I've tried my best, telling them how Esport is so big today but they don't just get it,  simply because they don't believe that anyone who sit and play games has no future.
Some parents still believe that you need to wake up every morning bath and dress up to go to work before they can consider you not to be doing something not lazy. They see people who sit and play games or do whatever digital job to be lazy. They don't know that we are in the digital era where you can monetize any idea and make money with it as long as you know what you are doing

Your dream was for your son to grow up and become a doctor, you've talked about it and he agreed but somewhere down the line he started a Esport Career, he started playing video games on live.

Like what the likes of Cai And other popular YouTubers are doing, what will you do? Force in to stop or disown him? Or generally just feel sad about it?
In this modern age, it is not ideal for parents to force their kids into a career that the kids may not fit into well. As long as what they enjoy doing does not negatively affect their lives, and they can still earn a good income from it, and are good at what they do.

This time, technology has made it possible for people to be relevant. You can be in the technology space and still have a career that generates a good amount of income. Unlike before, when people had to rely on careers like medicine and others, things have changed. Parents should learn to allow their children to pursue what they love because it brings out the best from what they do.

Let’s face it, they had this discussion with their child when he knew no better, when he couldn’t choose for himself or had the courage to do so. It’s a very brave thing to do to put your life on the line for a career path you don’t know who it would go. Parents being parents, they want you to live their dreams, dreams they didn’t archive themselves and then, they forget you’ve got dreams of your own.

This is the case of a family member right now, his only son out of 4 children choose to abandon doctor for online gaming streamer/ Esport Career, and the mother and father had so much hope in him until now, what would you do in this case?
Hope in him to do what exactly?
What happened to the females of the family? Aren’t they still family! I wouldn’t understand it though.

It’s not their era, they wouldn’t understand but, that’s part of the burden they’ve got to weighted with. Better they learn to live with the decision their child have learnt to make.

Some parents is not aware of online skills or Job that is why they are complaining about laziness, but in a situation like that you have to tell them so that they don't get themselves worried over nothing, because the reason why they are doing that is because they don't want Thier children to remain idol I mean doing nothing, of course every reasonable and responsible parents would want Thier children to be engaged with works or skills or anything that will profit them. However, the world is modernized to the point where we can be working from home and I think this is the best than offline jobs I find offline job very stressful.

Our parents want the best for us but they are making decisions based on their limited understanding and that is where they get it wrong. Esports is now a big career that can make you money even more than all those other well established careers that they are forcing you to do. My advice for you is for you to follow your dreams so you do not regret not making that move to do what you love. If your dreams gives you money, your parents would not be angry at you forever but will be benefiting from you following your passion and if you fail then you will learn a lesson that only personal experience will teach you and that will help you to make better life choices for yourself.

In today’s world it doesn’t really make sense for the parents to still be dictating the career path for their children. Even the least expected career could bring the most fortune for someone, so it really doesn’t matter whether they become a doctor like the parents wanted or become an expert in the Esport sector, at the end of the day all that matters is whether they can become successful in that space.

Let the boy be a boy. The word is there, esports career it is. We all have dreamt of playing while earning and it's very possible to happen right now. Left and right sponsors, pro scene and other brand deals that a streamer can have. Tell them all about ninja, a very successful streamer/gamer and he even said that in the Family Feud in front of Steve Harvey that he's a professional video game player. I guess that it will be enough for them to understand that several years ago, there's already money sitting in esports industry.

You can teach your child how to live a good and comfortable life by acquiring a good and stable job or profession, but you cannot be certain of his future choices in life, and you cannot guarantee that what you taught him when he's young will still be his focus and end goal in his life.

This is why its hard to expect something from something unexpected. You cannot control the future choices of your son, but let him live with his own choices and allow him to learn and grow from his wrong decision making.

Esports career is something highly in demand and profitable these days, but the stability and security cannot be assured. But that's what your son's passion, so let him burn his passion for now and maybe he'll be responsible enough to manage his future career and decisions in life.

