It depends on where you're from. But if it's US, or EU coinbase and kraken are both a good choice. If you're from certain parts of asia or africa, it's possible that you might need to go the p2p route and buy from other individuals due to the lack of exchanges.

Hey,
Please someone should help me out I am new here. I am trying to see how I can purchase Bitcoin and I will gladly appreciate your honest advise on what to do and the best platform to do that. Thank you.

First, I would suggest you should do your own research on the first priority. Like, which is the safe way of buying bitcoin. You can buy them on centralised or decentralised platforms and also seek the pros and cons for both platforms. Then do your research on how you can stay safe from hackers if you are planning to hold bitcoin for the long term. Because having at least basic information is very important for a newbie. After all that, you can ask members here such questions, and they will help you out by suggesting the best option available online. Other than this, providing or hinting a little about your location or just which country you belong to can help members here help you accordingly. But avoid sharing too much information about yourself publicly. Thanks!

@OmegaStarScream and @snowpega nailed it. At the end of the day it’s your call.
If you’re new to Bitcoin, just remember 3 things: keep it safe, be patient, and actually learn wtf you’re doing. You can buy on any legit exchange with whatever you’ve got. $20, $50, doesn’t matter. But if you plan to hold for years, get it off the exchange ASAP. Not your keys, not your coins. Exchanges go down.
Don’t try to get rich next week. You’ll get wrecked. Learn how to secure your stuff first.
The people who make it aren’t the ones who bought first. They’re the ones who didn’t panic sell and actually held through the crashes.

I won't start giving investment ideas because I don't know the purpose of your buying Bitcoin.

The easy way to buy Bitcoin is through P2P. Use Google to search for available P2P exchanges that your region supports. After that, use YouTube to learn how to use the exchange to avoid P2P tricks from merchants if you are a first-timer. When you're done buying, read on how to store your Bitcoin safely. It is very important.

If you can tell us where you live, maybe we can give you a good suggestion for where's a good place to buy Bitcoin, and tell us also if you are fine for KYC because if not, a P2P decentralized exchange is your only option; usually the only known exchange is Bisq, but still it depends on where you live because not all payment options are in Bisq exist.

To get familiar for more exchange, check this list from this site below

You can choose exchanges from https://www.cryptowisser.com/exchanges/
There are some available categories for the filter: Continent, Traded currency, Max fees and other options. With Fees, you have fees for taker, maker and withdrawal. You can quickly choose an option of US allowed or not.

Another site to use is this https://exchangewar.info/

If you want to find no KYC exchanges.

You sound like you're completely new to Bitcoin so I'll suggest you find a reputable exchange or P2P platform in your country where you can use your local currency to buy. Since you don't know much, I'll also advise that you buy little amount then with it, try and understand how withdrawals and wallets work before you can put more money.

Buying Bitcoin is very easy to learn, what's not not that easy is securing it and I think you should pay more attention in learning how to secure your Bitcoin because that's more important than just owning Bitcoin. When you do that, you can then begin to buy at your own pace.

OP’s second post is on the Nigerian local board so I assume he’s Nigerian. And from his comment there, it doesn’t appear like he’s going to have a hard time in this space.

There are a lot of exchanges where Nigerians can buy bitcoins; Bybit, Bitget, and Remitano.

Do you really think it's worth buying now?

To be honest with you, if you don't know where to buy bitcoin, it means you still have a lot to learn. I'm not saying you should not buy but learning should always come first before buying. If you had studied bitcoin very well, where and how to buy should not be your problem.

Lots of scams are happening lately. If you rush your way in, you're likely to lose your money to scammers whom might pretend to help you.

Depending on where you are, you can buy bitcoin from the many options already given in the thread. You can either buy directly from centralized exchanges using available methods in the platform or you can buy through P2P. Not trying to discourage you but you should do your research always.

If I may ask, hope you did not just get interested due to the recent price surge from $65k to $81k?
And if that's the only thing, I suggest you get basic knowledge too if you want to buy Bitcoin first because Bitcoin does not only go up like this; it also falls, and when you don't have this information and see Bitcoin tanking in price, you most likely will panic sell. Get the orientation so that will help you understand your journey with Bitcoin and how to navigate your way successfully in this space.

