How many soccer leagues are there and why do we need so many threads?

If EPL, FA and EFL Cup can all be under England, and other countries to be having their own single threads, it might later lead to more people from different countries posting their own professional leagues.

The professional leagues that you are referring to are in up to 135 countries. But most of them are not discussed on this forum.

Since the league discussed are different, I don't see most soccer league threads coming together into a single thread.
What I will recommend is the moderator locking thread created after a specific league discussion thread is already since the discussion can still take place on the previously created topic unless it is a thread sponsored by a casino for the league.

Just looking at the 1st page of this section and counted 21 threads dealing with soccer alone. That's just what I counted on the 1st page, imagine if i went counting a few more pages. All of these 21 threads are not different leagues, but more then 12 are. Kinda insane.

Seems a bit crazy to me that we have a separate thread for every single soccer league but I am not 1 that watches the sport so I am curious mostly about the ability to combine some of these threads into 1? 191 leagues means there could be at least 191 threads if someone created 1 for each league, then add on possible gambling threads about these leagues, and duplicates as people just don't pay attention to if there is already a thread on a subject.

I think we are losing perspective over where which thread is for which league. But it makes sense for there to be this many threads since football is very popular except in the USA, where it is referred to as soccer and is not as popular.

What we have is a lack of order in the gambling section. Boxxing threads are all over the place as well. So it is not only about football/soccer.

Perhaps we need a pinned thread with a list of all the league threads.

We obviously do not need 10 threads on the same league.

Theres a lot and as much anyone wanted to fix a lot of threads and combine into single threads many leagues are out there. Im pretty surr no one wants a single thread for dozens of league running at the same time or active at the moment. I think its better to stay as it is unless theres a unified decision maybe by moderator to do a clean up for gambling boards.

I also believe that gambling section need to be properly organized in a way that the discussion will be fresh and interesting. Discussing current season in a thread created several years ago, that makes the thread too long and boring to follow. If the mods can help lock those mega threads so that new ones can be created and retained for he major leagues, it would help sanitize the gambling thread and male the discussion better arranged. Other smaller leagues can be merged too.

You might need to re read what I wrote. I said there are 21 threads on page 1 talking about soccer, that's just page 1 of this section. There are probably another 30-50 threads on soccer on the following few pages.

Why we have them that much is because paid pools also create their own personal threads and discussions are also going on there just like other threads of the same league. We have many paid pools from different casinos on the same/different leagues, and there is no way they can be merged to be one since they have different sponsors.

I have also seen the creation of new league threads of recent but as far as it is a different league from the ones we have here before, they can’t be merged as one, even though people may not find interest in them as they’re not as popular as the ones already active here.

To combine as a whole in one thread is difficult but it would be better if we had at least 1 do not need as many threads for one same discussion (same league) as threads in 5 domestic competitions, and 3 threads for Combined Competitions (Champions League, Europa League and Conference league).
But sometimes there is always a new thread even though the old thread still exists as it exists today where there are 2 threads for EPL that are currently active even though they both discuss almost the same thing.

I don't think this would be a great idea. Having multiple threads of same league doesn't look right but I think the main reason multiple thread is created is to separate different seasons and to prevent mega threads (not always the case). Also combining all European competitions won't be nice IMO, they are separate competition and are big enough to have separate threads. EPL and Serie A having two active threads is what I don't understand.

I don't visit any of the threads as I do not watch the sport, I am just commenting on how this section looks really. We almost need a sub board for the soccer stuff TBH. It's a bit overwhelming.

You're right a sub board might actually help but can't blame soccer for being the most popular sport in the world.

It wouldn't be feasible to combine all the leagues and discussions into a single topic; it would be confusing and wouldn't help the forum at all. I thought about something like each league in its own local board, like Brasileirão (Brazil), Italian Championship (Italy), Bundesliga (Germany), and La Liga (Spain), and those that aren't necessarily local remain in the "general" section (gambling discussion), but there are many here who like other teams and leagues, like me, so it's best to leave it as it is or organize a board just for that, and I don't think they want to do that.

There are a few more threads open about football, especially the number of football clubs is very high, which is why separate topics and threads have been created for each league. Now if the discussion of La Liga football is inserted into the discussion of the English Premier League, then more chaos will be created in that case. Users will not have fun posting there, or if one post is followed by another post about a different club or a different match, then chaos will arise in the discussion. Therefore, it is okay to create separate threads for each league. But the point is that the answer is not to create threads for leagues that are less popular, because in this case, the attention of users will be focused on the main league.

If we are going to talk about merging some of the football threads to reduce the number of football threads on the board, we have to first of all see how to discourage people from creating duplicate threads of league threads that already exist. Although i don't write in those  mega football threads, that's because of my poor knowledge about football (i can only comment  on sport related matters if i watched it), i have been trying to find answers to why we have duplicate threads of EPL here in this forum, does the rule about creating duplicate threads not apply to sports too? This is the very part that should be looked into seriously. After this is done, other small leagues can then be merged.

So you think it's ok to have a baseball topic in which we discuss both the MLB and the Nippon Professional Baseball League the same time? 

Perhaps a middle ground, not just one thread for each league but putting several leagues in the same thread, for example all below X level, which are hardly talked about (in the hypothetical case that so many threads were created in the first place, which seems unlikely to me).

