Saw this news of a user that lost his funds on trezor after clicking on some phishing website on google sponsored ads. The user said lost their fund after clicking on a sponsored  google search result that was impersonating trezor.

The phishing  page was hosted on the google site, which tricked victims to enter their wallets recovery seed. How dumb  will people be  to enter their seed to a website?? Well, that’s what the victim must have done.
Though trezor says it’s escalating the report, and working to have the site removed, also reminds users to never enter wallets recovery seed to any website, or online form.

This is just a reminder and a warning to those that are new to wallet protection and security to be careful with clicking on ads online.

Anything that has to do with crypto wallets is not something you just come online to search on Google about or even see ads about and just click on without going directly through the official website, as times go on, we keep on seeing how incompetent Google has turned out to be over the years; they can’t carefully screen what they put out there as paid ads. All the team cares about is who pays higher and their material will be displayed on top of the front search.

Those who hold a large amount of funds in Bitcoin should be very careful. It is especially better not to use that device daily activity . That device should be used only as a Bitcoin wallet. It will be offline most of the time and will make transactions through the wallet that is used as needed. And if someone wants to hold it for investment purposes, it is better to save the seed phrase and not log it into any wallet. Buying Bitcoin from an exchange and  sending it only to the specific wallet address that was invested. And you should always refrain from clicking on any kind of link. Because scammers find to hack in various ways where many experienced people are constantly falling victim to losses. Because those who have a large amount of Bitcoin must be experienced and have been with this technology for a long time. Even after that, they have been hacked. This is an example for us to be careful and so that we can be more responsible and careful in protecting our wallet and Bitcoin assets in the future.

Shit!! This is supposed be basic knowledge for someone who holds bitcoin, why should you put your seed phrase on a website, what was his goal? Sorry for his loss. This is another reminder of how careful we need to be when dealing with things online especially with the phone we are using to hold bitcoin.
Investors should never relax on protective measures to secure their bitcoin, it should be a daily practice, something that’s always on our mind cause one moment of lapse can cause us harm.

One has to be very careful in his every day to day dealings with the ads that Google run because more have proven to be scam sites and Google do not have good provision for verifying the originality of what they advertise or even the Authenticity. Many people have lost their money due to this phishing sites. We have to be very careful and avoid revealing our seed phrase to anyone or sharing on any site. Bookmark the official sites and don't be too lazy to verify site before performing any activities that may involve your private keys. Scammers are everywhere and they are now dominating the crypto space so if you want to be safe, then you have to play safe. I don't know how effectively revoke.cash https://revoke.cash/ works but you can disconnect all the initial token approvals you have granted and revoke the permissions granted so that you can have full control of your wallet.

This story is getting me angry right now like I don't really get it, because even a little baby can barely make this kind of mistake that someone that I am sure to be an adult will make. Without being told he's supposed to have known that wasn't normal at all and to avoid it totally, not to the extent of going ahead to input his wallet details, for what if I may ask? obviously that is foolishness. Is quite painful but this will also served him well and make him understand that not everything is real, their are things that just require common sense to handle, not everything is ignorance

Those scammers somehow find means to bypass Google security check and then post those phishing links, that's why going through Google to look for a webpag can be dangerous at times because what these scammers do at times is to poison the link such that when someone clicks on it, the person will be redirected to a different website that could look exactly like the original one. I hope Google can fix that issue because they keeping giving excuses that they don't intentionally allow scammers post ads.

A bitcoiner needs to always learn about the scammers methods to always remain aware so that they won't fall victim, and also, anything relating to the security of our coins, we should be extremely careful with it.

I would have say sorry to the victims that lost their funds on trezor after clicking on some phishing website on google sponsored ads but as the phishing website requested for their wallets recovery seed and they willingly gave it out even after knowing that if someone have access to their wallets recovery seed they will lose their funds, i will not say sorry to them. How can people who knows how important wallet recovery seed is and they foolishly gave it out to a third-party, they are the reason why they lost their funds and they should take responsibility for their loss.

It’s so sad to be hearing such news here and there. It’s not up to one week that we had if wallet hack that many people lost their Bitcoin to a wallet that claimed to be a non-custodial wallet, and now another Bitcoin holder lost Bitcoin to scammers, it’s sad, but I think these people need to be extra careful and need to upgrade their knowledge of wallet security.
The phishing  page was hosted on the google site, which tricked victims to enter their wallets recovery seed. How dumb  will people be  to enter their seed to a website?? Well, that’s what the victim must have done.

It is always good to go to every wallet’s official website to download their wallets, using the google search engine is risky when it comes to wallet because scammers are everywhere trying to clone almost every wallet they see, they will clone the wallets to the extent that if you are not careful, you will think it is the original domain, and that’s how so many people lose their Bitcoin to scammers. Let’s be careful and always use the official websites to download wallets.

It's unfortunate what some of the trusted search engines like Google has become in recent times there has being much introduction of phishing links allowed into the Google. It's as though they have now prioritize profit more ahead of rendering quality clean products and services. Because some of the ads link I find on Google nowadays is questionable, and to think that Google gives room for these links to even appearing at the front top of a search prompt cancels trust in the company.

