How many soccer leagues are there and why do we need so many threads?

You can't put them all together to be one thread. It doesn't work like that, and the thread will be too messy. I doubt the board has discussion in more than 12 leagues; the problem is, people still create topics that should be in an already existing thread as topics. Like the EPL transfer thread. There is absolutely no need for that. Whatever is said on that thread can be said in the Premier League thread or the transfer market thread. If the topics were not repeated and people were not creating discussions that should be in threads as topics, I don't think there would be any problems.

So what I suggest is that the moderators should delete or lock any topic that can be in an already existing active thread, and make sure that there is only one thread for every major country and league. We mainly discuss English, Spanish, German, American, Saudi Arabia, French, Italian, Portuguese, and the Netherlands leagues and European Football.

Other discussions of South American, African and Asian football leagues should be in their own threads, like there is already an African football discussion thread. Not because these countries or leagues are irrelevant, but because they are not as popular as the top 7 European leagues and European competition. This will also prevent people from coming up with different leagues for every country.

Uhm! Maybe that qualifies them for one and sanitize this whole place once and for all. I really think a some countries already deserve an LB e.g Parkistan which their thread is 1690 pages at the moment. Trust me, it brings some level of sanity here and that's an extreme measure, but the situation here calls for extreme measures.

I think what might look more feasible is a modified version of the second suggestion, their should be a different board for different sports like football, basketball, cricket, boxing, e.t.c, while core gambling topics stays on this board. It would help make things look very tidy around here.

Sounded funny when i read it, i understand that he feels the sports league could be aiding spamming since their threads are mostly megathreads but submerging it into one is not a good decision, it would cause confusion as time goes cause people would be discussing about different football leagues in one thread.

Well we can’t blame the OP for thinking all the leagues are basically just the same thing and thus all the threads should be merged, he basically pointed out that he’s from the USA and from what I know, football isn’t cherished over there as it is in every other part of the world, so it’s understandable for him to feel confused since he may not really have enough knowledge about foosball.
Maybe after reading through the thread, he’ll get to understand

You already got the idea because if you put all the discussions together in one thread, the thread will become a super mega thread that contributions and post will be deeply inside the thread. And we know that posting in mega threads is not richly appreciated because of repetitions that makes reading monotonous.

I understand op but the solution is never to bring threads into one. We already have mega threads and to suggest such will mean a more mega thread as discussions about football leagues generates more posts than other football discussions and we can't open new topics inside existing thread because it will be difficult to follow up and understand what topic you are responding to. So I think what we have is the much we can do about it. Or, I could also suggest a sub-board for football leagues where transfers, preseason will be discussed , that will water down the size of football threads on the gambling board. However, by any means, I think there is not much to it. Unnecessary football league discussion or irrelevant topics to gambling should be moved to off topic by mod (As they are doing already).

As long as there is no two different thread for one league, there is no way two threads can be merged as one when the league is different. It will not allow for the order flow of the conversation there. Maintaining one thread for each league is the best and for every new season that’s starting, the conversations should go on there without a user creating another new thread for the new season.

I think the last part of your post is what I want to add to because every new season comes with its on vibes. So to create a new thread inside an existing thread, won't that look clustered and the topic lost? (except that is not what you mean). I believe it is better to open a fresh thread for a new season, at least it will create new and fresh thread to discuss on and avoiding mega threads. Mod can lock old mega threads relating to the country's league whose thread was opened.

To be honest I have noticed that what the mods permit is just these leagues thread or topic and any other topics that is created they wouldn't be that hesitant to move it to either off topic or archive whichever I found it very annoying because it seems as if these mods that is assigned to moderate the gambling board are not soul sport gamblers and most of the discussion that is being posted are mostly sports betting discussion, but instead of mod to permits such they would moved them to off topic or even lock such thread. I have been seeing repeatedly league discussions which I think they aren't called for and some discussion can be held in one but instead people may decide to create their topics separately in order to get required attention but yet mods keeps deleting some sports discussion topics.

We are on gambling discussion board while in fact most of those soccer league threads are mostly discussing soccer or sports in general only which mostly has nothing to do with gambling, I can give an exception to the paid pool soccer threads.
I would not mind to see many different soccer leagues thread (1 per league) but it will be better if it is on different sub board (not under gambling discussion), where? I dont know tbh but maybe a new sub board or new board is needed for all of these general sports discussion.

It seems that the mods/Admins responsible for the gambling discussion section have to work overtime to solve this problem, but if they don't care and do anything, of course more football league threads will appear.

I'm sure the mods have a way to regulate the soccer league thread excessively, unless they ignore it, when we create a warning topic like this the soccer league thread doesn't decrease, it actually increases, but when the rules run and action is taken, that's wheneverything looks neatly arranged.

One action from them/mod/Admin all problems will be resolved.

Might be an argument worth talking about TBH. If it's not gambling it should be elsewhere and maybe some of these threads may not be made as it will not count towards the gambling section post quota. Either way you make a good point.

Problem is that besides discussing different leagues in different topics, people discuss league seasons in different topics. For example there would be English Premiem Leagues, and EPL season 26/27 where same information is posted and discussed. In addition some keep on posting 25/26 season topic.  Moreover some people also discuss EPL team transfers in extra topic. In rare case bunch of people form a reward pool and discuss EPL current season among contenders. Besides there are users who created separate topic “ Will <EPL team A> beat <EPL team B> this <date>/<day>?”

You caught me  I can't watch all the games and had to sacrifice something in favor of the Catanzaro - Südtirol clash. The names of the football clubs seemed fictitious to me, especially the second one, as it doesn't sound Italian, but Wikipedia reassured me and confirmed my instincts: this club should play in the Bundesliga.
It's so good that we have so much football that doesn't even need to be invented (this is the last barrier that separates our elite intellectual betting from slots or fantasy football)!

