That's right. If an investor buys Bitcoin and the market unexpectedly crash, it is still considered as paper loss as long as the investor did not sell his holdings. The value may be decreased, but the investor still holds the same amount of Bitcoin he initially purchased. If the time that the market has finally able to recover, those paper loss will be changed to potential profit.

idk what kind of investment case someone loses in bitcoin except trading it in the future. When the goal is investment then I dare to guarantee that in bitcoin it is 100% profit and 0% loss as long as you keep it safely hold it firmly, consistently and patiently.
Whether you like it or not investing in bitcoin is the most sensible investment, just use the halving format to make it easier to understand. But back again that investing in bitcoin loss it's when you buy at the highest price and sell at the lowest price.

I mean, it was depressing for sure if you lose a huge amount of money in cryptocurrency investment, but if you're going to think about it, you are already aware that you might lose money in crypto, you lose because it was your mistake you bet too high, you put a huge lot of money into something that you don't really understand or dont have knowledge, because I realize a lot of thing through my years of investment, It never actually hurt me if I lose money into crypto to the point where I might not recover because from the very start I already know and realize what im going in to. Bitcoin is a risk investment stuff, even though it was a safer investment than other high risk high reward token in the market, the volatility was high compared to other assets. So losing money was already a thing, so why in the first place you are going to put money that you can't afford to lose right.\

In my opinion, this is just all about discipline and not giving up. I mean, for sure you need to be disciplined in order to keep in going, but having the knowledge and knowing how things work, you could easily figure out that you might lose a lot here, why invest in memes? Why invest in other crypto projects without even thinking and saying that you lose a lot of money in crypto? I think this is more like a gambling problem for most investors, are were just getting hype, but people who earn a lot on Bitcoin think that it was easy. It wouldn't even get to the emotions if you already know it.

Unless those that are trading on future market, you can't lose money from bitcoin investment or even trading in the spot market, f you see that the price you bought your bitcoin have become higher than bitcoin current price, and you see your total USD amount to be less than initial, what you need to do is to keep holding your bitcoin until the price will recover and put you even in profits again.

For sure, it means for traders, because there’s no way we lose bitcoin in a normal investment unless theres some negligence on our end or we made a poor decisions along the way. But if it’s  pertaining to investment only, that means they lost using trading. I agree with you that btc is the best choice for long term crypto investment because of its stability and long term potential..As long as you have a good financial investment strategy, proper risk management, and a planned exit point, you can lessen any unnecessary losses and prevent in making any wrong decisions especially during market volatility.

This is where we traders miss it, losses come with a story to tell, a teaching that should help in making you & me become a better trader.. but instead we chose to cry over it , feel sad about it & all the negative energy that comes with a loss, wrong choice!! I don't think you can lose all your money on Bitcoin if truly you an investor that is buying and holding for long. The only way you can lose everything is if you are trading it in the derivative or futures market or better still you invested in shit coin. I agree with you that giving up after some discouragement is not the best, because those that made it far in Bitcoin investment or in trading are failures that tried more times without giving up, but even at that, you should know that you cannot just lose everything if you hold your Bitcoin, unless you try to trade it, and it goes against you.

This has really kills so many people mindset towards investing in Bitcoin, because after putting onces hope to get something and it ends up not working after, it really changes one mentality towards giving a try again.

People that gives up easily are mostly those with high expectations of getting rich very quick through Bitcoin, and when what they are seeing is not going in line with what they expected, they will fastly call it a quit because it's a waste of time to such person.

Bitcoin is for the long-term, you only loose when you panic sell below your entry point within the short-term. Traders are the only ones who encounter such losses. For a real investor the discipline needed is to maintain his consistency in accumulating more bitcoin with his discretionary income and not to sell in a short while.

Even if the prices reduce, the quantity of bitcoin in the wallet remains the same and with time the prices would recover and surpass your entry point. Most people lack the patience to wait long enough before cashing out and that is the reason they encounter losses repeatedly. Like a lot of people have already reiterated, loses are for bitcoin trades or those that use leverages but for investors you will always make profit, I think the only time I was weighed down by emotions for an action I tagged as a lose was some years back when I thought I was a bitcoin investor, after being on hodl for some time I panic sold immediately after the halving, although I made some profit but the emotions I felt was disappointment because I could have still held on and made more profit. That experience taught me how to control my emotions and seek more knowledge.

People can still lose their Bitcoin to investment and not just in trading futures from carelessness and then some other little mistakes that could be avoided. For instance people can lose their Bitcoin by losing access to their wallets and never being able to recover it. Some people can lose their Bitcoin by trusting someone else too much with too much details about their wallets that they have their investments moved away and stole from them, People can also lose their Bitcoin to scammers online and all these can all constitute a negative emotion that can build up making you to disappointed to the extent that you're willing to quit trying to invest again in Bitcoin. This is the exact emotions that the OP is saying you should not allow to weigh you down.

If you lost your bitcoins, it could be from several mistake types: trading stupidly and greedily especially with margin and futures together with high leverages. Don't use stop loss order or stop limit order for your trading positions in either spot, margin, futures markets.

It could be from using bitcoin as investment capital into altcoin projects, meme tokens, basically they are shitcoins and shit tokens which only take money from you.
Another reason could be related security.

People who lost their bitcoins must learn from their losses, and improve their practice from investment, security to avoid trading.

Some bad practice from people who lost their bitcoins is changing themselves and becoming scammers just to get more bitcoins and cover their losses. Examples are VIP members, donators and people like Roger Ver.
