It is hard to be a Nigerian and don't know to write in pidgin or understand it to an extend even if you are not fluent. I have been a supporter of using both English and pidgin but mostly pidgin to give us some form of identity.  The pattern of people coming here and pretending to be Nigerians is really not good and something have to be done about it. He didn’t say admin should reveal the ip address of the voters. I remember Theymos has done this before so it’s not a ridiculous ask. Even if it is, the worse that can happen is a no.

This is really asking for too much just as Igebotz stated, it's not even as if this is something that concerns the entire forum, it's just a local community thing. Even if the vote results favors those of us who voted for strictly pidgin, it is not possible to convince everyone to start making posts in pidgin. And again, foreigners are not restricted from coming to make posts in the local board so they can prefer to use AI to translate their texts and of course, it is not against forum rules.

A solution to this discussion has already been proffered, which is for an original poster who wants pidgin to be maintained in their thread to signify by making it clear so that somebody will make a reply out of the instructions of the OP, same as someone who also wants English to be used in the thread they created. This is a very simple logic that should solve this drama.

I try to avoid the politics of the Local Board but... Those supporting English language in the local board against pidgin all because they act not to know how to write or speak pidgin in real life, please show me one Nigerian you know in real life that doesn't know how to speak pidgin, even if it's a Nigerian living in diaspora? Even the best of intellectually educated people like Wole Soyinka (who won the nobel prize in literature, in 1986) do speak Nigeria pidgin, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala (the director general of the World Trade Organisation) knows how to speak Nigeria pidgin. And some of you who aren't match to the intelligence of this Nigerians I mentioned are telling us they don't know how to write or speak in pidgin.

What if the admin help us without given the IP to moderator? I guess that the voted for only pidgin votes will reduce than those that voted for both.

You are very wrong. If you understand the local board language, you can post there. There are people from Ukraine that are posting under Russian board because they know how to speak Russian.

I know it very rare to find someone in Nigeria that doesn’t knowns how to speak pidgin or even understand and write it but there are people like that in this same country with us. And they might no be faking, that just what it is they don’t understand it or known how to speak it.
You know we are all in Nigerian but environments also matters a lot, and there are some people that live in an environment where pidgin and all this ghetto things don’t happen so they don’t experience all this pidgin and all that and they are Nigerians and even live in Nigeria. I have a friend that doesn’t understand pidgin at all and he schools in Nigeria and live in Nigeria, some people even find it difficult to keep up with communication with him because he doesn’t understand at all and not just him alone but same goes for his siblings too.

They did not born any one here with pidgin language, so for that fact, every one is eligible to follow with the pidgin that will bring peace of mind in these our local board and as will keep proceeding with pidgin, members that say they are Nigerian and can't speak or write in pidgin can see on how others proceed with the here because it is believe that we can learn everything but accept cry, so if speaking pidgin language will be a beneficiary to our local board, i don't think anyone has any reason of kicking against it, because if we should vividly watch within the local board, most of us can't speak pidgin language fluently but we still support pidgin language to stay because it is for the betterment of our local board.

Claiming to be a Nigerian and yet don't know how to speak or write in basic pidgin English is enough suspicion to question your true nationality. Because no matter how educated or exposed you might claim to be, basic pidgin English is one thing every Nigerian knows, and probably might have used during social media chats and communication among family and friends. I disagree with you on this, there are people that can speak the pidgin language but they cannot be able to write a sentence with it. Funny enough, even the English language there are people who can speak fluently but they can't make a full sentence in writing. I once met someone who speaks English fluently but when we started chatting on WhatsApp it was difficult for her to write and most of the time she prefers using a voice note to send messages. Pidgin is easy to speak but had for some people to write especially those who are not too lettered.

I think what we should do is to fish out those people we suspect that they're non Nigerians that are causing problems and tarnishing the image of the local board. We need to be vigilant and observant so that we can report anyone who is not following the rules of the local board. At least we have a moderator, we should channel every report to him and I believe he will handle them appropriately. We cannot stop outsiders from joining discussions in the local board.

Even the pidgin of a language, I can speak it fluently but to put it in writing is very difficult for me that's why I usually mix it with the standard English, but even as that a lot of people know me as a Nigerian, because I'm from River State, portharcourt one of the popular cities in Nigeria, but I live in the federal capital territory (Abuja) and many people know I based there.

That is because you have not left the Naija Delta area before, probably you are also from Portharcourt but I have seen many Portharcourt also supporting english and pidgin but many of you supporting pidgin only are from that area. That is the reason you are posting like this, I easily use this to know some people that come from Naija Delta. You have not spoken pidgin to someone before and the person is replying in english? You need to travel out of your state.

If you go to the North, there are also many people that do not know pidgin and english. It will be good if local languages are also accepted. I will prefer to communicate in my local language than pidgin, they speak Hausa. That is the area that I will like to improve.

I will like this because I believe alts will not also benefit from it unless they post very good. Most people are not innocent on the board even if they are proving like they are. Any time a Nigerian do bad thing, if the person is truly from Nigeria, I will always indicate that on this thread.
