I don't use more than ten dollars to gamble in a week, I am very cautious when it comes to gambling,  because I know very well that winning alot of money is almost not possible, but if I do eventually get lucky I will take the money and still continue to gamble with my $10

The mistake that most gamblers do is risk more than they can afford to lose, and when they win big amount of money they also don't feel contented because the amount of money they plan it makes is likely more bigger than what they won.

300k is a lot of money but to a lot of people living in some western countries it is not much of a big deal to them not because that amount of money is entirely useless but it is because in their own currency it's not enough to make one a king just like you said. For a lot of people living in third world countries that's enough to start up something and become a multi millionaire in a few years.

A lot of people might say that winning a specific amount of money would be enough and they would Walk away when they make such profits but when it finally comes greed comes in and they forget about what they said they would do when they won such amount of money.

Human wants are insatiable, the more we get we would always want to acquire more and this is quite normal but when it comes to Gambling we must learn to control our greed and be disciplined.

It's definitely good money, it would certainly change my life
but as i always say I'm old, if all goes well i still have 20 years left to live on, ten in good health
I need little money to be happy, maybe i would even stop doing the odd jobs i do.

Before that far the first mistake is to have a shadow of the winning amount for you to stop, $300k is a pretty crazy amount and definitely a lot of people are crazier than him, logically the person who has won big in gambling he will come back to gambling after the money runs out, this is a frequent case.
Sometimes I get $100-$500 just quit (but not retire), but stop gambling and withdraw winnings and enjoy it because my gambling capital is only $10-$30 every week sometimes not at all.
In my opinion do not have a winning target to stop, if you want to stop, just stop do not have expectations achieved first, it can be a dangerous doctrine for yourself

It’s not lie that every gamblers are gambling because of fun, most people are still hoping to make money from it. But if a person can win $300k, and collect the money in full, then the person is supposed to stop gambling and protect what he has. Because in many countries $300k is indeed a very big money that can change a person’s life totally.

The man made a very big mistake to even continued gambling after he have build a house and even  started a farming business. Most times knowing when to walk away is part of winning. If you have win big it’s best to secure your money, instead of risking everything to gambling site.

The main purpose of gambling is entertainment. When a gambler gambles for more than just entertainment, the risk of losing money increases manifold, and so does the potential for addiction. People's greed through gambling puts them in danger, so your greed or addiction will cause serious harm.

Winning money through gambling is completely dependent on luck. If you have good luck, you can win a big amount of money by gambling. If I win $300,000 through gambling, I will withdraw all my money and invest it wisely in a reliable place and keep myself away from gambling for a long time so that I do not lose all the money I have won due to greed or emotion.

It will be a lie if I said that all gamblers are gambling to have some fun, most gamblers want to make money from gambling atleast, now if you manage to win $300,000 from online gambling, fully paid, is this enough for you to stop gambling?

Someone I don't know was talking to a friend of mine yesterday and he said he once won 300k and gambling took everything back, he did alot with the money, build a house and start a farming business.

Slowly he started losing everything back to gambling and it was all because he failed to take his eye off gambling, a big mistake that cost him everything, but then I am thinking, isn't 300k big enough to walk away completely?

Additional, 300k is a lot of money in my country, enough to make one life like a king.
it is not about the amount, it doesnt matter if he won 300k or even 3000k, the greed eventually pulls the person again to gambling as greed is a really strong emotion. when a person wins such a big amount from gambling, first of all he becomes lazy and loses the discipline and tolerance of doing something effective so they eventually return to gambling in order to win again but this time the luck doesnt work and the person will lose, either you win or lose you will be in net loss in gambling. so its best to avoid it if we can, even if we cant avoid it we should try our best not to engage in it

300k is a lot of money and even if I were a rich gambler I would walk away with it but gambling has this greed it comes with and if you don't put yourself under control you are going to end up losing. Winning comes by luck and it is impossible to get lucky consistently, always remember to take your wins and exit the game. I'm sure this gambler had the intention of walking away even he hits less than that amount but now that he got 300k dollars his instincts would tell him that there's a possibility that he could win more if he keeps on trying, this is what leads to losses.

When I was addicted to gambling, no amount of winning allowed me to stay away from gambling. Rather, the more I won, the more confident I became that I could achieve something big from it. And I continued gambling. I think those who are addicted to gambling will never leave gambling no matter how big the win is. But those who gamble for fun and enjoy it only, if they win a good amount, they will easily stay away from gambling because they will think seriously about it. $300k is a huge amount, it can easily change a person's life. So of course, any gambler who wins that much should give up gambling completely and if I were in this place, I would definitely do it.

All these incidents in gambling are not new, but such incidents are happening all the time. I have seen a grocery shopkeeper in my locality who won a lot of money by winning the jackpot and with that money he was able to change his situation a lot. I have heard from people that the grocery shopkeeper bought an R15 motorcycle and built a good house for himself. But within a year, the grocery shopkeeper had to lose all his past profits in gambling and lost everything and became bankrupt. Therefore, all these incidents do not create any surprises in gambling, that is, when and who will get out of gambling, it does not depend on winning but on willpower.
I think you are completely very correct, you see when one win jackpot the zeal will be very interested just like you said early about your experience I think me also have weakness such scenario a man won a very big on gambling yet he is not satisfied he foolish stack all the money on  gambling thinking that gambling is his father's company where he can win at all time at end all money he made from gambling was lost the funny part he started blaming his wife that she could had stop him from gambling so as you can there's is no winning that we guarantee anyone not to start making more more.

Slowly he started losing everything back to gambling and it was all because he failed to take his eye off gambling, a big mistake that cost him everything, but then I am thinking, isn't 300k big enough to walk away completely?

