In my opinion, newbies here in this forum are generally not newbies outside, not children. Most of them are grown-up people who can read and understand, most of them used internet and social media platforms already.
And the rules are not hidden. They are all pinned in top of every board of this forum.
So using newbie status to break any rules is not a valid excuse, also, newbies are not supposed to do anything else but read and understand first. So they should naturally not break any rules.

I will say that there are extents of rules that can be tolerated from a newbie because sometimes it's not like they don't read the rules or the pinned posts. But these rules are too many that they can't memorise all at once and they can break some of them once in a while. But the main indicator of whether a person has read some rules at all or not is in the type of rules they break. There are rules that clearly can not be broken by someone who has put in some amount of effort to read the rules while there are other rules that one may have read but didn't understand well. Such newbies who are willing to learn then resort to creating threads to question whatever they do not understand. This approach may not be perfect because it leads to many duplicate threads, but it is better than acting ignorantly and getting caught in avoidable mistakes. When they get answers, then they should apply it and never break the rules going forward.

When I was new to the forum, I read most of the pinned posts on the Beginners & Help and Meta boards. They helped me a lot to understand at least the basic rules of the forum. Back then I spent more time reading than posting. However I learned more from the pinned posts on our Local Board, because everything was explained in my own languages, then as I used the forum regularly, I gradually understood the rest of the rules and still I may not know all the rules. And honestly the forum rules is not that hard, if you are honest yourself.

‎When I newly joined this forum I didn’t know all the rules, but the longer I stayed the more familiar those rules were to me.

‎I will encourage those that are new in this forum to always visit the meta and reputation board, some cases over there will help you know what you should do or not do in this forum

Yeah they certainly cannot master all the rules at once but the problem is that they have no choice but to know and master all of them because one offense can destroy everything. I think most users including new and old don’t really read through the rules but they only get to find out and learn more of it through the discussions going on and how offenders are getting punished for it, meanwhile they might’ve as well defaulted in the same offense prior to hearing about it without knowing. So, In order to be at the safer side it’s better to first master the rules when coming in a forum like this because most will say “ignorance to the law is not an excuse “.

I agree with you that the forum rule is actually easy and clear to understand just like the once you mentioned, however there some rules or things that newbies may not actually know at the beginning like AI rules, using translator to post in another local board, cheating on contest, posting things that are not verified, begging of merit, creating thread recently created by another member, spamming, buying of account, etc.

I understand that real newbies, especially those new in discussion forums might find here a bit hard to cope, but the fact remains that most newbies come here with the intention of making money fast and not learning and engaging properly, most of those newbies that fall in the second category are the ones more vulnerable to failing the rules.

The first thing to do when you come into a new environment is to look around for the rules of engagement and ask if you don't see them, the Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ is enough to get any newbie started, good thing it's still being updated to reflect current rules that unfolds. Cheating in contests is an intentional act, contests has it's own rules as well, so I don't think there's much of an excuse for newbies here.

It is in every community not only in the BTC community, it's not possible to know everything in a place that you are newly introduce to it's the more you stay the more you know more things about the community and also the rules and regulations guilding the community.
It's also important to ask some questions in a place you are not familiar about, so it's normal as a beginner to learn everything from the scratch you can't be new and know everything at a time.

Reading before making any post is very important as a beginner, you aren't expected to know everything within a short period of time that's why the rules are there to always go through so you can get acquainted to the forum. The reason why it is always emphasised to read is because of the knowledge you are going to gain and not just reminding yourself of the rules. Some newbies focus too much on trying to create threads even when they have no idea of what to discuss, this pressure is what makes some of them use Ai and then theynget flagged at the end of the day.

The problem is that most newbies are in such a rush to grow their accounts... They think that if they post more, they can grow their accounts quickly. However, they need to realize that building an account is a process, there are no instant results, and there are many things they need to know in order to succeed.. I agreed with your few points but few things are still much helpful for newbies because they can interrogate for things from their local boards while rules are also wide open in Meta this is best part of this forum this section Beginners & Help have enough things which are important to follow and start journey in this magical world of crypto. Looking around and having early knowledge and updates always keep things on right track few things are always strict to follow because if someone fail this can bring problem recently enough cheaters are caught due to use of AI and copy past this is also good lesson for newbies because with these things they could be understand environment and how to work here without doing any problematic work using own content and mind always bring good resutls and better way of learning.

