That's why I said from the get go, the cycle is anchored around the halving. That mechanism triggers a reaction in investors that influences the demand and supply curve of Bitcoin, and since the mechanism is periodically within a specific time frame, the supply and demand curve happens in the same way in a cycle-like manner.
I know what hypothesis and theory are, but I won't relate them to this because, brother, I know halving is the main catalyst here. I invest according to the halving. Like right now, we are in a bear market. As a matter of fact, the 2024 halving started the bull run earlier, but that's just some delays, which can happen, as the market is not completely obeying the halving timings. It has to follow the current demand and supply. Like ETFs were the biggest hype before the 2024 halving, that's why Bitcoin made an all time high before the halving, but previously it never made an ATH before the halving event. It always made it after.

So things can change, or be early, or can be delayed. It all matters on the current demand and why the demand has increased or decreased.

We always need a catalyst, and halving is one of them. We always need another as well, especially for the bear market.

It is worth noting that the market is affected by a lot of different things which is why sometimes the 4-year cycle trend doesn't look like working. For example like the past 4-5 years, basically ever since the COVID pandemic that destroyed global economy and brought recession with it. Recession prevented the cycle from completing and getting big like previous times otherwise price would have been $400k right now after having dropped from a much higher level...
Do you really think, if the pandemic had not happened, BTC's price would have touched $400k? To be honest, I don't think it could have, because due to the pandemic, many people came to the freelancing world and started hearing about BTC, and it became a choice for many people because they came to know about it, so they must have invested as well once their financial situation got better! It had good impact on the economy in the long run but maybe bitcoin's target new all time high of 2024 would have been better if there would be no pandemic or wars.

Halving doesn't technically create scarcity, and when we talk about mining and block reward we are talking about new supply being created and injected into circulation. To put simply the supply is actually rising.
To clarify: what creates "decreased supply" is not the total supply that is decreasing, it is the coins that are being sold on the market by the miners that is decreasing by 50%. That decreasing supply alongside the rising demand (adoption is growing) helps the price rise in that 4-year cycle.

P.S. Isn't the correct term "deflationary" instead of "disinflationary" for Bitcoin?
Haha yep, the correct term is deflationary. Probably English is not his first language. Anyway, you have made it extra clear what is actually happening, how halving itself could be bad if the adoption is decreasing, because in alts we fear new token supply, but in BTC we don't fear it because we have this mindset that the demand is increasing, and whatever the new supply is going to be, it will be a good thing as demand is increasing, and on the other hand, supply is reduced than before.

After the FUD or those bad news fades, maybe we will see Bitcoin again prepare for possible much bigger trend.

So, do you believe the news is the driving force behind the trends?

That's why I said from the get go, the cycle is anchored around the halving. That mechanism triggers a reaction in investors that influences the demand and supply curve of Bitcoin, and since the mechanism is periodically within a specific time frame, the supply and demand curve happens in the same way in a cycle-like manner.

Yeah that's true. The adoption rate of Bitcoin expanded significantly during the ETF period. The ETF is not just a hype, it is a form of adoption. I used to think it is somewhat unfavorable to the network as a whole due to how centralized it is, but it actually brought Bitcoin to new heights in terms of adoption.

No, that's not the correct term, it is disinflationary. I later clarified on what it means, lemme quote it for you:

Quote
Deflationary in supply means that the total circulating supply is shrinking (like tokens are burned or something). At the end of the day, the 21M coins won't be what is actively circulated after it is completely mined.

Disinflationary is when the inflation of an asset is being controlled by cutting the rate in which new coins are issued or supplied (just as we have with halving).

You're right though, English isn't my native tongue, but I can speak, write, and understand English very well (although not perfect in it).

If adoption is decreasing, that will certainly be bad if at the same time demand is decreasing. Even if the rate of demand is decreasing but not less than the decrease in supply rate (disinflation), then the price won't go down.