I think when he first start losing $50k or $100k he gets excited and his brain stop working properly. He probably has strong desire to get that lost money back. As a result he start selling his house, business & everything and pour it back into gambling.

You want to know why he did not stop after getting such big money? The answer is, if that person who won $300,000 from gambling could not be any ordinary gambler. If such hard core gambler could have stopped by himself then he wouldn't have become a gambler at all! For gambler, money is not actual addiction, gambling is their true addiction. So the problem with that punter is not amount of money. But his mentality. He really needs mental treatment after his 300k winning.

Just as a criminal returns to the scene of the crime, I think every gambler eventually returns to gambling in one way or another. In fact, winning a huge sum might not affect your everyday gambling life, because the money you lose doesn’t affect the life of someone who spends only a few dollars on gambling each week.

The only problem is that once you suddenly have that much money, you’ll likely increase the amount you bet. Gambling as if you have an endless supply of money sitting on the sidelines can lead to that money running out.

Truly there is a two side to this gambling thing, gambling for fun while having hopes of win but the mindset that is used by those who claim they gamble for fun only is that if they win it’s a double win but if they lost it’s totally fun.

Nobody uses money just to throw it way, it’s either they gain from it, pleasure is usually the end goal or making money back.

now if you manage to win $300,000 from online gambling, fully paid, is this enough for you to stop gambling?
I will only take a break but not stop gambling because you can’t stop if you won such money, expect you have something that holds you back that is external if not your not stopping whether you agree or not. You can take a break but won’t stop totally.

That's the problem with a lot of gamblers, they get more greedy after winning a huge amount of money. The desire of winning more comes into their minds. I use to wonder why it's like that, because all gamblers are looking for a way to win big which was the main reason why the started gambling. After winning big, you are suppose to stop gambling since, you have achieved your goal but they lose it gradually back to the casino.

This isn't a simple one, but if any $10 million dollar tradeoff was going to be possible then I would take it and probably quit watching most sports just to avoid being dragged right back in..and yes some are saying too much money but  you need to understand that  am giving up my TV entertainment too so need to make my point..thinking about it maybe $100 million  should be enough,  go on some island and see what nature has out there  Grin

I am one of the many gamblers who don’t focus on how to make money from the games I play at the casino.
When playing at a casino with plenty of slot games available, gamblers generally go there to make money through winning. That’s where the mistake lies. The odds aren’t 2 to 1 but can be as high as 3 to 1, so players often end up leaving in a fit of frustration because they didn’t win. I don’t play these games for the money—I’m most entertained by soccer betting.

It is more than enough for me to stop gambling forever, because just like you, $300k is a lot of money for someone from my country because it can completely change your life, you can buy whatever you want, start a big business, make a lot of investments, and live a great life after that. So for me, of course, I will stop gambling if something that magical happens to me.

However, with that being said, I would say that whether a person would actually completely stop gambling or not would surely depend on their nature and why they are gambling in the first place. If it is someone who gambles just for fun, and they are not addicted to it and they know they can stop gambling whenever they want and there will be no strong urge to gamble again, then it will be easy for them to do it. But, if it's someone who is gambling specifically for profits, and they have now reached a point where they are totally addicted to gambling, then it might not be that easy for them to stop, just like that guy who got that much money and then lost it all back.

Do you know that it is easier for someone to let go of numerous losses they have incurred in gambling than for them to walk away at the peak of their gambling when they won a huge amount or when they are on a winning streak. Winning a huge amount of money is like a ticket to continue gambling because you will feel like you have enough money to gamble with, after all it is the company's money you will be gambling with. Maybe you can just be staking little by little and before you will realize you have gone deep with the amount you won. There is this mentality with most gamblers, and that is, when they win huge amount they will want to make more attempts to win higher than the one they won previously. $300,000 is a huge amount of money but it's not every gambler that will win that amount of money and decide to call it a quit.

Human desires differs Sha , there are people who really gamble for fun ,while their are others who gamble for profit and there are still people who gamble for the both ,as for me I gamble for the both ,to make profit while having the fun , I don't think winning a substantial amount can make me walk away , instead I will invest with the money and still and gamble once in while ,I can't just walk away because I won huge money.

The only issue why many win and still lost all to betting is greed ,they are greedy to a point even after winning good amount ,they don't mind using all or half of there win to gamble again just so they can double their winning,  but if you are a lover of sport , trust me while watching you will be trigger to bet at least to feed your curiosity on your favorite team .

....
Are you talking about $300k or 300k, coz you just seem to be mixing the two up? Personally, I know for a truth that gambling isn't a sure way of making money, and so I don't gamble beyond my power... So that in case I lose, I wouldn't want to start trying so hard to recover what was lost... And in cases when I win, be it a big amount or a small amount, I simply just accept that and move on... $300 is a lot of money, such win like that doesn't come all the time and if I was the one with such a win, I would simply accept it and use it to cover up for the losses I have had since I started gambling, that is the sensible thing to do considering how uncertain gambling outcomes usually are...

I think the difference between those who gamble to earn money and those who gamble for fun is their financial backgrounds. The gambler seeking entertainment already has a solid financial life, so he doesn't need to go for gambling as a desperate last resource to make moeney.

The one considering gambling as a source of income, though, finds himself in a harsh financial condition, as he is desperate for money, and for some reason don't earn it through a stable job or investments.

For me, gambling should be played only by those who achieved financial freedom. Therefore, I would be only walking into gambling again once money wouldn't be a concern for me anymore. So, I would be doing the inverse movement proposed by OP on this thread.
