It's easier for anyone to get successful in life at thendn through connections, privileges/opportunities, and by being born into an established wealthy lineage, than you could ever do getting rich through just being hard working.

What and where hard work could take you 10 years and more to achieve, connection and privilege could get there in less than a year. Am not discouraging people from diligently working hard but am only making an expression of reality as it is today in our society. Because I have seen people's life got changed in split minutes through referrals than being just a hardworking Joe.

We cannot say that hard work is almost irrelevant. It is true that having a good family background, connections and privileges all help you create shortcuts, but hard work alone is not enough it is not possible to achieve success through only hard work. It is true that connections can help you open doors for you but that does not guarantee that someone will be successful or will stay successful once the door is open. There are factors like consistency, discipline, skills and also the ability to change yourself and to deliver results these still matter the most. In order to create a good reputation, A person should have all of these factors and it will attract better opportunities and eventually also make more and valuable connections. This is not the product of only one factor. Having privileges can accelerate the journey but hard work help you to sustain it.

It is not right to say that hard work will ensure success, and similarly it is not realistic to say that if you work intelligently, there is no need for hard work.

You have intelligence, but if you do not have hard work, then you will not be able to implement your plan in reality, and in the same way a person can work a lot, but if his work does not have the right direction, skills, proper planning, then he will never get the right value of that work. I agree with what you said in your previous comment. People can become successful through connection without having to work nearly as hard. But those connections and background and advantages didn't just fall into their laps. They came from hard work, year of effort and what previous generations built before them.

And people born with those perks might not need to grind much to get there but keeping it going and growing it for the next generation still takes a ton of effort.

So success and hard work go hand in hand one way or another, imo.

Person can't spend all their years picking trash, and doing all kinds of menial jobs that are done in the slums and then miraculously one day they become a successful person.

If person have a dream of becoming successful, the person have to direct their hardwork toward that dream. For example you can start reading about what they want to become, go to college if the person can and study. And from their things will gonna begin taking shape. They should just make sure that their hardwork is towards the right thing that can bring results.

Am talk base of real life experiences as someone that has being opportune to walk into doors of opportunities and which were mostly through associations and connections that the informations to landing some of the projects and deals I closed came from. It's great to be a hardworking dude anyway, yea I strongly support it because it gets you prepared and ready to utilise opportunities but you see connections it's a life wire.

We don't even need to blame those that believes hardwork don't lead to success because they have their own personal reasons why they have come to conclude on that, many at times spend time and energy working hard with hope of coming home successful but has a different result at last.  Although I will say its because they do not channel such hardwork into a profitable direction that can help transform their efforts into result. 
Its not all about working hard but its all about creating a conducive environment where your hardwork can turn productive at last. This is the problem many faces and keep blaming other factors for their downfall.

Yes, a person can work hard and still  not succeed immediately. Hard work is very crucial but connection, opportunity and timing plays the major role. Most times someone may work hard for years before the right opportunity will come to them. Success isn’t about only hard work it’s also about how to put your effort.
