutal for him. He was so desperate that he wanted to buy that landfill for quite some money, but nobody was willing to cooperate with him. He must probably have a lump in his throat when he sees stuff like this with a happy ending.

It is very hard for you to discover people with such integrity like the waste bin keeper, and I hope that he got recognized even at this place of work just as this incident go to published across the world, many people like this to be honest in everything they do, I'm not those who will be willing to take advantage of your rights, even though the gambler is at fault, but it shows true integrity as a bin worker.
There is indeed some level of honesty here, but we should not rate it all that way, since the worker did not just find the ticket on his own, but a report for the search was already filed but from the story, the joy which the worker who found it had and was rejoicing is what impressed me the most as it's also a sign of helping his follow man to be able to claim his own reward, at the end of the day the crew who help search for it will be rewarded.

Are there still sincer people in this generation that will see people's property and still return it back to the owner, it is very rear mostly when it involves money. Many won't let it go ones the tick enters there hands they won't let go off it. I think luck shine in him to have let the worker the to see it and pick it, wch makes it more difficult to see and. What is your will always come to you. No need to disturb on anything.

The lottery winner had signed a declaration promising to cover the search costs. I also hope he gives the waste workers a big tip.
If he didn't confirm the draw the ticket would have been cashed out by the waste worker. My problem is how it crossed the mind of waste worker to check a random ticket on the ground and found out that it was an ticket. This kind of things rarely happens in real life and to think that the guy had actually taken his time to search for the lost ticket was a luck for him. Some people might just give up when they find out that the trash had already been moved out. On thing to learn from here is that be patient with certain things. It won't kill a fly if he had kept the ticket in his pocket and left it at home. Though doing that to all random ticket his gets would fill his home with so many of such.
True, because if you're one of those waste workers, you wouldn't waste time to pick those trash one by one so a small ticket will not be noticed for sure. But then again, when luck works, even the most impossible thing becomes possible, and that makes the winner really lucky because the ticket was still returned  to him.

Patience is a virtue. Although its not actually real applicable with lottery tickets you have been stacking in your pocket, but somehow don't just throw immediately your tickets because its already a waste of keeping, take time to check first, and check the lucky lottery numbers first before throwing them in the trash bin. This is not really hard to do in my honest opinion.

This news made the headlines this week, but I never paid so much attention to the details. Congratulations to the winner, and also to the company and those employees who found it. Let's say it was a mining search/exercise, so the winner of the lottery has to pay handsomely for it.

And if anyone is saying they were happy when the workers found it, it's practical; their effort was not futile and it would yield something in their pocket. What that would yield can't be small, though it wasn't disclosed. This is why we should always be patient and confirm things before we conclude. What if he had destroyed it out of anger or worse?

He wasn't lucky just once, but twice. He was incredibly fortunate that the lottery ticket remained in the waste collection and was found by the waste worker. Otherwise, he would have lost it and suffered a tragic fate.
This is why you shouldn't jump to conclusions so quickly. There's nothing wrong with keeping the lottery ticket for a while, but he was in such a hurry to throw it away. Fortunately, the waste worker found it. He should compensate the waste worker appropriately, even if it meant giving him tens of thousands of euros for helping him find it.

Strangely the best job I had was where I felt I could be helping someone everyday, how is this not a feature of every job for every worker is a mystery.  Many people feel like the ancient Greek fable of Sisyphus  rolling a boulder up a hill only to have it reverse and be repeated as a task the next day; all their efforts a waste of time bar the meagre wages.   Or maybe he just promised them a cut or a reward for any success, that'd make sense too but for rubbish workers I imagine such a story was great for them Smiley

But they could easily pocket a small paper even if a search was filed. I think the workers did a great job here, whether there's honesty or not. In this era when the economy is down and people are having problems financially, it's difficult to find people who are ready to sacrifice a big amount of money in exchange for nothing.

The owner of the ticket could just take the ticket back and not give anything to them, but thankfully he did not. He will give them something from the winning amount, which will probably give those workers some hope that being honest can be a good thing too.

This shows the good character and pure hearts of the cleaning workers. They were overjoyed when they found the card as if they were the winners of the prize. Therefore, they truly deserve respect and appreciation, and they deserve to receive a large reward for their honesty and effort in finding the card.

This player is twice lucky: once when he won the grand prize and again when he managed to find it after it was lost. The joy of finding the lost card is twice as great as the joy of knowing that it is the lucky card for the first time.

The pain of losing a lottery ticket by a few numbers is actually not one that many are able to handle. So they rush in anger throwing away their tickets and get away with it quickly in order to not have a thought of what has happened having come very close to winning. It may really not work that way, many people are impatient and want to get away with their tickets trash immediately. Luck was just on this guy and that was why he was able to retrieve the ticket back and this can happen to anyone. For such to even happen now, it calls for more people to be patient and not rush into conclusively discarding their tickets when they face a loss in lottery.

Lottery in Waste collection, that sounds way too similar to some Hollywood movie script rehashed over years.

Lottery tickets winning numbers are often checked by the owners not once or twice but multiple times. Often they will store it as well and not dump it hoping something good comes of it. Even after all this if the numbers are wrong, its just bad luck. But it is not so common to throw it away.

Seriously speaking, its a nice story but I wonder how many people who are drooling over getting rich quickly will use this story to justify buying stacks of lottery tickets from this.

After the player made contact with the refuse company, the bin lorry was located, and luckily its contents were not compacted for disposal. After a two-day search, the winning ticket was reportedly found by a waste worker, with the workers cheering as if they had won the prize themselves.
Wow, a very lucky story that seems to be true at least on the surface we can't be sure unless they give proof after they claim the money. In recent years we have had all kinds of fraudulent people claim they had huge amounts of Bitcoin or other kind of winnings such as lottery wins and that they have throw them away by accident to get some fame, and then they use that fame to try to cheat people off of money or do other things like that. Sometimes in the real world stories do have a happy ending, but it was also because they reacted in time. If they had discovered it many days or weeks later, then the chance of recovery would be very low.

The lottery winner had signed a declaration promising to cover the search costs. I also hope he gives the waste workers a big tip.

That is a must, and he should be endlessly thankful to God, or to life or whatever he believes in. These things happen very rarely in life, and even more rarely when you actually throw away the whole thing by mistake.

Which part exactly would this be promoting getting rich quickly? It is not in any way manipulating people, and it is not different from a normal lottery winner from that regard. It is just one that misplaced his ticket by mistake, and found it. It has nothing to do with getting rich quickly. These stories do exist even if this one may not be true, we can't be sure without added proof. That is why I don't like those stories that just claim a fortune was lost because we can't prove it, but a case like this can be proven if the person really wants to do it. In the past when there have not been centralized registries of asset ownership everywhere, people have lost valuable papers in crazy quantities. You would be surprised how much value is lost by people all the time, look it up.

What is in persons mind when he play lottery and throw away his ticket before finding out result or makes check if he has won without paying proper attention? In addition he also inform his family about numbers he has picked, but still threw away his ticket. This person must be blessed with luck because everyone except him did all or something for him to get that million. Family identified he has won, garbage company stopped their recycle work, employees found ticket for him.