Another thing is that Google depends on reports to taking down any malicious site, so when we find such sites it's also gonna be helpful to report it immediately. A good and secure practice is touching down on the official URL of any site you wanna visit to avoid falling victim to clone sites by scammers

I hope Google can fix that issue because they keeping giving excuses that they don't intentionally allow scammers post ads.
This is exactly what they keep on saying all the time while people keep on losing millions to all this scammers overtime. Hence is no longer funny because if this persist then people will have no choice than to start asking sensitive questions that google itself wouldn't be able to answer, so it's better they fix this before it get out of hands.

Offcourse, being a perfect investors or a successful investors shouldn't be sticked on just how you can be able to accumulate and hold for long but also how you can protect your assets from been stolen away from you by scammers. Let the obligation of protecting your assets also be put into consideration because if their is no assets in your portfolio their is no way you can still be addressed as an investor so it's also important we look towards that direction

Google should be able to identify fake websites from the original ones at this point in time, I don’t believe in their so called excuses, this has been happening for quite a while now and they still haven’t changed..

This is another reason why you need due diligence as an investor that has anything to do with online investment because you can’t really trust any website or search engines, you should confirm from the official website of whatsoever wallet you’re using and again “Never give your Seed phrase to any website”.

I suppose many investors are already familiar with how crypto thefts are being conducted using phishing attacks and social Engineering, it could be easily avoided and people need to understand the responsibility of keeping the Seedphrase safe.

Google can promote anything so long as you pay for advertising on their platform. Many people are victims of this thing because Google promotes fake sites once they get paid. Unfortunately, many people still believe that all adverts on the Internet are legit. Immediately after any user clicks on those ads and provides any important information, the scammers get all the information and use it to do whatever they want. I believe that this is not the first time that this has been happening. Unfortunately, it will continue to happen so long as people are not open to learning and becoming vigilant based on how these scammers operate on the Internet.

It’s so sad to be hearing such news here and there. This is just the simple truth, all crypto users should be extra careful on the Internet because there are so many fake wallets and exchanges out there. If people are careful on the Internet, they will know that clicking random links through Google search is not safe at all because there are so many scam methods out there that they are not aware of. I just hope that this serves as a warning to other people who must have found this information on Twitter so that they too will be careful.

This kind of hack has been existing for ywta years and that had led to huge loses from crypto investors. It is our duty to make sure that we don't click on anyhow link online due to so many phishing links that had made big investors to lose money due to mistakes.

This is just a reminder and a warning to those that are new to wallet protection and security to be careful with clicking on ads online.

Google ads has been responsible for most crypto hack and I don't know why Google is not doing anything about it especially using their bots to crosscheck most of the crypto ads they are running. Innocent investors will continue to.lose their money to scammers that are running these ads.

I'm just wondering why a Trezor wallet user would paste his seed phrase on an online website. As far as I know, the only people who use hardware wallets are those who want to keep their funds very secure. The main purpose is for them not to have to store their funds on any online device. But it turns out he did the exact opposite. Maybe he is new to hardware wallets and doesn't know much about it.
Maybe he learned about hardware security from his friend, but he doesn't know why people use hardware wallets.

What a terrible mistake and loss at the same time. Lately exploitations are beginning to occur as a result of google inability to properly vent projects and web on their platform before putting them up for ads and their Play store.
If I may ask, is the victim a newbie in the industry that he would fall so easily for such phishing scam via website? Ordinarily anything website that requests for sed phrase is a scam. No genuine wallet website would demand for your information via ads on Google.
Wallets all have their genuine website where one can download their mobile App to create a a wallet and use for storing their assets.
It is unfortunate that he had made such a mistake but there was opportunity for him to have asked questions for clarity if the website is a genuine one before processing with whatever he wanted to do at least it could have saved him this mistake he had made.
This is a lesson for those who are too quick to click on add without doing a proper verification to ascertain if what they are dealing with is real.
Google should make sure to always verify apps and website in other to avoid repeated issues of scam and hack through their carelessness of not conducting die diligence before approving apps and adds for advertising.

I will also not say sorry to them because this has to be the most nieve thing to do, I think if scammers see that people can be this gullible they will always continue to keep trying to scam more people.
Your recovery seed phrase can't be demanded by anyone that doesn't want to scam you.
Well if we can't feel sorry for them then we should at least spread this type of information more so that this sort of nieve attitude won't keep on prevailing.

This is very sad to hear, I just wounder how somebody of that caliber with knowledge of scam be so dumb to connect a cold wallet to a scam hot wallet, knowing the risk involved. I believe anyone who is using trezor should be a guru in security, but perhaps he has loseguaded. This is to remind us that no one is perfect when it comes to security, because scammers are becoming smarter and may use another strategy that makes you think it's safe when it is not. Anyone can fall a victim but when we see that something is becoming too real to be true, you should stop and ask questions to someone you think knows better than you. Sometimes we get glued to the system and we keep activating something that gives us option to chose between yes and no. sometimes we often don't want to be borders to be reading everything so we just agree to everything that pops up just to do quick and go to the next and in the process we don't know what we have agreed. Only when we lose something important that we know we have messed up. I think we should be very very careful when dealing with online stuff because this days you can't spot the difference between fake and real site.

Saw this news of a user that lost his funds on trezor after clicking on some phishing website on google sponsored ads. The user said lost their fund after clicking on a sponsored  google search result that was impersonating trezor.
This is an avoidable mistake that could’ve been learned from other peoples stories and experiences, but then the Uzor has learned from personal experience and would henceforth be very wary of suspicious links. The user would also be an evangelist sharing his own experiences to others who would most assuredly not listening because they think it will not happen to them.