There is no way halving can be bad. Let's say demand rate is decreasing, the halving won't save the price but it will somewhat support the rate of inflation hereby reducing the rate in which the price falls - this is called disinflation.

I think we may see another significant drop in Bitcoin’s price sometime this fall, and it would be a great opportunity to take advantage of it. There is still plenty of time before bitcoin starts gaining momentum again, so there’s an opportunity to accumulate it at a good price. However, I don’t think DCA should only be used when the price is falling. I usually use this strategy throughout the entire cycle, except for roughly a one- to two-month period when bitcoin is reaching new highs. During that period, I prefer to gradually sell some of my Bitcoin so that I can later buy back a larger amount when the price drops again.
Well, the DCA strategy for BTC is very effective because it builds solid discipline. It isn't affected by natural market dips or pullbacks. If there are dips or the price shows a slight downward trend, an investor can gradually buy, taking advantage of the lower levels to accumulate significantly more BTC without disrupting their core DCA plan.

The idea behind relentless accumulation is to capitalize on these consolidation zones. The simple fact that its ATH touched around $126K and that it's currently floating at nearly half that figure is reason enough to continue accumulating BTC for the long term.

Of course, Investor can buy Bitcoin in various ways, it depends entirely on the investor's own wishes, but DCA (dollar cost averaging) makes it easi for the investor to buy Bitcoin and hold it for the long term. The DCA strategy can always be used to buy Bitcoin, whether the price of Bitcoin fall or rise. This strategy keeps the investment in the average, so that there is no need to worry about the investment, the investment can be managed with discipline and the highest ATH of all time can be waited for very easily.

I used to think it is somewhat unfavorable to the network as a whole due to how centralized it is, but it actually brought Bitcoin to new heights in terms of adoption.
We all thought it and if you go back to the same era and read all the topics in this board you will see everyone was saying the same thing that their entry will make Bitcoin more centralized, because everyone thought the more institutions/centralized authorities are going to buy the more influence they will have on the price and that's true even because MSTR sells their coins today (if they are even able to get the liquidity) the market will dump in no time.

That dump will be a huge one but they can sell in parts and the market might not even notice because of the overall market supply and inflation (as inflation plays a role in terms of increasing the money supply).

But yes, the adoption part is true and can't be denied.

Yes I do believe it would have had a great potential to reach $400k and more without all those negative events. I am extrapolating the past performance for it. The 4-year cycles were always like this. A long accumulation phase followed by a slow rise that speeds up every month and the final phase was a short period of a massive rise to enter a bubble. That bubble peak by my calculations should have been above $400k.

Check 2017 bubble and you'll realize what I'm talking about.
The cycle's lowest price is at $150 and the accumulation phase and the slow rises last all through 2016 and the bigger rises start in 2017 until the last months the big bubble at $20k is formed. That is a 13233% rise.
The next cycle that starts in 2018 starts at the lowest price at $3100 and a similar rise should have brought the price to $410k but it's been 8 years (2 cycles) and at best price has only gone up 3900%. That's a massively shrunk rally.

I don't think that we will see a repetition of last circle halving this time because it will be difficult for bitcoin to pump above $126k without any big event that will influence the price like we had the lunch of bitcoin ETF last circle.

However, no one knows for sure if the price of bitcoin will be able to create a new ATH before the halving because the market is unpredictable and more investors and institutions will still adopt bitcoin.
Naturally, the Bitcoin 4year cycle effect will recur, and it is a more significant event in the Bitcoin space that will affect the price more than the BTC ETF you said, with a new all-time high price for the cryptocurrency. Despite this, the market's bullish trend might not be as strong as it was in some prior years because institutional investors are the main players in the BTC market, and they can manipulate the price of the crypto in several ways.

From price around $130k to $400k is about 300% ROI and I believe Bitcoin will reach $400k in next 3 or 4 market cycles or if longer 5 more market cycles. Next 12, 16 or 20 years sound like very far if we think about that now but time flies and if we look back to Bitcoin history, from 2009 to 2026, it's already 17 years. 20 years can be a long time for the elderly but for people who are young and even middle aged, they can hold and wait for next 20 years quite comfortably.