It depends on what you want. If you would prefer not to have your private information kept on a centralized exchange. Use a DEX or any of the instant swaps on the forum. However, if conducting KYC on a CEX is acceptable to you, purchase from any of the well-known ones, such as Binance, Bybit, Bitget, Kucoin, etc. But make sure to check if your jurisdiction supports the CEX before you sign up and make a purchase.

I’m not sure you’ve really done your homework work well about all you need to kickstart your bitcoin investment journey with this particular post.. expected something more of list according to your region and the challenges you’re facing that may not really allow it to work out directly, or just some extra information to why you’re posting this .

You’ve gotten some answers though, there’s no need to repeat what others have already posted but what exactly are your plans ? Like how do you plan  to hold it ? How long are you planning to hold it ? are you buying at once or looking forward to continuous purchases for a certain period/amount ? and so on..

Hey,
Please someone should help me out I am new here. I am trying to see how I can purchase Bitcoin and I will gladly appreciate your honest advise on what to do and the best platform to do that. Thank you.

Every advices that's best suited for you must have been answered.
I do have a warning for you, this type of questions can make you a target even in this forum.

Do not answer any DMs telling you that they have a better solution for you.
Instead I would prefer you exposing them on the forum by creating a new topic about it.

I remember perfectly well that few people tried to take advantage of me on here before, your question made me remember the past.

Finding a reputable exchange is not going to be hard, but for someone who is completely new to the game, how to buy will be the issue. I don't know how free and easy it is with other pairs (fait). P2P is, but for my country if you are not smart enough some of this P2P vendors are scammers looking for slight opportunities to take advantage of newbies, rate calculations for someone buying bc direct in P2P can be confusing and even acquiring USDT if care is not taken the person can make payment and don't receive it.

There are several ways you can buy Bitcoin depending on your location. If you have an international debit or credit card, you can deposit USD from a centralized crypto exchange like today I deposited USD to Binance with my Master Card. In this case I used Payoneer Master Card. And after depositing USD you can convert it to Bitcoin or if you don't have an international debit or credit card, you can buy Bitcoin through P2P which is usually supported in every country. You can use Binance exchange from any country, that's what I normally use.

As others have said, it's a good idea to mention which country you live in so people can advise you on the best place to buy Bitcoin based on where you live.

But I'm a bit confused. Your question makes it sound like you're new to Bitcoin, yet in other posts you give advice to others as if you've already invested in it.

Bitcoin investment again need more time before you can start benefiting, you don't have to always expect result as quick as if it's a get rich schemes.

I won't start giving investment ideas because I don't know the purpose of your buying Bitcoin.
I think he's passed that stage of thinking if he should invest or not, now that he has asked how and where to buy. He's already made his decision that he's going to invest and has got that purpose why he's buying.

It depends on where you're from.
His second post is on the local board of Nigeria. I guess that he's from there and many of other members from the country can help him how's the process of buying there.

Please someone should help me out I am new here. I am trying to see how I can purchase Bitcoin and I will gladly appreciate your honest advise on what to do and the best platform to do that. Thank you.
The country you reside will determine the exchange you can set up to purchase bitcoin...But if Binance is allowed in your country, i think it would have be the easiest way you can purchase a bitcoin.....

I think it would have be better for you to make use of Google and make a research to an exchange you can easily purchase a bitcoin from a legitimate source without been scam in your country.....

Another important thing you should have known before you purchase bitcoin, is how bitcoin and blockchain works, it's important to know the rudiment of bitcoin investment before embarking on it, because many people have another thing in mind before coming to invest or purchase bitcoin....

You need to have done your necessary research about bitcoin even including where you will purchase your bitcoin....should incase you don't know bitcoin much, make a research of bitcoin wallet, so that you will know a perfect wallet to hold your bitcoin...

If I may ask, hope you did not just get interested due to the recent price surge from $65k to $81k?
That had always been the factor that drives in many investors into the ecosystem. To be frank, those who had never had Bitcoin are many than those who had and spent in the world. There are more jobs Bitcoin enthusiast has to do to break more into the world market, the outreach is not done yet, there is still more people who haven't even heard Bitcoin does exist.
