Mark Magsayo will once again be in the ring on September 12 against undefeated American contender Andres Cortes. Both are from Zuffa Boxing Promotions that is why there was no hindrance on making this fight happen. In his last fight, Magsayo defeated Feargal McCrory via 5th round TKO while Andres Cortes has a good fight in his own by defeating Eridson Garcia via unanimous decision.

The ML odds of this fight is quite interesting as bookies placed Mark Magsayo a slight favorite to win this matchup.
For now there are no other options to bet for the fight but surely some options will open up once the fight comes near.

Hmmm, market has already moved quite bit towards Magsayo.

But I'm not so confident about backing Magsayo outright at 1.65 odd. I will not deny that Magsayo is definitely more experienced. And his recent TKO win was also very impressive. But I can't dismiss Cortes 25-0 record so easily. Especially after defeating Garcia in 10-round unanimous decision, he is now getting biggest opportunity of his career.

So if Cortes undefeated record is undervalued by market, then this underdog side is also worth watching for me

This is a solid undercard fight on the Ryan Garcia vs. Conor Benn event. Cortes is an undefeated prospect and the Magsayo is an experienced contender whose only losses came against high caliber fighters. Cortes is fairly unkown and that might be why people are favoring Magsayo.

Magsayo looks better on paper and should win based on having better opposition. It wouldn’t surprise me though if Cortes got an upset. I am not familiar with him so he might be better than the odds suggest.

Speaking of Andres Cortes, in his recent fight against Eridson Garcia, he showed how sharp his counter-punching and inside-fighting is. Even though Magsayo has 3 inch reach advantage, if he just goes for his old habit of brawl then it won't work. I think Cortes will catch him on inside and grind him out for the full 12 rounds.

And let's not forget the weight class. I've rarely seen Magsayo in his explosive form since moving around 130 to 135 lbs super featherweight. On the other hand, afaik, Cortes has been a natural and strong competitor since the beginning of this weight class.

In my opinion, best value bet could be to back Cortes at 2.11 odds! If Magsayo is not lucky enough to land any clean chin-shot early on, I think Cortes will easily pocket the fight by unanimous decision on points.

Thats really expected he comes from a solid previous win matches and his more experienced than his opponent. Deym I am excited about this since another Filipino boxer would show how boxing is the Philippines Pride.

Magsayo's problem is only on his durability, but once he can sort it out. Cortes is nothing for him. He has almost same style and pattern like Nova who almost beat Cortes two years ago, but i rated him is more elite than Nova. So it's likely i will be going for him.
He has a high volume of puch, but with greater power compared to Nova. So it's possible for him to take break Cortes's undefeated record with KO.

1.65 is not that high, but i'll take it. I think high volume of punch with a lot of power will be his key to win this game.

Yes, that's why I have checked his record and it's clean as f. But even so, I'm sure that the bookies has got a reason why they're in favor of Mark Magsayo at this point. I haven't watched any match of Andres Cortes but due to this fight, I'll try to watch one of it to at least see an idea on what kind of boxing he does.

Magsayo is definitely my pick to win this fight by whatever means necessary and the odds fall in his favor even though the fight would be the decider.
Even from the image, you can see the seriousness in his stance as compared to Cortes who is just standing akimbo.
That aside, Magsayo has a better world championship experience because he has fought bigger fighters with more K.o and this could be a problem Cortes would have to contend against because he has fought mainly in his hometown of Las Vegas and his IQ along with his patience might be too slow against Magsayo's speed and athleticism.

Seeing this as a possible close fight, I think it can be about more on rounds management and when and how the boxers would execute full energy rounds compared to something like eco rounds.

Since it is only 10 rounds, it might be down to scoring and not having a KO. I wouldn't be surprised by either of them winning because they are both very good boxers.

Mark Magsayo is always been an exciting fighter. I have followed him throughout his career since he was with the ALA Stable and you are right, he got this problem of stamina and endurance and most of his fights when it lasted the full 12 rounds, he gassed out often.

But the good thing for Magsayo is that Andres Cortes is not a knockout artist and possibly for this fight, Magsayo will be aggressive to go for the knockout and it is very possible since he got the power to do the job but if it will go the distance then possibly he lose on this one.

I have not yet made up my mind yet but most likely i would go for Magsayo via knockout if that odds is attractive.

I don't know Andres Cortes. I believe he hasn't fought much less defeated a fighter of Mark's caliber. I watched clips of his fight against Nova. He's not exceptional, nor should I consider him a rising star. Apart from his record, he's not really a risk to Magsayo.

He appears to be a brawler. He wants to pressure the opponent, cut the distance, tries to get inside, and throw short punches from there. I don't think this will be a huge challenge to Magsayo, who has a better reach. It could even be a suicide, making himself easy for Mark's deadly uppercut.

Although never been downed, I doubt Cortes' chin and jaw have truly been tested. If I were to risk my money, I might go for Mark via KO.

Odds can be quite subjective compared to the actual probabilities of something happening, we must remember that odds are influenced by many things such as also the betting volumes by the public. We have seen in this sport but also in others many cases where someone with a 1.6 odd lost in a one versus one match against someone else. We can put the exact number of odds aside and then say that the probabilities of each person winning in this match is quite similar, so the odds are mostly moved by the bets.

I think this is a challenge for Andres Cortes.  As far as I read, this is the first time Cortes is fighting against a boxer caliber like Magsayo.  Experience-wise, Magsayo has the advantage, although I always have in mind that Magsayo may lose wind in the later part of the fight, it is interesting to see whether that seen weakness in Magsayo is covered.

For this fight, since Magsayo is known to have explosive power, if he connects solidly in the early rounds, the match could finish earlier, but then, with the speed and technical advantage of Cortez, and if Cortez can't get reckless, we might see the judges score here.

Yes love to be a fan haha sometimes I loss a lot in betting with this style but no worry for me cause supporting the countrymen is the best feeling especially when they win. I always bet on pacman whenever he got a match and that fight against Mayweather damn I lose a lot there but its fine.

I think Magsayo is the upperhand here so theres nothing to worry about. But being practical? When you bet on Cortes the profit win is literally big if ever he got one on Magsayo.