Especially if they do their investment with discretionary income and manage risk well enough.

This looks very easy to do, but actually it's difficult. Understand the risks and the mental management needed to hold on. They can't always do it well, especially young people who don't have a big reserve and purely invest for the long term. Generally, they want quick ROI, and this is a big challenge that's hard to manage. Giving advice, doing calculations, writing down multiplications is very easy in investing, but to turn it into reality we need a big struggle that not everyone can handle.

Right now I see how the market keeps evolving and it's very hard to say it's the same as the previous phase. The reason is clear: big institutions have now entered ETFs. This creates a significant difference in Bitcoin's price movements. Trading volume is split, making it really difficult to make purchases at the best moment. IMO

There won't be any problem for those who have been holding for so long. We've got different prices to be seen and targets that we're waiting for. $400k isn't impossible and if the move of bitcoin is going to be like this until the next cycle comes, there's the bigger chance that we might see that exponential growth of it. And once that price has been touched, I think it won't hurt everyone who held for a very long time to take some profits leaving a percentage of their holdings.

From price around $130k to $400k is about 300% ROI and I believe Bitcoin will reach $400k in next 3 or 4 market cycles or if longer 5 more market cycles.
Each cycle can be different. We have seen it from the last one and that's the beauty of Bitcoin that each bull run that passes by, it always creates new ATH.

Thanks for explaining it bro but I think the pandemic was not the only reason for this, like there have been many other factors as well.

Like the money that came, in 2016, when BTC was at $150, the market cap was around $2.1 billion and at the peak it was around $328 billion, the pump was enormous that time even if the market capital in 2018 increased by more numbers like by $1.22 trillion but the pump was not that much.

And to pump the BTC from $3,100 to $400k I think we needed more than $6 to $7 trillion in 2018?

That was not possible, even in the pandemic it was not possible to have that kind of money injected in BTC, the ETFs and governmental adoption opened gates for Wall Street money into BTC and that has pumped the price to $126k.

So we needed capital, and it was not there back then due to pandemic which is true that if there won't be any pandemic that people would have more purchasing power but still I don't think they would have this much purchasing power. So what do you think?

Market capitalization is mostly a meaningless number that is just produced by multiplying price with supply. It doesn't tell us much and its value does not necessarily indicate how much money is needed to come in for the price to go up.
Take the last week for example. Market cap went up about $330 billion meanwhile if we compute sum of volume in top bitcoin exchanges the total volume is roughly 400kBTC which is less than $30 billion. And that's trading volume which is larger than the amount of money that came in.

The money that needs to come in to push the price a certain percentage only depends on how packed the orderbooks are. And when price starts rising fast to newer levels never reached before, the orderbooks become thinner and rising becomes easier.

Quote
That was not possible, even in the pandemic it was not possible to have that kind of money injected in BTC, the ETFs and governmental adoption opened gates for Wall Street money into BTC and that has pumped the price to $126k.
We have been facing similar economic crisis ever since 2020 for different reasons. Back then it was recession due to pandemic but as soon as pandemic stopped and economy was improving, wars broke out and new recessions began due to instability, energy crisis, etc.

Quote
So we needed capital, and it was not there back then due to pandemic which is true that if there won't be any pandemic that people would have more purchasing power but still I don't think they would have this much purchasing power. So what do you think?
Maybe, your arguments are still valid but lets not forget that bitcoin's adoption is still small considering we have not yet reached mass adoption. With each cycle as adoption grows, more people come in. And whenever price reaches a major ATH, the media coverage acts as mass advertisement bringing in a lot more capital.

I know that and the fact which should not be ignored by any Bitcoin investor is Bitcoin investment ROI with year and cycle will become smaller with coming years and cycles. It's the fact that has been proven by many assets and many different markets, and Bitcoin will not be an exception.