I completely get the feeling, and of course, it would be a ideal to combine as many leagues as possible so we can optimize the size of the front page of the gambling sections of the forum. But there is a problem, there are leagues which are simply too different culturally and geographically, for example, it would not make much sense to mix African Football with European football, since half of the thread which have people talking off-topics things in the eyes of the other half of the thread.

It would be good if we could have a single thread for football, depending on which continent the leagues takes place.

To combine as a whole in one thread is difficult but it would be better if we had at least 1 do not need as many threads for one same discussion (same league) as threads in 5 domestic competitions, and 3 threads for Combined Competitions (Champions League, Europa League and Conference league).
But sometimes there is always a new thread even though the old thread still exists as it exists today where there are 2 threads for EPL that are currently active even though they both discuss almost the same thing.

I don't think this would be a great idea. Having multiple threads of same league doesn't look right but I think the main reason multiple thread is created is to separate different seasons and to prevent mega threads (not always the case). Also combining all European competitions won't be nice IMO, they are separate competition and are big enough to have separate threads. EPL and Serie A having two active threads is what I don't understand.

My point is to merge the same 2 threads into one thread like for EPL which currently there are still 2 threads Premier League Prediction Thread 2025/2026 and ⚽ Premier League 2026/2027 Discussion Thread ⚽ which is pretty much the same discussion and this could serve as a good marge by locking one of them up.

We cannot combine the threads of competition because surely the discussion will be strange where several competitions for big domestic leagues are made in one thread it will not be possible to do but when the competition is in 1 shade like the EPL which has several competitions like the FA Cup and Carabao maybe it can still be done.

So that in this case even though we cannot make a joint as a whole but for some overlapping threads it can be minimized.

I also think it would be nice to better structure these leagues into some kind of subsection, but I don't know exactly how to do that. Overall, it doesn't bother me too much, but I've noticed that it's very inconvenient for many. Of course, you can't have two leagues in one thread, and it's unlikely to be improved, at least in my opinion. Everything will probably remain as it is now, except you could add these threads to your browser as favorites for quick access, or do something outside of the forum for your convenience. I don't see any other options, although other participants might suggest something better.

There was a week when I couldn't even share my thoughts because most of the threads that were made were all about the "World Cup" only. I know there is a hype going on about it, and popular streamers did help to boost it more, but it went overboard here in the forum. Even the smallest news can grow big, and there's no stopping it unless the moderator locks it up.

The hype continues. That's the problem. Even the smallest news from the smallest league of football becomes big because we have many fans of football in the forum now. It's a good thing. The more people here, the better. But let's not forget the name of the forum, and also be decent in the threads we make.

At least with Tyrol, you at least know where to point it on the map, when I look in the Conference League, for some teams I don't even know where to start, forget Lithuania, Latvia, Slovenia Slovakia confusion some people fall into, that's not my problem, I am genuinely confused when I don't know what kind of name that is or what does it stands for, RFS is playing against TNS or FCSB what the hall are those...

Or if it's not initials, then there is a name like Zira...someone say it to me with a straight face, I should think of Azerbaijan instantly when hearing that!

Splitting or organizing these threads into sub sections would make the board less congested  especially for new members or anyone trying to follow a specific league without scrolling through unnecessary posts.

What jokerjosue is doing in the other thread is a good step. Although having a central list of the threads to guide people will not completely stop new threads from being created, but it brings some order to the board.

The main problem, as you pointed out, is mixed up conversations. If too many different match or league discussions are packed into one large thread, it can become confusing, causing replies to get lost and making it hard to follow the topic.

Maybe they are not doing it the way we might want them to handle their league thread because there is no clear forum rules which prevent them from existing.

Maybe with the way motions are being moved in the past few days, new rules can be made concerning how many league threads we can have opened at a time.

I recently ran into a member who has been creating threads for almost all different leagues since last week, and they are all still open without moderators doing anything about it.

Seems a bit crazy to me that we have a separate thread for every single soccer league but I am not 1 that watches the sport so I am curious mostly about the ability to combine some of these threads into 1? 191 leagues means there could be at least 191 threads if someone created 1 for each league, then add on possible gambling threads about these leagues, and duplicates as people just don't pay attention to if there is already a thread on a subject.

Of course it feels like it's clustered over all the area, but it is better to give it a different board altogether than merging everything into 1 thread, it surely wouldn't make sense. There are different leagues involved and merging all into one would make it hell of a mess, it wouldn't just make sense and the discussions would be so distorted and meaningless that the spamming would be uncontrollable.

On the other hand, I would suggest all prediction threads, discussion threads and transfer speculation threads belonging to a definite league should be merged as one, that would help to some extent to clean up stuffs to some extent.

I know you are suggesting for the 191 professional leagues in the world to be merge together into one thread so that there will be one thread for soccer leagues discussion, which is a good thing but merging all professional leagues in one thread will make it difficult to navigate the thread as Mr. A will be talking about what happened in Premier League, Mr B talking about what happened in La Liga, and Mr. C talking about what happened in Serie A. I would have say that only the top five Europe leagues should have thread for discussion in this forum since they are the mostly watched leagues in the world but since we have so members who will want their country leagues to have a thread here for them to discuss about their leagues I'm suggesting for Europe top five leagues and the leagues of the members who are in this forum to be the only soccer leagues open for discussion in this forum it will help reduce the numbers of soccer leagues here.

I don't think all the professional leagues in soccer will all be merged, let's just talk about the reality and what is possible here, there is another thing that you discover members spamming the forum or the gambling section, another thing is to have each discussion league on a separate thread for proper information and updates, just the same way we cannot have every gambling platform announcement thread on a single thread, while in case of any abuse use of privileges, such can be reported to the moderator.
