Patience is a virtue. Although its not actually real applicable with lottery tickets you have been stacking in your pocket, but somehow don't just throw immediately your tickets because its already a waste of keeping, take time to check first, and check the lucky lottery numbers first before throwing them in the trash bin. This is not really hard to do in my honest opinion.

The pain of losing a lottery ticket by a few numbers is actually not one that many are able to handle. So they rush in anger throwing away their tickets and get away with it quickly in order to not have a thought of what has happened having come very close to winning. It may really not work that way, many people are impatient and want to get away with their tickets trash immediately. Luck was just on this guy and that was why he was able to retrieve the ticket back and this can happen to anyone. For such to even happen now, it calls for more people to be patient and not rush into conclusively discarding their tickets when they face a loss in lottery.

Well, i guess the player is incredibly lucky, after winning the lottery which is luck in itself, he threw away that luck but yet it came back to him. It latched onto him like some leech screaming, “today is your lucky day!” lol.

Anyway, i’m happy for this lucky guy. This is truly a beautiful story. As so many of us here have pointed out, there’s a lesson to be learned from this: don’t always be in a hurry to trash your slip after a single confirmation, trying having multiple confirmations before drawing an affirmative conclusion.

Amazing story! I must admit, my first thought was, "What kind of rubbish you are reposting?". But then I saw that it's BBC. Well, BBC is not a tabloid, so if it's from them, it is most likely true.

Yes, I too hope this guy gives the waste workers good tips. In this case "good" means €1,000 for very one who was helping in finding the ticket, at least. In this story, I also liked the part were "non-payable" meant the prize was too high to be paid out by the shop. Brilliant.

I believe that it is on a habit especially if you are a long time lottery player. These kind of long time players is so well used to throwing tickets and just moving on so these tend of behaviour is just normal. But the story of the winning ticket that ends up on garbage disposal site is very rare and finding it and claiming it is much more incredible. It's not a story that you can hear everyday.

I'm pretty positive that the garbage employee who found the ticket miraculously would receive a good money from the winner. Given that the employee has a good faith returning the winning ticket.

It would have been nicer to know how much did he won and then how much he paid to the worker who found the lottery ticket.
Incidents like this are rare to happen. Luckily the person go the lottery ticket thus making him eligible to claim the lottery.

Too quick to give up, this is people for you but at the same time I don't blame any because it can take forever for you to finally get this lucky, if you keep getting one same result everyday it becomes normal for you, so discarding the ticket away won't be hard since your mind is prepared for the failure again and again.

Sounds interesting though and a very lucky situation for the ticket victim, but the story did not tell us if he finally cashed out the money. This person happened to be a very lucky person because finding of a lost ticket that's trashed in a bin would happen in a rare occasions. I believe this teaches him some lessons not be reckless and lose hope sometimes until the outcome is final.

The story must not contain the side of cashing the money, because everyone knows after finding the ticket the next thing they will do is to quickly cash out the money.
Yeah the person is actually very lucky to have found the ticket, I have seen a situation of lost ticket that was never found till date, so finding a ticket that was lost is a miracle, I’m happy for for them.
Yeah you are correct, the story teaches us not to be reckless and never to lose hope especially. In anything you do in life never lose hope, do your best by waiting till the final stage. Many people have lost good opportunities that would have changed their life for good because they lost hope.

In Ukraine, as far as I can tell, there are two types of lotteries left.
1. Paper tickets are sold at the cash registers in almost all stores. You take a "micro-envelope", open it, and immediately see whether you've won or not. And you get your winnings RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW.
2. There's a very small number of paper forms where you simply mark off your combinations, hand them to the operator, who scans them into a device, and you receive a receipt with the combination for confirmation. But there are VERY FEW of them.
3. You go to the state lottery website (which offers a wide variety of lotteries), place your bets, pay online, and you'll receive a "ticket" via email. After the drawing, any day within one year, you log into your account, check your ticket, and if you've won, you click the "Claim Your Winnings" button and pay the tax. That's it!