With time and cycles, Bitcoin grows to have bigger market cap, higher trading volume but as a result of its growth, its ROI will naturally become smaller. That's reason why people if aiming at doubling their initial investment capital with Bitcoin will need to make their investment plan including taking profit with available holding time to even more than one market cycle.

In a next market cycle, Bitcoin might or might not make a ATH that is double of a latest market cycle, and investors have to prepare for a second scenario.

Quote
Each cycle can be different. We have seen it from the last one and that's the beauty of Bitcoin that each bull run that passes by, it always creates new ATH.
There are no market cycles the same with each other, there are always differences among cycles and even there are patterns from previous Bitcoin market cycles, we all have to prepare for something different while make sure we manage risk well enough.

But these are just short term changes. The trend still kept up with its main course for months. There is no way a trend will be smooth sailing, price will always have highs and lows in every trend. Even the Bitcoin yearly chart is in an uptrend, with Higher-Highs and Higher-Lows. If there are dips that don't reverse the trend then I feel it is normal. Well you may call it a "self-fulfilling prophecy ", I call it adhering to the timeline
That wasn't my point here, the point was that on bearish days more supply is added to the markets than all the supply that is "retired" by a halving.

My main point against the halving-driven mechanism is that it cannot really explain the bear season. It can explain the price to go continuously higher, and to keep supply limited after each halving, but you have to reccur to "extension" of the halving theory, like a "systemic tendency to extremely regular bubbles and bursts", to predict exactly these regular highs and lows we're seeing. There is absolutely no way the halving determines that there has to be a bubble top just about 1.5 years after it, always aligning with October to early December even if the halving is on a different date each time. Wink

If this were true, why are we having adoption in its ATH? I don't think people actively started selling because of Trump, we have more adoption ths year than ever.
I have not said it was only due to Trump. There were several stars that aligned: 1) the disappointment about the reserve, based on overly positive expectations, 2) the general instability after the Iran war, 3) the cycle theory prophecy, which may have been the final trigger: people tried to "save" their profits from a potential crash after the price didn't recover. If several of these news align then it's likely they will have an effect that can even compensate slightly positive "adoption" numbers and lead to a more fundamental sentiment change.

About the record adoption I would like to see numbers Smiley. In mid-2026 the number of transactions recovered from a "trough" in late 2025 (we're now again at near record levels). But there are also negative adoption-related news, like small treasury companies that went bankrupt due to the bear market (and a probably very bad investment strategy). The ETFs also lost money.

But the market was still falling even when Saylor was actively buying this year, how do we explain this?  Saylor has been accumulating since 2020 making Bitcoin his company treasury reserve, it's not like its the first bear market he had experienced.
Saylor's buys never had any major incidence in the market. He has bought in several early bear markets without being able to reverse the trend.

The Saylor sale was different. Not because of the Bitcoins sold, but because he changed his strategy completely. And that started to generate fear and doubts about his 800,000 BTC. This is much more important than the numbers. The sale was tiny.

And you said these things just cause panic and FOMO - these effects only cause temporary price change, not real trend reversal - they don't create long term sentiment and speculation in the market which can affect the trend.
As I already wrote, for the main trend reversal in late 2025 several stars aligned. And if they are able to tank the price for a certain time, then more people will start to take profits, fearing the downtrend will continue.

Why is there a massive support in the 60k area? Well, that's because of the cycle theory A.k.A the halving effect. You see how the halving influences the trend?
How is your logic here? According to the 4 year cycle logic the buy support would have to be a bit lower. Taking volatility decrease into account the current bear should tank the price around 70% compared to the previous ATH, not 55%. In all previous cycles there was also a later capitulation event after the inmediate period of stability in the mid bear market (around 6-8 months after the last ATH).

This capitulation event of course is not impossible, but it has became much less likely now, the buying support at 60k was simply too strong and now we are >75k again.