I will talk to him seriously lay things and tell him the pros and cons, and ask him what he thinks.  If he is still int Esport Career, I will support him but will advise him to finish his study while he is engaging with Esports activities.

I believe our kids have rights what they wanted to do as long as it is building their future and at the same time always reminder them the imporatance of education and having diploma and a degree because Esport Career is not for lifetime, it will be better if he has back-up plans.

This is the case of a family member right now, his only son out of 4 children choose to abandon doctor for online gaming streamer/ Esport Career, and the mother and father had so much hope in him until now, what would you do in this case?

I've tried my best, telling them how Esport is so big today but they don't just get it,  simply because they don't believe that anyone who sit and play games has no future.

there are parents that are so close minded and very authoritative.  But if that is they wanted to their kids, we can't do anything.  Depending on our relation to the parents and how they respect us, the result of the same approach will be different.  I will try to explain the opportunities and give them ideas on how they can support their kids plan while not disrupting the kids education.

As a parents you should not force it on your children to choose what they desire not if you try to insist they must do it you might regret forcing it on them because the outcome may not be what you expect.

Parents now need to watch there children to know what they are capable of doing, there are children with different talents and what ever you have talent on that is what you will do better, so parents should know this and channel their children to what they have idea on it is not all the time that parents should choose a career for there children.

It is actually his own right to decide his future profession. However, if he already started the medical study, he must finish it. Parents have spent a lot of money, he must be responsible to finish the study. I'm sure, being an online gaming streamer shouldn't bother the medical study, he can do it together. He just need to be discipline to manage the time. Whatever the reason is, I believe he actually shouldn't leave the dream of being a doctor. Moreover, he has agreed with their parents in the past.

You’re very correct, Parents have the right to advise and guide their children because they want the better life for them, but forcing them into a certain career they  don’t like may  make them unhappy in the future. Everyone has a different talent and interests. What may work for one person may not necessarily work for the other person.
Not just about making them unhappy in the future, it’s also about them being unable to succeed using that which their parent forced them into, and when they don’t succeed in that path, those who pushed them there will never take full responsibility for it; instead, they will still blame it on the child for not putting in more effort or whatever they will use against the child.

We have stories like popular Nigerian singer ”Fhalz the bad guy” who his family made him to study law which he did and when he was done he retuned the obtained certificate to the parents and focused on his music career which is where he’s making his earnings from.

Not about the money, at least for his parents satisfaction he needs to complete his studies as he might also dreamt of becoming a doctor and due to the trends kids change different paths. If he continues his studies and does the game streaming parallel then it seems a better plan. Being positive is good and all the gaming streamers aren't successful. Having education will help us being the best throughout our life. Soon after his studies he can concentrate completely on gaming. If things didn't go as he expected at least what he studied will give hands.

Well, let us be realistic. In the case he managed to fulfill his parents wish and became a doctor, their parents won't be happy with him going back to playing eSports. They would eventually pressure him into working as a doctor instead of playing games competitively.
In the end, no matter what he does to try to please his family, they won't be happy with him working as a professional player.

Still, I agree with you: there is money already invested and if he does not complete his education, that is pretty much money being flushed down the toilet.
Which is quite a blow to any family, considering how inflation has developed lately around the world.

You are right, it's his own decisions to take, but the right choice should be made as regards to his parents effort towards his studies, it is possible to be a medical doctor and still be a Gambling streamer as that has nothing to stop him from graduating as a medical doctor. Afterall there are medical doctor who are musicians, actor or artist, teacher etc. sometimes we might study something and have passion for something else. Like me I did electrical engineering but today that's not what am doing for survival. Anyone has the right to do what pleases them so long they are adult and are capable to take care of  their bill or take decision. but atleast their parents wish need to be  fufiled except it was never possible to fulfill in the first place expecialy when you have zero knowledge of what they want you to become.