Before you decide to be an active member of the forum you must be ready to read and this is something that a lot of newbies don't really have the patience for, that's the reason why they end up making mistakes and breaking the rules. You're right bros, feels like it's impossible for a beginner & newbie to know everything on this forum. I remember very well what it was like when I first joined this forum, I was quite clueless & even committed a violation that resulted in my account being temporarily banned (because I entered an altcoin giveaway).

So, for the newbies, never be afraid to do whatever is on your mind in this forum. If you happen to make a mistake, plenty of users will be there to guide you.

Is the forum rules so difficult to understand? Or is it so much that you can read and understand within a short period of time? To me as a newbie, you should try and familiarize yourself with the forum rules first, before rushing to post. If you end up doing the wrong thing, you going to be punished because nobody will listen to your story that you haven’t gone through all the forum rules.

If you are here to learn, then you dont have to be in rush, and the first thing you should do is to familiarize yourself with the rules. You can just keep on reading other people’s post, but you don’t have to comment yet, when you understand things better, you can start making comments.

Newbie is a description of a person that is new to something, not by age or personality. There are some people with a newbie account in the forum but I can tell you that they are well knowledgeable about Bitcoin than some legendary accounts and that's why even Theymos has said repeatedly that Merit does not describe the person behind an account, some people are good in their lane which is more reason I don't agree with OP saying rules should be relax for newbies.

Unless there is unspoken things which I don't think are not necessary, if the forum says don't do this, don't do it. If they say it's discourage, I know some people will say it's a different rule but don't do it. It's best to avoid problems in the forum and avoid drama too, it will makes you go long way in the forum. For example a newbie be dragging everyone in the forum for clout and trolling will not make you go far in the forum.

It is not possible to know everything at the same time, even in real life, not all life's lessons are learnt in a short time, the more older you grow the more knowledge you gain and experience you have. That is how life works, you have to start from scratch to begin to learn something new. Newbies are keen to make mistakes and they learn from the mistake as it teaches them lessons.

This is something I often recommend; frequently, I suggest things like "cultivate your curiosity", or "read more". Those who truly grasp what I mean; will understand that the path forward involves a gradual process, and requires plenty of time. The bottom line is, there is no need to rush; just give your time to visit this forum, and study it carefully.

Well, most newcomers might not be very familiar with the layout of this forum, especially if they haven't seen similar sites before. Personally, I was fortunate enough to be accustomed to this kind of interface from the start, as it reminds me of other forums I have visited, including Kaskus, a popular Indonesian forum. Even so, I still need to keep learning and reading more on this forum we all love.

Maybe we should rather encourage newbies to first observe the forum before starting to create threads to announce themselves. How are they comfortable creating threads and joining discussions when they do not know the rules yet? You are right that they cannot know everything at once, but misleading the public or putting other users here at risk simply because they are newbies should not tolerated. Whenever we have time to interact with newbies, we should not fail to remind them to go through the forum rules because there are penalties for breaking the rules.

But the only place I do have problems with some newbies is being wrong and still claiming right onto of it when they can accept and learn from their mistakes as far as the forum is concerned to me reading the rules which you can round up within few hours can give you head ups which over time you will have to understand them while you practice.

I do not think that the problem is in the pressure on beginners, but rather in alt accounts that claim to be new members (it is easy to notice because of the style of their posts).

Yes, I also feel that this is the problem, because currently I am very sure there are a lot of fake accounts that pretend to be alt accounts. So that is clearly not good, because it basically pollutes this forum. Furthermore, it also makes me discouraged when there are beginners who ask this and that and they claim to be beginners. Because I think the possibility of them being alt accounts is much greater. So with that, I think this is clearly quite annoying.

Furthermore, for forum members who are truly not alt accounts and are still beginners, I think it is natural for them not to immediately understand all the rules. Especially for forum members who don't want to read much, it will definitely take them quite a long time to understand the forum rules. But if they are truly beginners and not disguised accounts, I think it is understandable. I think the best approach is to read the rules of each board before posting and learn from mistakes along the way. Staying active and observing how experienced members contribute can also help a lot. Even after being here for some time, there is always something new to learn.