Nonetheless, the coldcard case is not just about the lost funds, it's more about the lost faith; questioning if what they believed in to be safe and secured is truly safe and secured, questioning what else isn't safe and secured out there. This simply is a catalyst for FUD.
Here I agree.

Before the coldcard case, price topped at ~67k in the daily chart. It made HH and HL to that point before it reversed and broke the structure by hitting a resistance at around 65k then made a low at around 62k - this price action is obviously a sell trend in the daily time-frame - The coldcard case didn't even cause any aggressive sell, price even went higher than the price of the day the coldcard case exploit began.
I've looked at it in Bitcoinwisdom again. There was indeed a dip below 63k before the public knowledge of the Coldcard hack but then the price first resumed the uptrend, until on July 30 the first news appeared and then the local low around 62.2k was recorded. It wasn't a big difference, yes, but it kept the price "sleeping" in that area. The 62.7k dip before the hack would have been simply a small dip.

Of course this is highly speculative, I believe however that there would have been an earlier new attempt to crack the 67k area if the Coldcard hack didn't happen. Sentiment in the community was quite bad in early August, even self-custody was been questioned.

Your view is also valid in this case, but I still stick to mine Smiley

I still believe that every time that we're in a bull season, Bitcoin will continue to create new ATHs. We haven't seen that it did stopped but, it's possible for the next cycle although my belief in it remains the same that we'll have more new ATHs that it's going to break the last ones that we have seen.

Even it goes differently on the next ones, the move of it has never changed and that it is going upwards. While it may be wholly different from last year but I'm optimistic that it will be better than that.

IMO

I can tell you these "big institutions" are the ones heavily manipulating market prices. They did it with Gold once spot ETFs were approved, and now they're doing it with Bitcoin. Therefore, we can't simply rely on the "4 years cycle" to determine Bitcoin's next ATH. That routine is simply "broken". Most likely, Bitcoin will reach a new ATH before the halving of 2028. It has already risen in price towards $80k.

At the pace Bitcoin is catching up, it might reach a new ATH soon. The next target would be $150k per Bitcoin. It may take a few more halvings before it gets all the way up to $1m. But that's another subject. At least, Bitcoin has delivered outstanding results over the long term. Compare BTC vs Gold, and you'll see which one's the winner. Just buy, "hodl", and forget about the rest.

In any case, a large adoption by institutions could very well manipulate Bitcoin prices. This affects the 4 year cycle that we always talk about. With the market adoption rate continuously increasing and Bitcoin's scarcity, this could certainly make the market move no longer following the existing cycle. But at least the 4 year cycle can be used as a plan to hold Bitcoin, even though along the way, it will surely experience changes.

What do you mean by a 4 years cycle?
The crypto market is not the same as the traditional market, where the traditional market does not have the mining reward cut cycle or halving that is commonly known in Bitcoin, but Bitcoin has a phase as rare as the past which continues to repeat itself every four years where when the time comes there is a historical Bitcoin price movement.

But it is very unfortunate, in fact we all know about the 4 year cycle that occurs in Bitcoin, but many of us always fail to maintain it when it triggers scarcity and drastic price spikes in Bitcoin and will create an All-Time High, In fact, we all don do anything so it ends up being in vain, in fact we are always talking here about Bitcoin 4 year cycle.

Bitcoin with bitcoin reward in block subsidy halved every 210,000 blocks that last about 4 years has very good factor of its cycle but with future halvings, there will be something different. With each of new halvings and market cycles, there will be more bitcoins already mined by Bitcoin miners and from Bitcoin blocks, that in other words means there will be less and less bitcoins remained for mining.

This fact potentially reduces effects from Bitcoin mining and remaining future supply, so next halvings will have very considerable less effects than previous Bitcoin halvings and market cycles. Price will still grow up and halving will still have effects but I am realistic that effects will be smaller from halvings themselves and bigger market cap of Bitcoin.