I have several examples of children who were sent to school to learn but the boy became addicted to playing games and could not complete the educational session. Another person who tried to gain skills in game development as an adult and got addicted himself but his intention was to make himself skilled.

We hear success stories but the number is not very many. Those who want to join this profession have to be very talented and get training from the right place because as much as there is joy in an entertaining profession, there is also the risk of addiction.

Parents should give their children the freedom to choose their profession but it is very important to be strict in keeping them away from the tools of addiction during the apprenticeship period because this is the time to build a good future for them.

I've tried my best, telling them how Esport is so big today but they don't just get it,  simply because they don't believe that anyone who sit and play games has no future.

There is no other way but to express your sorrow for those parents.

Just as parents have misunderstood and assumed that gaming means life destruction. You have also failed to explain that eSports is a very big industry without pervading their traditional mentality.

As parent it is natural to dream about your child's career. But imposing your own unfinished dream on your child is a kind of mental exploitation. I myself was a victim of this kind of exploitation. Wanting to fulfill their desire to become a doctor with their only son out of four children is not love, it was their ego. That child is not their property that they have to mold according to their wishes.

One thing parents should realize is that the world is changing, courses that were extremely relevant and paying before are gradually losing their grip because of advances in technology, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is even doing a lot of human work currently, what is even paying nowadays is more of tech, YouTube etc, so for this instance of a child choosing online gaming (Esports) over medicine i will advise the parents to guide the child rather than kill his dreams, no one knows which career part that will boost a child’s destiny, because being a doctor has worked for some people doesn’t mean it will also work for your child, i have seen doctors that are struggling to survive so to me why will someone constrain his mind to medicine when there are other good paying careers, different children have different destiny hence parents shouldn’t force their kids towards a career that they have no passion for else the child won’t succeed in that career and won’t forgive his/her parent in the future for killing their dreams.

Like what the likes of Cai And other popular YouTubers are doing, what will you do? Force in to stop or disown him? Or generally just feel sad about it?

This is the case of a family member right now, his only son out of 4 children choose to abandon doctor for online gaming streamer/ Esport Career, and the mother and father had so much hope in him until now, what would you do in this case?

What a load of nonsense—why would you even ask that? As long as my son lives in my house, he follows my rules—period. That goes for as long as he’s a minor, and if he wants to keep living here after he turns 18, he’ll have to follow them. And the rule here is very simple: you study, and then in your free time you can do whatever you want—but you have to finish school.

What’s this about dropping out of school to devote yourself “full-time” to video games? You finish your studies, and only if you start making significant amounts of money from gaming in your free time will we consider whether it’s worth quitting school.

It’s the same as when you have a full-time job but start a side hustle that you enjoy more. You only quit your main job if the side hustle is bringing in more money than your 9-to-5 job.

Parents of to be more careful in deciding for their children, instead, they should serve as a guide and mentor them in the right way to know between various choices to make in career, while the final decision should come from the children, because they all have right to decide for themselves once the attain a particular stage in life, it will get to a certain stage whereby you can only advise them but they will only have to decide what to do after considering for the alternatives.
You are right. I never want any parent to try to make their dreams or desires come true through their children. If any decision of their child is wrong, then it is the responsibility of the parents to correct them. they should be explained to them with logic and information with taking time. Because as they grow older, the thinking of children also changes. The boy who gives up his studies at a young age and takes up video streaming as a career and spends his time, when he becomes an adult, he will understand the reality and have to fulfill his responsibilities, then he will regret this wrong decision. If he had not wasted his time and studied or used other skills for development, it would have brought something better for him. So that he does not have to regret this in the future, the parents should explain him correctly at the beginning and bring him on the right way. Let him choose a profession that will work as a good source of income for him in the future. There is no obligation to just become a doctor. If he wants, he can go to other professions as per his convenience. But one should not choose a profession that has doubts about whether it will provide the same income flow in the future.