I understand the justification, but it also seems to me that the threads have proliferated and it could end up being a bit chaos. But at the moment it's not annoying at all.

Fusing some of the thread into one is good and most specifically those threads that are coming from one league. Like the world Cup, the premier League and other related threads. But the casino sponsored, regional and country threads shall be separated. And if it is possible there shall be a bylaw (rule) pin on the board. I think the main thing here is the rule. And let the rule clearly stated that each Soccer League most have one thread and duplicating thread is prohibited.

Let me get your point clear because it seems like a good one. Do you mean that every discussion thread concerning English football, such as the Premier League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, and Community Shield discussion thread,thread should be combined as one? Then the same thing applied across other major leagues discussion threads, like La Liga, Serie A, Ligue 1, Bundesliga, and the rest.
Then when it comes to regional football leagues, the World Cup, the African football thread, the European League, the Copa America, and the Asian Cup?

However, I do not see much of problem with the way things are, But a guided rule be introduced to avoid the creation of a duplicate topic, let's say two different premier League discussions thread still talking about same thing, that's really the annoying part for me.

I doubt if all these soccer thread you are talking off people are actively posting in them, because their are few soccer thread like the top five leagues, transfer speculation thread, African football discussion thread and a few others like Saudi  Arabian, Portuguese and Turkish league. All these thread comes with different discussions, because it would make no sense if something happens in the English premier league and the story is being discussed in league meant for German matters. So I agree that 191 is just too much, but I don't think that in most of them.people are still conversing there.

Some of these thread may have been locked already, which some has been forgotten, so joining most of them together will make conversations there even more messy than the first page of the gambling discussion board.

I think the way out will be to merge every football discussion of a country in one thread (that is, every league of one country whether the first division, second division or the third division should go to one thread. European competitions such as the Europa league, conference league and the UEFA champions league can all be in one thread. Tournaments like the world cup, UEFA Nations League and other international tournaments can be held in one single thread. Then friendly matches can also have one single thread. A lot of sanitization needs to be done in the gambling section, though the mods are trying their best but we can also help them make suggestions to improve the gambling section.

When we consider that of the soccer alone, you can see that many leagues are found in this aspect; then, leaving soccer to another sport entirely, I don't think many threads are as popular as that of the soccer, including their leagues as well; maybe I will just have to say that from my own observation.

Other sports may not have more than one or two leagues in which there are threads for them. If we look at the entire gambling board and the gambling discussion board, it is a section that is full of traffic because almost everyone is interested in gambling discussion because they all have a passion for sports or gambling.

What's annoying is when there are multiple threads for a particular league, say more than one thread for the English Premier League. I think one thread is enough to discuss each league. That said, we are not going to discuss Champions League football in the Spanish Laliga thread, that wouldn't make any sense. One thread, per league works for me, just as there's only one thread for transfer news/speculations.

My recommendation is that the major European Leagues, Champions League and Europa/Conference Leagues and some popular leagues like the Saudi League and Turkish Super League should have new threads every season and as soon as new season starts, the previous season thread should be locked. Other smaller Leagues can be merged based on continent. This will make the gambling board better organized.

Putting all the football leagues in one thread means making extreme messes! Just think if Arsenal vs Man City title race pressure tactics, Real Madrid-Barcelona El Clasico debates and minor league betting odds were all posted in one thread on the same day then it would be impossible to keep track of who was replying to whom.

With a separate thread, fans or bettor of a particular league can go directly to their desired place to discuss.

Creating a huge Megathread will drown out the original analyzes in flood of notifications and random comment.

I was looking forward to how to address this issue of thread in gambling board until I saw this particular one. I'm of the opinion that we need to address the way moderators delete gambling posts on this board. There should be a separate thread to discuss separate things but it can still be link to the leagues. Like we have the discussion of Premier League, when people create about EFL thread, it should not be deleted, this makes main thread to be a mega thread today.

Similarly if you visit Laliga, the thread is so big that if you want to make a reply, you be afraid and that's because we discussed almost everything on the same thread. We should not merge leagues together, the meta board is seeing this place like a dead board already, the notifications will be tiring just like you said. If they makes it more worse then I think this place will not be entertaining for casino businesses and spirit books again, just my two cents.

So for example, are you trying to say like to combine "Turkiye League" and "Saudi Arabia League" together? Or combine "Premier League and Spanish La Liga" on the same thread? Because to me, it will rather increase the rate of spam, rather than give room for meaningful discussions on such league threads. Because it's actually very good as each league has its specific thread for the discussion of its matches, and if you think the first page of the gambling board is filled with just only Football league threads, then I see nothing wrong with clicking the "Next" button to move to the second page where you can look for the specific game you wanted to discuss on. Because football thread happens to occupy the first page, simply because it is the most talked about Sport games.

Its understandable for someone who is not that much into football to think we can combine the different leagues into on thread, I don't think it will be possible though, just combining the leagues in England will prove to be difficult enough already, they might all be football but there are all different clubs playing for different trophies.
I don't think we will have any need to also create a different thread for the over 190 different leagues though, most of them are barely even discussed here, create a thread for them and it will mostly be empty.
